Chapter 3
Chapter 3
Julian didn’t even flinch at the price Alexandra had bargained for.
After all, they were just using the other for their own means.
Right then, both the company and the family were tangled in a mess. He didn’t wish to waste his time on an unwelcome marriage.
It didn’t matter who he married.
Since Alexandra showed up at the doorstep, he would take her as his bri
A partnership was more tractable than emotions.
Alexandra gulped and licked her lips nervously. She knew that opportunities seldom knock twice.
And yet, a huge chunk of pie fell right into her lap!
The girl stared at Julian intensely and asked tremblingly, “Are you sure about that?”
“I wouldn’t joke about this.
“Deal! Alright!”
Alexandra swiftly did the math in her heart.
If she married Julian, she would get one million from Peter and a monthly allowance of 210 thousand dollars from Julian.
This meant she would get 3 million… No, about 4 million dollars a year!
In other words, she would be rich!
Moreover, she had nothing to lose since their marriage was fake.
Julian was even willing to help her search for Ace, and she didn’t have to worry about her accommodation in Highclere City.
This was genuinely killing three birds with one stone!
Alexandra glanced at Julian and couldn’t help feeling pity for him. Indeed, he was rich, but he was also a fool.
When Julian saw the girl agree so quickly, his lips quirked into a smirk.
Thinking back, he felt ridiculous as well. Initially, he just wanted to meet the stand–in bride, who came in unannounced.
He didn’t expect to strike a deal with her after their conversation.
Although the girl was intelligent and greedy, she wasn’t detestable.
Over the years, Julian got used to seeing the dark side of humans‘ hearts.
Due to this, he constantly assumed the intentions and objectives of those who suddenly appeared by his side.
However, Alexandra was the only one who spoke the truth the moment they met.
He didn’t even have to guess what she was scheming.
He believed life wouldn’t be so tiring with such a girl by his side.
“Well then, Ms. Doherty, I hope we will have a successful cooperation. Julian smiled.
Cocking her head to one side, Alexandra warned, “Just to be clear, I’m only pretending to be your wife. Don’t you dare request something else!”
Juliana chuckled at her useless concern. “Rest assured. You’re not the only female companion I have. I’ll have someone send you the contract after drafting it.”
Alexandra was just about to compliment his lenience when her stomach suddenly growled.
Worse, the sound echoed in the spacious and silent office. Alexandra was so cularrassed that she wanted to hide in a hole.
Only then did Julian remember the girl had traveled ten hours by train to arrive in Highclere City.
According to the time, she must have rushed over to the company to talk things out without having a meal.
Julian glanced at Marco, who understood his intentions and left the office immediately.
A minute later, Marco returned with a plate of snacks and a cup of coffee.
He placed the food on the table and said. “Here are some snacks from the company’s pantry, Ms. Doherty. Please enjoy.”
Alexandra thanked him and took a chocolate lava cake. She tore the cake in half and took a bite.
“It’s so delicious!” Alexandra exclaimed in her heart.
She looked so content, as if this was her first time savoring such delectable treats.
Seeing her face, Marco tried his best to hold back his laughter. He couldn’t help but think that Alexandra was a strange girl.
She brazenly barged into the CEO’s office without putting on decent makeup.
And declared that she was Julian’s fiancee.
Not to mention, she dared to strike a deal with the man.
She didn’t even mind her table manners in front of the boss.
If it were other women, they would probably put on an act.
Marco turned to look at Julian, who was watching Alexandra consume her food. His eyes were full of interest.
At that moment, Marco had a feeling that Julian and Alexandra would make a lovely couple.
Alexandra was enjoying the food when her phone suddenly rang. It was from Peter.
She remembered she needed to settle her business with Peter and hurriedly stood up.
“Uh… Excuse me, Mr. Ranford.” She was chewing a cake in her mouth, and her voice buzzed like a bee. “I have a family business to attend to. I’ll take my leave now,”
Hearing that, Julian stood up to see her off.
To his surprise, he watched as Alexandra bent over and stuffed the remaining snacks into her hag
The bag was gradually filled to the brim.
Julian had nothing to say.
Marco was speechless as well.
After leaving Ranford Tower, Alexandra took a taxi to the Doherty family residence on North Star Drive.

Chapter 3
Even though she was mentally prepared, Alexandra was still amazed by the opulence of the Doherty family.
Just then, she saw a maid in a yellow apron open the door.
The maid was a middle–aged woman with a stocky build. She looked Alexandra up and down with a hint of contempt in her eyes. Still, she greeted respectfully, “You must be the young lady. Please come inside.”
Alexandra followed the maid into the residence. When they arrived at the spacious living room, she saw the mistress of the house. Margot Henstridge, sitting on the couch and drinking tea.
Alexandra pursed her lips.
She looked around and saw no sight of her father.
Meanwhile, Margot was taking her time enjoying the tea in her hand.
Dressed in a purple traditional dress, she sat gracefully on the couch like a proper and noble lady.
Unfortunately, Alexandra knew this woman wasn’t her biological mother–Margot was Peter’s second wife. When Peter found Alexandra, he told his daughter that her birth mother had passed away 18 years ago.
Margot used to be Peter’s personal assistant. After the death of Alexandra’s mother, she became the new mistress of the Doherty family.
At that moment, Margot slowly put down the cup in her hand.
She shot a glance at Alexandra’s white sports shoes and frowned. Her gaze then landed on the maid, Anna.
Holding a pair of white slippers in her hand, Anna said, “You should change your shoes when you enter the house, Ms. Alexandra.”
Alexandra glanced at her and refuted nonchalantly, “Whose slippers are those? I don’t want to get my feet stinking.”
Anna was speechless.
Margot dismissed Anna with a wave of her hand. She then stood up with a smile. “You must be Alexandra. Your father will be returning soon. Why don’t you eat something? We’ve prepared some food for you in the kitchen.”
Her attitude was somewhat distant.
“No, thank you. I just ate, Alexandra replied truthfully.
She then set her luggage aside.
The only remaining item she brought was a white crossbody bag filled with snacks from Julian’s office.
Looking around the interior decoration of the house, she couldn’t help but sigh as memories of her twenty years of living in the small village came flooding back.
She indeed had a stroke of bad luck. First, she was taken away by mistake. To add to her misfortune, her biological father was a billionaire in Highclere City.
Her luxurious life was taken away by others.
While she lived miserably for the past 20 years.
Margot sized Alexandra up with her well–groomed eyebrows. Her lips quirked into a sneering smirk.
They said that the surrounding environment would influence a person’s temperament. Those words held some truth.
So what if she was born as a lady? In the end, she was raised as a hillbilly.
With a scornful smile, Margot said, “It’s a huge house, isn’t it? After all, this is the best villa area in Highclere City. If you do wam to cat, you may rest in the guest room we prepared for you.”
Alexandra knew that she wasn’t welcome in the family. Hence, she went straight to the point. “When does your husband
return?”
“Your father is having a meeting right now. He said he’d come home soon.”
“Oh.”
So it would seem that despite being his biological daughter, Alexandra couldn’t see her father during her first visit as he wa too busy with work.
Just as Alexandra was feeling awkward, she heard noises coming from the door.
