The Prodigy Antaris - a secret World of magic #1

Chapter 25

Our lives seemed to be coming into balance after everything that happened last year. Ava and Bael finally seemed to be enjoying their love, and after a while, she opened up to me and told me what she experienced during her captivity. Our friendship was a big emotional pillar that meant a lot to me. Aidan and Inna had a lot of work to do, not only with training the warriors but also with their little son. He always kept them on their toes as a cross between an elf and a mermaid; he was quite a whirlwind. Avery spent a lot of time with Devas as his advisor, and the two quickly became very good friends. I liked their friendship because after King Elior died, Avery was an emotional wreck, and Devas seemed to find a connection with Avery. Besides me, he was the only one who could make him laugh.

"How about 'Day of the Singles'? Or Day of the Unmarried Single Antarisan Women?" Devas asked as he looked at himself in the giant mirror that adorned one of the walls in Avery's study.

I sat next to Avery as he filled me in on some necessary duties as his future wife, and I looked up at Devas.

"How about Devas helping a little so we can move forward? Or the day Devas wakes up with no hair because he's annoying Avery, day?" Avery said, laughing as he looked at Devas' fake shocked face.

"My king, I would never disappoint you. I also think that the future queen is doing very well and has been ready for her duties for a long time. She just needs to have more self-confidence and shed the fear that makes her think she could disappoint her people," Devas said while bowing to us with a laugh.

"I told you not to do that. I see you like a brother, don't bow to me. Not even as a joke," Avery said as he leaned back in his chair.

"Indeed, my King. I will grant your wish when you begin to wear your crown," Devas replied with a serious tone.

Avery's mood seemed a bit depressed after hearing Devas' request. He rested his elbows on the table and rested his chin on his hands.

“I know what you mean, my friend... but I'm not ready yet. My father was king before I was born, and he did so much for Antaris and its people. He fought battles that I learned about in school. The compassion and love he felt for all beings on Antaris were amazing. He was a kind and loving king... Through his death, I became king, as his natural successor. I want to earn the crown and then wear it proudly,” Avery replied, looking from Devas to me.

“I understand you, my love. Your father was a great role model, and he taught you to have love and compassion for everyone in Antaris. You will be a great king. You’re already a great man,” I said proudly to Avery, giving him a kiss on the cheek.

Devas rolled his eyes, clearly annoyed by all the lovers around him.

"One day, you'll have a soulmate too. Then your eyes won't roll anymore," Avery called after him with a laugh as he excused himself to do his duties.

After Jade and Noah withdrew to the human world, Devas visited them regularly. He knew all the secret routes, and with Bael's help, he always remained unrecognized and did not endanger anyone. It would be too dangerous for us to leave Antaris, and Jade made sure that no one but Devas came back. She regularly sent me video recordings on the "great device" she discovered.

For her, a video camera was the funniest discovery in the human world. They were both happy, and she proudly showed us how they got along without their powers. They had built the beautiful wooden house with their own hands. But they had a little help from Devas... or maybe a little more help. Their new home was beautiful and located on a lake far away from people. They had a small town in the area to meet their needs, and Noah even worked like a real person for an older gentleman in the city. Jade was very happy that they could find some peace and quiet for a while.

Devas was like an ambassador or, as he called himself, a postman for the newly humanized because every time he went to visit Jade and Noah, he not only sent back a video message but also sent things from Antaris that they might miss.

Devas was only supposed to stay for a day, but when there was no sign of him after the third day, Avery became very nervous. There was no contact or communication with them for their safety, but now we were very afraid of not being able to talk to them. As Avery paced around the room talking to me about a plan for how best to get into the human world, Devas burst into the room. Our relief and joy at seeing him alive was quickly overshadowed by an angry Devas.

“There’s something there with them! I sensed from day one that something was wrong. The whole time, I felt like someone was watching us. I can't say what it is. I've never felt anything like this before. I can't sense any being I know, but I know someone is there!" the words bubbled angrily from Devas.

“I also felt like someone was watching me when I came to Antaris. It could just be that it's strange for you in the human world," I told Devas to calm him down.

“Iris, I watched you when you got here. I wasn't sure if you were actually the prodigy. That's why I watched you from a distance when you arrived. But you very quickly showed who you are... the creature, on the other hand, is completely unknown to me. The aura is strange and different... I don't know what it is!" Devas replied, and I sensed the tension in his voice.

"Avery, I've been trying to track it down for days, and every time I'm sure I've caught it, every trace disappears," he continued.

Avery immediately called Aidan, Inna, and other experienced warriors to tell them what Devas reported. Maybe one of them knew what we were dealing with.

"I have set up demon traps around the house and have secured them for now," said Devas, as no one knew anything about the unknown creature.

"We don't even know if it's a demon, but the traps should keep everyone out of the dark side," Aidan explained as he sat next to Inna.

"Jade and Noah couldn't return to Antaris with me because of the fear of the unknown creature. What if it can follow us? I can find a safe way for myself, but it's too risky for several people," Devas added.

"What should we do?" I asked, close to tears as I realized that our friends seemed to be in danger.

After everyone spoke at once, and we were on the verge of chaos, Avery asked for silence.

"We must go. A few of us, a small group, go in and out very quickly and carefully." Avery said, adding, "Devas, Aidan, and I will go. Jade will open a portal for us from there, and when we return here, Inna will be ready to interact with our warriors should the need arise.”

Everyone agreed and got up from the table to prepare, everyone but me.

"I'll come with you!" I said angrily, and everyone stopped and turned to me.

“I’m not going to sit here and wait for you to come back and worry about whether you come back. And think about what might have happened to you! I'm going to come with you. Jade and Noah came to my rescue when I didn't even know who I was. How can I abandon them now that they have become such good friends?” I said, unable to hold back the tears anymore.

"My love, this might be very dangerous. I would rather have you safe," Avery said in a calm voice.

But when he saw me surrounded angrily by my red aura, Devas said with a questioning face, "One more can't hurt... right?"

We were quickly ready and made our way to the human world. With our amicus, we were clearly more noticeable, but the unknown danger left us no other choice.

The air was different than on Antaris, and the sky wasn't nearly as beautiful as back home. I completely forgot what it was like on Earth, but now I could only notice the difference because I have learned to love the beauty of Antaris.

"I feel the aura in the house! How did it get past all the traps?" Devas shouted as he stormed towards the house.

We purposefully went into Jade and Noah's house to save them, but what we found was the opposite. Jade and Noah were sitting with a young woman and laughing... They were laughing? Why were they laughing?

"And now comes the question!" said the pretty woman.

"How did you get past the traps?" Devas and the young woman asked at the same time.

Jade and Noah burst out laughing and greeted us all with hugs. We were confused and didn't know what to say, but the hugs felt good.

There was obviously no danger here for Jade and Noah. But we were now an easy target for an attack if this was a trap.

"We have to go back immediately, my king, before we are discovered!" Aidan said, being the first to see the situation exactly as I did.

"Don't worry, you're safe as long as you're near me," said the young woman with a smile. "No one can track you down here,” she said, a pink glow appearing in her eyes.
