Chapter 10
Chapter 10
When Alexandra turned around, the first thing she saw was the woman’s arrogant posture.
Alexandra shuddered for some reason, and her black suit almost slipped off her shoulders.
The woman’s gaze was drawn to the exquisitely made high–end suit. She was slightly surprised.
Then, she finally looked Alexandra up and down.
The woman was also wearing designer clothes, but her suit and dress were in a completely different league compared to a few clothes that Alexandra had on the hangers.
As she thought about it, the woman’s gaze toward Alexandra hekl a hint of her amusement.
“Thank you so much, young lady!” the woman said. Her voice was lively and crisp, just like her demeanor.
Although the woman was not wearing any makeup, Alexandra could tell that the woman had a natural beauty.
However, her beauty had some edges and was wild in its own way.
Alexandra genuinely liked her from the bottom of her heart, and she thought it was a strange feeling.
Perhaps, when it came to meeting people and forming sudden bonds, fate was always at play.
Alexandra shook her head and said to the woman. You’re welcome. Those who chased after you are obviously not good people!”
The woman curled her lips and took a bottle of mineral water that was on the table. She then twisted the bottle cap and took a few sips. Even drinking water looked cool when she did it.
Alexandra could not help but show a fangirl stile.
“Hello, sis, Alexandra said, ‘my name is Alexandra. What’s your name? And why did those people chase after you?” Alexandra walked over, wanting to chat with the woman a bit more.
The woman put down the bottle of mineral water and put on her hat. She seemed unwilling to answer Alexandra’s questions.
However, seeing Alexandra’s eager and curious gaze, the woman felt that she did not have the heart to ignore Alexandra’s questions. The woman thought she might be too ungrateful if she were to do so.
The woman then said, “My name is Lisa Abbotwell.”
After Lisa finished speaking, she put on her peaked cap. She looked as if she was about to run away.
For some reason, Alexandra felt a bit reluctant to let Lisa go. She even thought about asking to stay overnight
However, Lisa had already walked to the door and was peeking through the peephole to check the outside.
The noise outside had already subsided, and people seemed to have dispersed.
Almost no one was left.
As Lisa placed her hand on the door handle, Alexandra’s voice could be heard from behind. “Lisa, if you don’t mind, don’t leave tonight,” Alexandra said. “Just stay here!”
Lisa moved her body slightly and turned around to look at Alexandra, who was standing four feet away.
Lisa raised the corner of the right part of her lips and said, “Thank you, angel. I have something else to do, so I’ll leave now!”
Chapter 10
“Al wait!”
Alexandra wondered if Lisa had been too preoccupied with escaping and had forgotten to eat.
So, she ran to the clothing rack where her bag was and took out two unfinished snacks from inside the bag.
Those were the snacks that Alexandra didn’t finish in the CEO’s office at Ranford Tower.
Alexandra ran to Lisa. She ignored Lisa’s surprised expression and stuffed the two coconut buns into the pocket of her black jacket.
“Sis, you need to eat and be full in order to have the energy to run!” Alexandra said.
Lisa showed a kind smile and shook her head. Her hand was already twisting the doorknob.
As Lisa was about to leave, she saw a high–end men’s suit on the bed. It was a suit that didn’t seem to belong to Alexandra’s social class at all.
Lisa suddenly fixed her eyes on Alexandra and said. “Alexandra, if you want to get into a relationship, just find a boy and date. properly. Don’t cover things that can fly away. Otherwise, you will get hurt.”
Alexandra frowned in confusion.
As Lisa looked at Alexandra’s expression, she could tell that Alexandra did not understand what she meant.
Lisa decided to be blunt as she did not want to see the young girl, to whom she owed a debt of gratitude, being toyed around by a wealthy playboy.
Lisa pointed to the man’s clothes behind her and said, “That suit belongs to your male companion tonight, right? Do you know how much that suit costs? An average person couldn’t afford it even after working for 10 years. Don’t get deceived by 2 man’s sweet words! You’re still young. Don’t be foolish!”
Lisa’s words made Alexandra stunned. Alexandra only realized at the end that Lisa seemed to have misunderstood
something.
“It’s not what you think, sis…”
Alexandra wanted to explain, but Lisa had already opened the door and stuck her head out to look at the hallway.
Alexandra swallowed her unspoken explanation.
However, Lisa turned back to her, as if she remembered that Alexandra was about to explain something.
Lisa said. “Remember my words. Women should not be men’s playthings!”
Alexandra felt that Lisa’s speculation had insulted Julian. She could not help but defend Julian. “Sis, it’s not what you think,” Alexandra said. “He is a very cultured and good man!”
Lisa remained unmoved and continued to smile. She adjusted her peaked cap and left a parting remark. “If he’s so great, why don’t you ask him to marry you?” she said. “Let’s see if he agrees!”
Lisa then sneaked out like the wind.
Alexandra quickly crawled to the door to take a look. She saw the agile and sexy figure disappear quickly at the end of the hallway.
Alexandra went back to the room. She felt a bit confused about what Lisa had just said.
Clearly, Lisa had misunderstood.
Alexandra felt disappointed, but she shrugged it off. After all, she would not see Lisa again in the future.
Alexandra hoped that Lisa would be safe and sound and that she would return to her family and friends.
She also hoped that those fierce and vicious people would not find Lisa.
After all that had happened, Alexandra was really tired.
She went to bed and fell asleep right away after taking a shower.
What Alexandra did not know was that after dinner, Julian was summoned by Josephine to her room. They had a good chat for a while.
Even though Josephine did not dislike Alexandra that much, she was, after all, a noble lady. She did not mind treating Alexandra, who was a country bumpkin, with courtesy. However, she was somewhat dissatisfied with the idea of accepting Alexandra as her granddaughter–in–law.
As a result, Josephine was bad–mannered when she spoke to Julian.
Josephine blamed Julian for making the decision without informing her in advance, which gave her such a big scare.
Julian sat opposite Josephine. With his head down, he listened to Josephine’s reprimanding words. He did not utter a single word in defense.
Julian waited for Josephine to finish nagging before he said, “Grams, it’s all the same. To me, it doesn’t matter whom I marry.”
Josephine immediately widened her eyes and asked, “What do you mean ‘it’s all the same? Is Veronica, the pianist, comparable to Alexandra?”
“Do you think Veronica, the pianist, is willing to marry me?” Julian asked calmly.
Josephine had nothing to say. She hesitated and then sighed heavily.
She said softly, Julian, it’s all my fault and your dad’s fault…”
Julian smiled and comforted Josephine. He said, “Grams, there’s no need to blame anyone. Since it’s an engagement arranged by my grandparents and the Kanford family has always been faithful, we should keep our promise. Besides, Alexandra is indeed a daughter of the Doherty family, and she… she’s a pretty good girl”
Josephine’s wrinkled hand rested on Julian’s shoulder. Just as she was about to say something, Julian stopped her. “Grams, let’s leave it at that,” he said. “I will marry Alexandra.”
Julian returned to his room. It was then that he dared to show his true emotions.
He was really tired.
He walked up to the window and made a call. After two rings, the call was answered.
“Hello, Mr. Ranford.” A deep male voice came from the other end of the line.
“Any news about Yoya?” Julian asked. When Julian mentioned that name, his eyes showed infinite tenderness and longing,
He rubbed his forehead to dispel the tiredness of the night.
The man on the other end of the line replied, “No news about Yoya, Mr. Ranford. Ever since Yoya finished her recital in Glocamia three years ago, she has completely disappeared from the public eye.”
“Alright. I got it,” Julian said.
“We’ll be able to find her, Mr. Ranford,” the man said, “Don’t worry. And Ace too. We’ll be able to find him as well.”
Instead of replying, Julian took a deep breath and said, “Help me prepare for the wedding. Nothing too grand. Close family
members are the only ones who will attend. Get the best wedding dress.”
“Okay, Mr. Ranford,” the man said.
