Chapter 641-650
Chapter 641
Chasel was once again taken aback, but after all, it was just a verbal promise, and he wasn’t completely buying it.
“If I have to give up my status and position to be with her, I wouldn’t hesitate to chuck everything I have now.”
Even if he had to live as an ordinary person for the rest of his life, as long as Bella was there, he would be the happiest man in the world.
Getting her was like getting the whole world Enough said.
“Easy to say, but damn hard when it actually comes to giving up”
Romeo got Chasel’s point.
“Chasel, I promised Hans before, and now I’ll say it to you. If one day you guys feel that Bella is being wronged by me, or if I ever betray Bella, you can come and take my life anytime. I won’t put up any resistance.”
Chasel felt like he was just getting to know him today, his gaze at him was deeper, seemingly understanding why Bella liked him. A man of his character and responsibility would say such things.
“Alright, I’ll hold you to that. If one day you hurt my sister or dare to mess around, your life is mine to take!”
“Sure” Romeo agreed seriously.
“Now that you’ve chosen Bella, try to stay away from Serena as much as possible.”
Chasel knew Serena had a crush on Romeo and dreamed of becoming his wife.
“Chasel, rest assured, I’ve never had any inappropriate thoughts about Serena. I don’t like her. I only love Bella. Now and in the future I won’t change my mind. You
can relax.”
On the side, Chasél’s groupies were crowding around Arabella, chattering non–stop.
“You’re so well–behaved and cute!”
“Your genes are really something.”
“Sis, you have no idea how much our boss wanted to fly back to see you. The mission was supposed to end at the end of the month, but he finished it early! You wouldn’t believe how.”
They didn’t finish the sentence with “dangerous“, but Arabella guessed it and felt a bit anxious inside.
“The moment the mission ended, the boss flew straight back, without even taking a break! We were so exhausted last night that we could fall asleep standing up
“The boss is really jealous of your brothers, who got to see you first. You might not believe it, but he felt really bad about not being able to buy you a gift himself.”
“I gotta say, the boss really values you. Whenever he gets a chance, he asks the other brothers about you. But they always brag about how close they are with you in front of him, making him both envious and helpless.”
Hearing this, Arabella looked towards the silhouette having a conversation with Romeo, feeling even warmer inside.
So, having a brother who cared and loved her this much was such a wonderful thing.
“By the way, the boss didn’t know you were his sister last night. If he knew, he definitely wouldn’t have invited you to join.” The man didn’t finish his sentence, as if he remembered something, and quickly shut up.
Kelly, who was standing nearby, was a bit curious: “Join what?”
They couldn’t reveal the Ministry of State Security, but Kelly was still surprised. “You guys met last night? What Chasel invited you to join couldn’t be?”
Chapter 642
Before she could even finish, a few of the underlings hastily made a motion to silence her, signaling her not to spill the beans.
Mya and Joyce were completely clueless as to what was going on.
At that moment, Chasel and Romeo wrapped up their conversation and started heading their way.
The sunlight radiated off them, making their tall, leggy figures even more striking. They were absolute hunks.
Mya and Joyce were gobsmacked. Just how many people would these two overshadow if they stepped into the entertainment industry?
“Sorry for the wait.” Romeo ruffled Arabella’s hair affectionately.
Meanwhile, Chasel was rolling his eyes and saying, Not this again! Didn’t he promise to tone it down in public? But here he was, being all lovey–dovey again. Arabella shot Chasel a glance and asked in a soft voice, “Are you done?”
“Yep Catching his sister’s gaze, Chasel quickly added, “I was gentle and polite, I didn’t lose my temper.”
“Once today’s activities are over, Chasel and I will pick you up and take you home for dinner, then we’ll drop you back at school,” Romeo stated their final decision. Arabella nodded her head, “Okay.”
So, after the afternoon activities, her fiance and her brother would be picking her up. She’d have two escorts!
Kenneth and Louisa still hadn’t emerged, so Arabella glanced at the office and said, “We’ll head off first.”
The day’s activities weren’t over yet, and Jerome would probably be in a tizzy once he found out they’d left. The earlier incident had nearly scared the life out of him. “Okay.” Romeo had a meeting with a business partner in the vicinity. Upon hearing about Bella’s mishap, he rushed over to the school. He left to resume his meeting.
That left Chasel with a few of his underlings.
“Boss, your sister is a real looker!”
“The Collins family sure hit the gene jackpot!”
If Arabella hadn’t been engaged to Romeo, they would have tried their luck at becoming Chasel’s brother–in–law.
Chasel’s gaze turned icy. “Who was it earlier that was ogling my sister’s long legs, slim waist, and killer figure? Stand up!”
Upon hearing this, the underlings realized that the boss was settling old scores. They hurriedly started pointing fingers.
“It was him! He was the one eyeing your sister’s legs!”
“He was checking out her waist!”
“He was practically eating her up with his eyes! He’s the one who said she had a hot bod!”
After finger–pointing, they quickly apologized, “Boss, we didn’t know she was your sister! If we knew, we wouldn’t have dared to even glance at her, even if we had a hundred guts!”
“Seriously, not even with a thousand guts would we dare to be your brother–in–law!”
Chasel shot them a warning look: “Watch where you’re looking next time!”
“Yes, boss!”
“Go run ten laps around the field.”
Did they hear that right?
“Boss, this is someone else’s school.”
Running aimlessly around someone else’s sports field, and for ten laps at that, seemed a bit inappropriate, didn’t it?
“So, you’re suggesting you run around the entire Summerfield instead?”
“No, we definitely didn’t mean that!”
“With so many girls at the school, this is your chance to show off in front of them. What if someone takes a shine to you?”
The underlings: What the heck! They were pretty darn desirable too, okay! They had achieved a lot over the years, and their good looks were more than enough to make them stand out in any crowd!
Chapter 643
But Chasel clearly had no intention of letting them off the hook.
Man! Who would have thought that after Arabella left, the Minister turned back into that cold, sarcastic, and sneaky guy?
They really missed Arabella just now.
If she was still here, the minister surely wouldn’t bother them.
Did Arabella know she has such a fickle brother?
Sigh, they got to face reality! They had to hit the pavement.
When they went for a run, Chasel took out his phone and texted David on WhatsApp first.
[Saw my sister today]
[Her hair is soft, obedient, good–looking, considerate, cute, and understanding.]
[She said that her favorite person is me!]
After sending these three messages, Chasel finally smiled. Damn, he finally got his payback.
David, who was backstage preparing for a concert, saw that Chasel had sent so many messages at once. That’s a first in all these years!
Don’t even talk about sending so many WhatsApp messages. When Chasel got busy, he sometimes only sent him one a month and didn’t even reply to his messages!
David replied with a voice message, “Blow it out of your ass! Her favorite person is Romeo, all the brothers have to step aside! Don’t think we’re the exception!”
Did that make sense?
Chasel pondered, The way his sister defended Romeo just now, it seemed she really liked him.
He suddenly felt a bit sour. What’s going on?
“How long are you going back this time?” David asked.
Chasel replied, “Four days.”
On topics unrelated to his sister, he became succinct again.
David sent another voice message: “So the time you spend alone with your sister, I mean alone, definitely won’t exceed an hour. Don’t ask me how I know!”
Last time he went home for so many days, Romeo had monopolized Bella, which meant David did not have the chance to go out alone with his sister. Not even one chance, that’s too much!
*Do you really think my sister likes Romeo?” Chasel asked again.
Sure enough, as long as it’s related to his sister, the word count increased again!
David replied, “You’ll find out.”
These four days will definitely let Chasel see how his sister indulged that old fox and how that old fox monopolized his sister.
“Alright, no more chatting: I’m going on stage.”
Chasel stared at his phone for a while, then thought of something and forwarded what he had just sent to David to Hans.
Hans almost immediately replied: [Touched only once? What is there to brag about?]
[Only going back for four days? That’s hundreds of hours less than the time I spent with Bella.]
[In Bella’s eyes, you’re a stranger, not like me. I’ve already made a place in her heart.]
[Bella likes quiet and usually doesn’t like to be disturbed. If there’s nothing important, try not to call or message her. If there’s an emergency, you can tell me, and I’ll pass it on for you.]
After receiving these replies, Chasel was very depressed, thinking: As if I’d believe you!
Didn’t expect Hans to change too. In order to fight for the position in his sister’s heart, he would even make up such lies.
[Bella just told me that she likes chatting with me best. She wants me to call or message her whenever I have time.] Chasel quickly–sent the message after editing it, deliberately making Hans uncomfortable.
[I’ve taken a screenshot.] Hans wasn’t easy to mess with either: [I’m going to send this screenshot to Bella right now to verify its authenticity.]
This was too shameless!
Chapter 644
Louisa, arm in arm with Kenneth, walked out of the office, with the director respectfully seeing them off.
“Take care, Mr. and Mrs. Collins.”
Once outside, Louisa only saw Chasel. Where was everyone else?
“Where’s Bella?” Kenneth asked, “I haven’t had a chance to chat with her.”
“She’s still at her extracurricular activities. She’ll be home for dinner after she’s done.”
“Awesome!” Louisa hadn’t expected her daughter, who’d been staying at school for so long, to finally be coming home.
She had been eating and sleeping poorly these past few days, constantly worrying if Arabella was cold or hungry at school or if she was being bullied.
Kenneth happily said, “Finally, you can sleep peacefully tonight! Because Bella’s coming home for dinner, we should ask the kitchen to prepare more of her favorite food, like those Australian prawns from last time.”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah, and that fish.”
Hearing this, Chasel thought was he even their biological son?
It had been months since he’d been home, but all the dishes his parents were discussing were Bella’s favorites. They didn’t consider him at all. They walked further and further away, like they were in a hurry to get home and prepare dinner.
They had completely forgotten about their son, Chasel.
Chasel was a bit sour.
Elsewhere.
Jerome saw Arabella returning and wanted to ask something, but he couldn’t speak in front of so many students.
Arabella saw his hesitation and blushing face, looking very anxious, and found it kind of funny.
Finally, Jerome couldn’t bear the torment anymore and, as usual, sent the others off to run, leaving only Arabella.
“It’s okay Arabella reassured him in advance, seeming to know what he was worried about.
Jerome could hardly believe his ears. He looked at the beautiful girl in front of him and asked excitedly, “Really? You’re not pulling my leg?”
Arabella raised an eyebrow and asked, “What would I gain from lying to you?”
“Really? No punishment? No demotion? No expulsion?” Jerome was ecstatic, grasping Arabella’s shoulders excitedly and saying, “You must have put in a good word for me! I knew you were a good kid.”
Arabella glanced at his hands, seemingly hinting at something.
Jerome realized this and quickly let go.
He remembered the scene in the office when Romeo and Chasel grilled him one after the other, even thinking about it was scary.
He hadn’t realized the girl had such a powerful background, with two god like men backing her.
Not only that, but also the parents of the Collins family and several other brothers.
Elsewhere.
Chasel thought for a moment, took out his phone, and called an elder.
“Mr. Jarvis, it’s me.”
“Chasel, hahaha, what brought you to call me today?” A hearty laugh came from the other end of the phone.
“To be honest, I need a favor from you, Mr. Jarvis.”
The voice on the phone remained cheerful: “Shoot.”
“Well, I have a friend who is exceptionally gifted in medicine and has great ambitions. She’s a rare medical prodigy, and I’d like to ask Mr. Jarvis to personally tutor
her.”
Last night, Bella mentioned that she would work in the medical field after graduation to help more people.
This meant her ambition was here!
Chapter 645
Mr. Jarvis was a big shot in the medical world. If he could personally guide Bella, then Bella was definitely going to be the brightest star in the medical field of Solterra in the future!
On the phone, Mr. Jarvis seemed surprised. He didn’t expect Chasel, always independent and resolute, to actually call him for help.
He curiously asked, “Is this person you’re talking about important to you?”
Thinking of his sister, Chasel’s tone became softer: “Actually, she’s my long–lost sister.
“Bella?”
“You know her?” At this point, Chasel felt surprised. How did Mr. Jarvis know what his sister’s name was?
Mr. Jarvis laughed on the phone, waving his hands, and said, “I can’t teach her.”
“Mr. Jarvis?”
Before Chasel could ask why, Mr. Jarvis said, “Actually, Bella’s medical skills were taught by me, but her level has exceeded mine now.”
Mr. Jarvis said with a smile, “I can’t teach Dr. Bell.”
Dr. Bell??
Chasel couldn’t believe it. Dr. Bell, who could bring the dead back to life, was his sister? His own sister?
“You just got home, right? You should get to know your sister better, you’ll understand.”
Chasel was completely shocked. This answer was beyond imagination.
On the other side.
“Bella, you’ve been wronged!” After hearing the director’s report, President Barton immediately called Arabella saying, “I’m on my way, I’ll be there soon. Who dares bully my precious granddaughter! If the Winters family’s stock doesn’t drop by a few hundred million dollars, I’m not worthy to be your grandfather!” Through the phone, Arabella could imagine his angry face.
She couldn’t help but laugh, saying, “It’s all in the past. Take care on the road and tell the driver to go slow; no rush.”
“People dare to bully you on my turf; anyone dares to bully you. They’re asking for trouble!!”
President Barton was so angry that he was shaking. “I’m going to have a meeting tomorrow; let all the tutors know who you are; they all need to remember your identity!”
He just went out to do something, and things turned out like this. If he’s not around, he didn’t know what his precious granddaughter would be bullied into!
“It’s not me who was wronged today.” Arabella comforted him for a while, seeing his anger subsided a bit, then said, “I’m going home to have dinner with Chasel tonight, I can’t accompany you in the experiment.”
The old man was a bit surprised. “He’s back?”
“Mhm.”
“He has a high position and a great responsibility; it’s hard and dangerous. I guess this time he won’t be able to stay for long. Alright, you go have dinner with him, and don’t participate in the upcoming extracurricular activities. Go home and have a good time with your family.”
Over the years, Bella has hardly felt the warmth of family. Now that her other brother was back, there’s one more person to love her, and that’s a good thing.
Hearing President Barton say this, Arabella replied, “That won’t do.”
“As for your classmates, don’t care about their opinions. At the beginning of the school’s enrollment, we publicly announced that as long as the top scorer comes, everything is up to the top scorer; the school won’t say you’re late or absent for no reason. This is your privilege so use it well!”
Arabella laughed and said, “Chasel and I will have dinner tonight, you don’t have to worry. As for the experiment, I’ll do it when I get there.”
“Alright.”
Without her, he really couldn’t complete it alone.
1
In the evening, a swanky yet low–key car pulled up at the school gate.
Chapter 646
Two tall and handsome dudes stood by the car, their striking appearance and height drawing quite a bit of attention.
“OMG, look over there! Those two dudes are seriously hot!”
“Are they waiting for someone?”
“I wonder if they have girlfriends. Let’s go ask for their numbers!”
Some of the girls tried to approach them, but they were politely blocked by the driver.
Both men were looking towards the school, seemingly waiting for someone, and they chatted occasionally.
Their good looks and charisma made it hard to look away.
Finally, a girl walked out of the school gates and headed their way.
The guys‘ eyes lit up instantly. One of them went up and ruffled the girl’s hair, while the other held the car door for her.
Their actions were incredibly gentle, clearly indicating that this girl was significant to them.
Many eyes followed the girl as she bent down to get into the car. From her silhouette, they could tell she had a great figure; she was tall, but her face was not visible.
Inside the car, Arabella sat between the two men.
“You must be tired from your after–school activities. Here, have some water.” Chasel unscrewed a bottle of KonaNigari mineral water and handed it to Arabella. Romeo then took out some snacks and said, “I bought these on the way here. Let me know if they taste good.”
“You should wipe your hands first.” Chasel tore open a packet of wet wipes.
After Arabella cleaned her hands, Romeo took her hand and wiped it dry, then put a disposable glove on her hand. Seeing the detailed care of the two men, a small smile formed on Arabella’s lips.
“You guys should have some too.” Arabella offered them the snacks.
Chasel was so touched he was lost for words. It was the first time she had offered him food!
She hadn’t forgotten him just because there were other guys around! In fact, the first piece of snack was for him!
Chasel was incredibly moved. He looked at Romeo, expecting him to be jealous, but instead, Romeo took a bite from the snack in Arabella’s hand.
Chasel thought: I’ll tolerate it for my
sister!
After a while, Romeo received a phone call: “Could you repeat that?”
“Mr. McMillan, even if you kill me, you have to come over. The incident happened suddenly, you’re the only one who can handle it now!”
Since she was sitting close, Arabella naturally heard Carl’s voice on the phone.
Romeo was initially about to blow his top, but upon catching Arabella’s gaze, he swallowed his anger..
“Great timing.”
After hanging up, Romeo instructed the driver to make a pit stop at McMillan Corporation, then told Arabella, “You and Chasel go home and have dinner first; don’t wait for me. I’ll come over as soon as I’ve handled everything.”
“Alright, be nice.”
“Don’t worry.”
Since Arabella asked him to, he reluctantly agreed not to lose his temper at anyone.
Finally, only the driver, Chasel, and Arabella were left in the car.
Chasel was delighted to have his sister’s company all to himself. David had warned him before that Romeo would constantly monopolize his sister’s time, and having alone time with her was harder than climbing to the sky.
But it seemed like David had been worrying too much.
Chasel was filled with joy. Looking at the obedient girl beside him, his heart was brimming with warmth.
Chapter 647
His sister looked really pretty, well–behaved, and talented.
“Did you study medicine with Mr. Jarvis before?”
Arabella was a bit surprised. “How did you know?”
Chasel told her the story, plain and simple.
Arabella didn’t expect that Chasel would go to Mr. Jarvis for help.
“Mr. Jarvis said your medical skills have surpassed his. I underestimated you that day I was thinking of inviting you to join us.”
He didn’t mention the Ministry of State Security, fearing eavesdropping.
How could they possibly recruit Dr. Bell?
“If I knew it was you that day, I could consider taking a position.”
Anyway, the operation of the family company was already well handled. Taking a position was not a problem for her, it just took some time. Chasel was moved by Arabella’s words and thought of David’s words. His sister was not only considerate but also warm, like a down jacket!
“My job is a bit dangerous; better not go.” Chasel’s attitude suddenly changed: “Forget about taking the position.”
Arabella thought to herself: That’s not what you said that day.
“By the way, my grandparents are not in good health and are currently undergoing a series of treatments abroad.” The treatment process cannot be interrupted, otherwise, all previous efforts will be wasted.
“If their condition does not improve, can you help take a look?”
“Sure.” Arabella agreed.
Chasel voluntarily talked about how he met Mr. Jarvis. Before they knew it, the car had arrived at Reflections Villa.
Many cars were parked at the entrance of the villa, and a dozen people were moving things out of the cars and into the villa.
There were clothes, shoes, bags, skincare products, jewelry, food and drinks, and daily necessities.
Chasel opened the car door for Arabella to get out. Seeing her puzzled, he smiled and said, “These are all for you. Go in and see if you like them.”
Arabella was somewhat surprised. “Did you buy the whole mall?”
“I’m not sure what you like, so I bought different things. If there’s anything you don’t like, I promise not to buy it next time.”
After saying this, Chasel noticed Arabella’s hair was messed up by the wind, so he helped tidy it up.
Before buying these things, he asked the house servants. Edith said Arabella was very easy–going, not picky, and had no particular dislike colors or foods.
She accepted whatever the family gave her, whether it’s clothes or food,
Such a considerate and lovely girl, and the Murphy family treated her like this!
Thinking of the Murphy family’s actions, Chasel was angry. Luckily, Arabella was decisive and sent those villains to jail.
“Let me go in with you.”
Arabella nodded, took a few steps, then suddenly felt something strange. She turned around to take a look.
There was nothing unusual around, but she felt like someone was watching them.
Chasel followed her gaze and asked quietly, “What are you looking at?”
“Nothing.” Arabella thought, Was it Chasel’s identity that attracted “enemies“? But with Chasel’s position, how could he be discovered by the enemy so easily, let alone come here?
Was she too nervous? Or was the person lurking in the dark targeting her?
The living room was filled with things Chasel bought for Arabella. Many servants were moving things to Arabella’s room.
Chapter 648
“I heard girls love sweets.” Chasel picked up a nearby lollipop casually, tore open the wrapper, and handed it to Arabella.
Arabella took a bite and said, “Thanks, Chasel. It’s sweet.”
“Ms. Bella, you’re back? Chasel had some flowers planted on your balcony. They’re really beautiful; you should take a look.”
Previously, Hans had planted flowers on Arabella’s balcony, and Chasel was no exception. However, when Arabella went up, she found that the flowers Chasel had planted were hung layer by layer on her railing, perfectly covering the flowers Hans had planted earlier.
This childish behavior made Arabella laugh.
A question came from the living room: “Why did only you come back? Where’s Bella?”
“Didn’t Bella come back with you?” Kenneth also asked, “Is she still at school? How could you leave her alone at school?”
As Arabella was about to go downstairs, she felt a gaze coming this way again.
This time, she was sure it wasn’t her imagination, someone really was watching their every move!
[Check who’s at my front door.] Arabella texted her subordinates, then went downstairs.
“Bella!” Louisa saw her and said happily, “Come on, dinner’s ready! I made three dishes tonight!”
“I made three too! Come taste and see how they are!”
Chasel stood aside: His parents can cook? He’s this old, and it’s the first time he’s found out they can cook.
“Where’s Romeo? Why didn’t he come back with you?” Louisa asked.
“He had something come up last minute; don’t wait for him.” Arabella sat down, and a servant wanted to serve her soup.
Chasel quickly said, “I’ll do it.”
He served Arabella soup and rice and handed her the utensils.
“Bella, which dish do you want to try?” Chasel intended to serve her himself.
“Of course it’s this one I made! I just learned it today! You must try it!”
After Louisa finished, Kenneth said, “The three I made are pretty good too; try a bite first.
“What? You’re trying to compete with me?”
“No, no, Arabella can try yours first, and then mine.” Kenneth hurriedly explained.
Then, a voice exclaimed, “Serena, you’re back?”
Louisa followed the sound and saw Serena standing not far away, still in her school uniform.
She got up in surprise and said, “Serena, how come you’re back?”
“Why shouldn’t I come back?” Serena looked a bit downcast and somewhat aggrieved.
Louisa quickly said, “No, I mean, aren’t you participating in extracurricular activities?
“I heard Chasel was back, so I wanted to see him. Isn’t Arabella also participating in extracurricular activities?” Serena meant, wasn’t Arabella back too?
She bit her lip and said, “If there’s no food prepared for me at home, it’s okay; I just came to see Chasel; I’ll leave after a glance.”
“What, is our house running out of food?” Kenneth also stood up and walked over to her, patting her shoulder with a smile and saying, “Tired, huh? Come join us for dinner.”
He explained, “Your brother came back suddenly and didn’t notify us in advance. We thought you were busy with extracurricular activities, so we didn’t tell you, afraid you’d be too tired. Arabella happened to run into your brother at school.”
Serena obviously didn’t believe it. Huh? Who did they think they were fooling?
Chasel worked at the Ministry of State Security. Even if he came back suddenly, he wouldn’t go to Arabella’s school and not come to find her!
After all, she and Chasel had lived together for eighteen years, and Arabella had only just come back a few days ago.
Chapter 649
Dad lied without batting an eye, did he really think he can pull the wool over her eyes?
Instead, it’s the sharp Louisa who suddenly turned to Martha on the side and asked, “Did you spill the beans on Serena?”
“Serena has been missing Chasel. When Chasel suddenly came back today, I was so excited that I let the cat out of the bag.” Martha added, lowering her head on purpose, “I’m sorry, madam, it’s all my fault!”
Louisa was left speechless, as if she didn’t want Serena to see Chasel!
“Serena’s back?” Chasel saw his other sister, treated her no differently, and gently said, “Come eat.”
“Chasel, you’re finally back! It’s been so many months since our last meet–up; I missed you so much!” Serena’s eyes turned red as soon as she saw Chasel, as if she had been wronged.
“You’re all grown up and still crying?” Chasel laughed and pulled out a chair for her. “I’ve been busy with work, and now Bella is back home, so I’ll try to come back whenever I can.”
A servant bowed and handed Serena her cutlery: “Serena, here’s your cutlery.”
Serena, looking at the things in the living room, couldn’t help but ask, “Chasel, did you buy these for me?”
Chasel had said before he left home last time that he would bring her a gift when he returned.
Chasel glanced at the living room and said somewhat guiltily, “No.”
“Huh?”
“They’re for Bella.”
The light in Serena’s eyes dimmed, and she said nothing.
“What do you like? I’ll buy it for you.”
Because he had never bought a gift for Arabella before, he had indeed forgotten about Serena when he was picking out gifts today.
Serena smiled and said, “It’s okay. My sister just came back to this home; it’s only right to buy her more.”
This made Chasel feel even guiltier.
Serena’s eyes fell on Arabella again, and she couldn’t help but compliment her, “Sis, your skin is still so delicate; look at me, I got sunburned! I bet the sunscreen David bought for you works wonders. I’ll have to ask David what brand of sunscreen he bought for you.”
She said this to let everyone know that David only bought for Arabella, not for her, and that Chasel had forgotten about her that day.
Everyone in this family said they treat her as their own, but in the end, every single thing they did was biased.
“I didn’t use the sunscreen David bought.” Arabella suddenly said.
Serena was a bit skeptical, how could it be possible without using sunscreen after being outdoors so much?
“I was born with it,” Arabella spoke the truth.
Edith, on the side, keeping a poker face, tried to defuse the situation: “Ms. Bella’s skin is naturally good, just like the madam!”
“Yes, yes, yes, I never get sunburned, no matter how much sun I get.” Louisa laughed.
“Is it genetic?” Serena lowered her head, feeling like she had no connection with this family.
The atmosphere became awkward once again.
Just then, a voice came over, saying, “Sorry, I’m late.”
It was Romeo!
Hearing his voice, Serena’s eyes lit up again. Was Romeo also coming home for dinner?
“Romeo, have you finished all your stuff?” Kenneth brought over a chair himself and said, “Come over; we’re about to start dinner.”
He placed the chair next to Serena and said, “Serena, stand up and give your seat to Romeo.”
Chapter 650
Serena was originally sitting next to Arabella, but once Kenneth finished speaking, she had to awkwardly stand up and vacate her seat. A servant moved Serena’s chair next to Louisa. After Serena sat down, she noticed Romeo and Chasel both serving Arabella food.
“Tastes good,” Arabella said. “They did a good job with the shrimp.”
“I’ve never tasted my mom’s cooking before.” Chasel also took a bite. Surprised, he looked at Louisa and asked, “Did you do this all by yourself?”
“Is it good?” Louisa asked with a hint of pride, “Bet you didn’t expect my cooking skills to be so on point.”
“My wife’s cooking is top–notch!” Kenneth tasted a bite, nodded repeatedly, and praised, “This meat is tender and firm, even better than a professional chef!”
“Indeed, it tastes good, let me try my dad’s cooking.” Chasel took a piece of braised abalone, and his eyes lit up. He didn’t expect his sister’s homecoming to inspire his parents‘ culinary skills.
“Romeo, this dish is good, you should try it.” Chasel also served Romeo food.
“Romeo, eat more!” Louisa also served a lot of food into Romeo’s bowl.
“Romeo, how about some wine?”
As soon as Kenneth picked up the wine bottle, Romeo declined, saying, “I have to drive Bella back to school later.”
“I also have to go back to school! Brother–in–law, sister, can you drop–me–off on your way?”
Serena was at Summerfield College, and Arabella’s Westerly College was in the same university town..
But Romeo and Arabella simultaneously said, “It’s not convenient.”
Arabella added, “You should let our driver take you.”
Serena pretended to be disappointed. “How about it, Chasel? Can you take me back?”
If she couldn’t get Romeo, Chasel was a good alternative.
Perhaps afraid that Chasel would refuse, she added, “I heard you’re on vacation at home, with nothing to do?”
Chasel thought that since he now had two sisters, it wouldn’t be fair to just drive one of them, so he declined, as Arabella did: “Let our driver take you; I have things to deal with later.”
“Alright then.” Serena pretended to be disappointed, then picked up her bowl and said, “Chasel, can you serve me a chicken wing? It’s too far for me to reach.” “Chasel, can you pour me some soup from over there?” Serena showed a sweet smile, “Thanks, Chasel; I knew you were always the best to me!”
During the meal, Serena tried every means to let Chasel serve her alone, wanting Arabella to know that in this family, Chasel listened to her, she was the one truly loved by the Collins family for eighteen years!
“You’re such a princess,” Kenneth laughed. “Look at Bella; she doesn’t need to bother Chasel.”
“It’s because Chasel spoils me,” Serena pretended to be happy.
After dinner, Arabella received a message from her subordinates.
[Boss, there’s no one at your front door.]
No one? Did that person leave?
“I’m going out for a bit; wait for me here.”
After Arabella left, Romeo and Chasel looked at each other, feeling somewhat puzzled.
