Chapter 14
We all sat together in the living room while Devas initiated the king. He finally had to explain to him why Bael was here. What we all didn't know was that Bael was Ava's soulmate.
The only words Bael said was Ava's name and after that he didn't answer any more questions. Ava stood with Bael in front of Deva's house, she was talking and Bael just looked at her and said nothing.
When Ava came into the house upset, the king cut off the conversation with Devas.
"What's the matter sweetie?" the king asked the crying Ava.
"He..He..I..He doesn't want me as his soulmate!" said Ava angrily.
"What? What do you mean?" asked Avery worried.
"He doesn't want me!" Ava whispered while crying in her father's arms.
"There must be an explanation for his behavior. Are you sure?" asked King Elior .
Ava nodded and cried even louder at the disappointment. I finally know what it feels like when you find your soul mate, and this is breaking Ava's heart right now.
Bael refused to talk, even turning his back on Devas when he tried to talk to him. The king calmed Ava down and decided it was best for Ava to go home. Aidan had to go back to take his place in the training camp. He also missed his Inna a lot and I was glad that he could go back. I stay here with Avery to harness my powers to master them. It broke my heart to see Ava go like this and I knew Avery was sad for his sister.
I held his hand as we stood at the door and watched them leave.
"She's going to be ok, isn't she?" I asked Avery.
"I don't know," Avery replied sadly.
No one has ever been rejected by their soulmate in Antaris. Avery was angry at Bael for the pain his sister felt. But he still had to hold himself back because of me.
I must hurry and learn to master my power here, Avaa needs us now.The only way to talk to Ava was through Jade, and we did that as often as we could. Her voice was sad but she played it down like she was ok.
The next few days I learned how to activate my powers. I learned to use and control them. It was very difficult at first but Avery explained to me that my emotions played a big part in my power. Every time I concentrated I thought of him and my red aura was just red...however when I thought of my parents death my aura turned bright red. Like fire around me that was so strong I felt the connection.
I learned to activate my power and after a little practice it was very easy. I just didn't know what I could do with my power.
Devas was confident and Bael explained everything to me very well. He was silent to any question about Ava and only spoke to help me when it came to my powers.
I made a few mistakes and ended up throwing the three men around me. But Devas always shielded them and rolled his eyes when I apologized.
I was now able to develop my powers and tried out everything Devas showed me. Not only could I control the dark powers, I could control them all. Any power that was shown to me I could control after seeing or touching it. The more I practiced the easier it became for me and after a week I practice every day to get better.
Jade stopped by every day that week. It was easy for her to open a portal and come to us. She often brought warriors with special powers to practice with me. Whether water or earth or any other element, I mastered them very quickly. Even wood elves or elf powers were very easy for me to learn.
She also came with Noah, Mana and Keijou and they taught me their powers.
Inna and Aidan also came by and were very proud of me for the effort I made. I was tired but tried my best every day knowing I still had a lot to learn. Devas pushed me to my limit every day. Avery was worried about me but he knew I wanted it that way.
Everyone was a great support for me and that only increased my motivation.
"You called me prodigy when we got here..." I said to Devas as we sat at dinner.
Bael and Avery looked at Devas who was eating and ignored me as if he didn't hear me.
" Devas !" I said angrily He looked up from his plate and put down his cutlery.
"You were talented as a child. Very talented... You were interested in all powers and it was very easy for you to use them. You just needed a push to do it again. Prodigy!" said Devas.
"You have one more thing to do and it's going to be very dangerous." he added.
" What do you think ?" I asked with furrowed eyebrows.
"You have to find your amicus." answered Devas and continued to eat.
"It's going to be very difficult. No one knows where they're keeping their amicus," Avery said.
"My amicus..." I repeated.
"Yes your amicus Iris....that thing that spoke through you when Bael helped you remember. That was creepy as shit" Devas answered me.
"The voice in my head...is that of my amicus?" I asked.
"Yes my love only you can communicate with your amicus like that....so you talked to him?" Avery asked me while stroking my hand.
"I've been talking to him in my dreams for years...but I didn't know who he was." I said to them.
"Well, Sleeping Beauty, that's the way your amicus can communicate with you when you're apart." explained Devas.
"He didn't happen to tell you where he was imprisoned?" asked Bael
" No.. the only thing I saw in my dream is a place with red flowers. And I heard terrible animal noises. A cave guarded by terrible animals." I answered.
"Infernus insula" Devis and Bael said simultaneously.
"Hell No! The island of Hell...well this is the only place from which no intruder ever came back. It is said that the worst and most horrible breeds of Hell live there. And the prisoners are taken there personally by the princes. The creatures only listen to the royal family of darkness." said Devas as he got up from the table.
He was pacing around the room thinking out loud. We watched him and listened to his soliloquy.
"We can do it, we just need a plan," Bael said.
"What do you mean? Weren't you listening. The amicus is on the island of hell!" Devas exclaimed angrily to Bael.
"Well we can get to the island with the help of Jade..and Bael is a trickster we could look for my amicus unnoticed. And if we find him we'll go back through the portal." I suggested.
Devas stopped walking and looked at me.
"That's a good idea Devas," Bael encouraged.
"We take the strongest warriors and go in to save the amicus and out again unnoticed," Avery said.
"Are you even listening? This is the island of Hell..Hell!" cried Devas out.
"Oh Devas is scared of some beasts," Bael sneered.
"I'm not afraid! Of nobody!" Devas snapped back at Bael.
" So let's go?" Bael asked him, still mocking.
Devas looked from him to me and then to Avery.
"This will take preparation. Someone has to make a plan, choose people, prepare everything." Devas replied.
"I think you'll be the best for the job," Avery said as he patted his shoulder.
Just as Devas was about to say something I stopped him saying "I trust you".
He looked at me and ran his hand through his hair annoyed.
" We will all die." he said as he dropped onto the chair.
"Not when we're prepared," Bael replied.
Devas shook his head as a sign of dissatisfaction.
"Devas in 7 days I'll get my amicus. With you or without you. But with you we would have better chances." I said to him.
And that seemed to be enough. His gaze softened and his face grew serious.
"I have sworn to protect and teach you, daughter of Baldur. If you want to go to Hell Island, then I will accompany you," Devas answered in a serious tone.
" No. You shall not only accompany me... You shall lead us." I said to Devas with a smile.
He nodded in agreement with what I said.
"If we die at least as fighters." Bael said and laughed.
It was agreed that Devas and Bael plan everything and that we will go to the king tomorrow and explain everything to him. Because we will need warriors to accompany us.
I will save you my amicus. I promise you....
