The Prodigy Antaris - a secret World of magic #1

Chapter 18

When I lost the ground beneath me and fell down, I was disappointed in myself.

Is this the way I'm gonna die?

Was it all for nothing?

I let my friends down. I failed my beloved Avery. I failed my amicus. I let myself down.

When I fell into the depths of the cave, I wasn't afraid. Only disappointment at my failure.

I heard Avery calling me as I fall deeper and deeper into the dark cave.

I won't go down like that! Pull yourself together Iris! You haven't studied and practiced so much that you are now dying in a dark and dirty cave in front of your loved ones.

I'm Iris..I'm the Prodigy!

I pulled myself together and used my strength to protect myself from the impact.

The red mist around me protected me from impact and I just hovered low to the ground. I got to my feet and faced the opening above me. Just as I was about to tell Avery I was okay, the ground beneath me shifted.

And when I looked at the ground I saw no dust, no stones and no earth. I looked at scales that shone reddish. And when I looked up I was staring into two huge red glowing eyes. Two feline pupils focused on me and widened as they saw me. The eyes narrowed towards me and I realized that I wasn't charged on the ground but on the body of the being staring at me.

The closer the eyes came at me out of the darkness, the faster I slipped off the scaly body and landed on the ground. The being that was in the dark came towards me and in no time was standing right in front of me. The light shone down on us and the red scales shone and glittered in the sun. And the closer it got, the more I realized how big it actually is. When it came out of the darkness to the collapsed place into the light I recognized who was standing in front of me.

The red eyes continued to look at me with kindness and love. And as he held his large head against mine and inhaled my scent deeply, my eyes were filled with tears.

Tears of joy...tears of relief...tears of happiness.

"Alatus!" I whispered softly.

"My Alatus, I've come to finally free you. Forgive me, my amicus, forgive me, my soul brother, that I've only just come." I whispered while falling on my knees in front of him crying.

Him..my Amicus..my Alatus..the last of his kind.The last dragon!

"Iris! You came. You didn't forget me! You came. You set me free. My Iris. My fire child. My soul sister." I heard Alatus depth and coarse voice say the softest words to me.

I hugged him as hard as I could and the relief was immediate. As my hands touched the scaly skin of my amicus, our bond was reborn.

I felt his heartbeat, I felt his breath, I felt his every muscle as if they were mine. I knew his thoughts, I felt his feelings... we were one being in two bodies. And when I opened my eyes I stared into his red ones.

Our souls reunited. Our bond strong and invincible. I could feel our power. I'm finally whole.

"We have to get out of here," Alatus said worriedly.

"Alatus, my friends are in danger. Avery, my brother... everyone came to save you. you are attacked Up there. They fight alone,” I yelled, realizing they were still fighting the creatures.

"You are not alone anymore. Get up and don't let them fight alone anymore. Release your power. Release all your anger. You are half demon Iris. With me by your side you can do anything. You can't kill the demons with eleven defeat magic.

You are not an elf, my child. You are fire...You have demon blood. You can fight fire with fire. And we are fire Iris. We are fire!” said Alatus to me.

I knew he had awakened something deep inside me that I hadn't felt until now. In combination with my amicus, I became aware of my powers for the first time. And like magic, I knew exactly what to do and how to use my powers to help my friends. To save Aidan. And my beloved Avery. I will save them all.

I was floating above the ground in my red cloud that flashed around me with red lightning.

Alatus looked at me with pride and moved his strong body in my direction. And when I sat on his back, he crawled through the opening towards the exit.

Alatus climbed up the cave the spell is broken he was free now. I broke the spell as I collapsed the cave. His steps were quick and his claws were strong. A born climber one would say. And when we reached the surface I searched my friends...my family.

"Hold the line! Don't let them come near." Bael yelled loudly at Devas.

And while all my friends were fighting for their lives, my eyes only searched for Avery. My Avery knelt on the ground screaming my name over and over.

"Avery watch out!" screamed Ava in panic.

And in the last second, Aidan was able to kill one of the creatures that almost got Avery. My friends were surrounded and the creatures were preparing to destroy them.

" Alatus! Let's save our family!" I whispered just for us to hear.

And this was enough for Alatus to push off the ground and spread his wings. While he opened his mighty wings and we lifted off the ground, Alatus hissed so loudly that all their heads turned to us.

"That's not possible how could she free him?" Belial roared angrily.

"Kill the dragon! Kill them all!" Abbadon commanded angrily.

"Iris! My Iris!" exclaimed Avery with relief.

The creatures charged at me and Alatus to kill us and the earth shook. The earth shook not only because of the creatures, but also because of Alatus' mighty wings.

"Burn them! Destroy them! Let's destroy them all!" I screamed in anger.

And when Alatus circled around them, a red glow surrounded us. I could feel the power in my body, the same as I felt in my amicus. And when he hissed a second time, his horns stood up. Alatus body grew warmer, and as he hissed a third time, he released his fiery breath.

The flames spread out over the creatures, who screamed in pain, leaving only ashes of them.

"Noooo! That's impossible!" cried Belial angrily.

And as we flew straight for the princes of darkness, Alatus hoisted again. Belial assumed his fighting stance and his Black Mist surrounded him.

"It's not the time yet!" Abbadon shouted at his brother.

And with a wave of the hand, a black mist arose around the brothers and they disappeared. They just managed to get out before Alatus released his fire.

Alatus landed on the ground and threw up the ashes of the destroyed creatures with his wings.

"Iris!" I heard Aidan and Avery call out.

They ran to me and hugged me and I was so glad they were all okay. Avery kissed my face and hugged me as tightly as he could.

"I thought I lost you." he whispered sadly.

"I'm fine my love. I'm fine!" I comforted Avery.

All my friends were fine. They were hurt and tired but they were alive. Aidan and Devas stood in front of my amicus and admired him. And shortly afterwards all the others followed them. Only Bael didn't care about my amicus, he stood next to Ava to make sure she was okay.

"The portal is open we have to go home" Jade called to us.

"Let's go to the portal, we have to get out of here!" Aidan shouted loudly.

One by one they all jumped through the portal to safety.

"What about your amicus? How does he get through the portal?" asked Avery worried.

I turned to Alatus and with a wave of my hand my red cloud surrounded him. He shrank to the size of a lizard and I took him in my hands.

"That's how he gets through." I said proudly, looking at the shocked faces of my brother and Avery.

Aidan pulled Avery through the portal and I jumped after them. I held Alatus in my hands carefully not to hurt him. And when we finally got back home through the portal, Avery was still standing in front of me with a shocked face when I reverted my Amicus to its original size.

Aidan laughed out loud when he saw Avery's face. And when Avery noticed that, he had to laugh too.

Everyone was fine. Everyone is safe again. We made it!
