The Otherside: Jay McClayn: This Is High School (Book 1)

Chapter 20

I pulled away from Jason as Harrison walked out of the master bedroom. Harrison immediately noticed Jason. “What took you so long?” Jason walked towards Harrison and handed him the antidote. The antidote was a liquid in a small, plain, round glass bottle with a cork on the top.

“It’s a long story and I will explain it later, but Jamie won’t take the antidote so you hold onto it.” Harrison took the antidote. I could see he was very angry.

“What’s wrong Harrison?” I managed to make out. I was a little afraid because he was really upset.

“Jamie, do you mind if Jason and I have a little chat?” Harrison replied.

“O-okay.” I didn’t want to cross paths with him tonight, I had never seen him this angry.

“I-I will just go to bed.” I walked away, but I didn’t go to my room. I stayed in the hall peeking down the stairs. I’m guessing Harrison set down the antidote while I was leaving, because it was out of his hands and I immediately saw Harrison decking Jason.

“What was that for?” I heard Jason yell. I hid around the corner after seeing that. I didn’t want to see them fighting.

“You know what you did! I heard it from one of the soldiers. If you break Jay’s heart, you will die by my hands.” I heard a thud. I peaked around to see Jason up against the wall with magic.

“Look, I didn’t ask for her to do that.”

I saw Harrison’s hand go up to Jason’s throat. “Then why did you stay with her so long? Jay has been here miserable without you, missing you and you do that?”

Jason hit a pressure point on Harrison’s arm which made Harrison release his throat. “That is my home Harrison. I was miserable without her too, which is why the one and only time Alice came on to me, I told her to not do it again and that Jay was back. She kissed me, not the other way around.”

After he said that Harrison let him go. “Do you not know the wrath of a dragon?” he said calming down a bit.

“I do, but she is a half dragon, half the size of a normal, so I’m hoping it won’t be so bad.”

Harrison shook his head. “Alice is an excellent witch and is a great fighter in her half dragon form, you better hope she doesn’t come after you and Jay.”

Jason put his hand on Harrison’s shoulder. Their backs were facing me. “Look, I thought I would never see her again. I was only with Alice because of that. Now that Jamie is here, I will not choose any girl over her. I’m in love with her Harrison, not Alice.”

Harrison sighed “If she gets hurt because of you, I will not forgive you.”

Jason sighed. “I won’t forgive myself either.” Jason took his hand off Harrison’s shoulder. “I’m going to go to my room and get some sleep. There is no school tomorrow. I’ll watch Jay if you want to go train some soldiers.”

Harrison sighed. “They will all have hangovers. I’m giving them a day to recover. Plus, I’m not leaving you two alone.” Harrison replied.

“Fair enough, goodnight.” He began to walk towards the stairs and I quickly got up and ran to my room and shut the door. I got in my bed, magically changed into my pjs and pretended like I was asleep. I heard a knock on the door, so I slowly got up and answered it. It was Harrison.

“I’m sorry about that.” He said as he walked in.

“I-it’s fine. It was past one, I probably should have been in bed already.”

Harrison shook his head. “You know what I meant. I know you saw and I’m sorry you had to find out that way.”

I looked down letting everything sink in. “What gave it away?” I asked letting everything else process.

“I saw you out of the corner of my eye when Jason was against the wall.” He replied.

“Oh” I paused. “I don’t think I want to meet Alice anymore.” I said stupidly. Harrison pulled me into a hug and I began to cry. “At least he loves me, right?” I said poking my head up after a bit.

“Yes, he does.” Harrison replied

“Everything should be okay then. Do you think Jason knows I know?” Harrison sighed after my question.

“I doubt it, he was too focused on the fact I was about to kill him.” My hands shook at his answer.

“Oh...y-yeah.”

Harrison let go of me. “Everything will be okay hon. Now get some actual sleep.” He kissed my forehead.

“Thank you.” I said as he walked out and shut the door. I then walked to my bed and laid down with my teddy bear. I eventually passed out not knowing exactly how to feel or what to do.
