Chapter 9
Avery and Yelang had a million questions for me throughout the week. Some, I couldn't answer. Aspen knew, and he was the only person who needed to know. Sunday, I had a movie night with Aspen in the theater. I think he was trying to make me feel better about going back to hell... I meant school.
Monday, a consistent beeping woke me up. I groaned and smashed the alarm clock before snuggling deeper into Aspen's side. I heard him chuckle before he wasn't in the bed anymore. I shot up and looked around to see him standing with his arms crossed at the end of the bed.
"What are you doing?" I snapped at him. I didn't mean to snap, I just wasn't in a good mood. He held his arms out for me.
"Come here," he said softly. I crawled to the end of the bed and he picked me up. Instantly, I wrapped my legs around his waist and rested my head on his shoulder. It probably looked like a dad holding a sleepy toddler. Aspen rubbed my back gently as he walked into the bathroom.
"Don't make me go," I begged, not bringing my head up from his shoulder. He sat me down on the stool in the bathroom and started brushing through my hair carefully. Avery thought it would be a good idea to dye it back to my natural color, so it was jet-black again.
"You have to. Yelang will be there, and you'll meet some more of our pack members who are your age. I want you to finish your education. I don't want you to stop because of me," he said, running the brush through my scalp now. The motion made me want to go back to sleep.
He took and warm towel and ran it over my face before he held my jaw lightly and kissed me. I only responded by holding my arms out for him to pick me up again. He sighed and turned the shower on before stripping the clothes off of both of us. He picked me up the same way as before and stepped into the shower. The hot water felt good against my back. I pulled my head up and kissed him gently, hoping to distract him in the shower. It worked. Our shower turned out dirtier than he intended.
When we got out of the shower, I was in a much better mood. Aspen set me down before wrapping a towel around me and giving my head a quick kiss. I could only smile like an idiot. He laughed at me.
"Feeling better," he asked amused. I nodded and started drying off.
"Much," I admitted. I noticed that he already had clothes set out for me. I looked at the baggy sweat pants and turtleneck in disbelief. "Aspen, you can't be serious," I said, holding up the turtleneck. He shrugged.
"I don't want boys looking at what's mine," he said seriously. I rolled my eyes.
"That's it, I'm letting Avery dress me," I said, walking out of the bathroom. Aspen growled and pressed me up against the wall.
"Nothing too inappropriate," he warned me. I smiled and pecked him gently.
"I promise. No need to wolf out on me," I joked. He blushed as his eyes went back to their golden color.
"Sorry," he said sheepishly. I pushed up on my toes and kissed him deeply. His hand went to my waist as he pulled me closer. My arms snaked around his neck.
"I won't dress too crazy, but there's no way I'm wearing that sack," I smiled when I pulled away. He smiled as well as he let out a chuckle.
"Alright, fine," he said huskily. "Now go before I take you again on the bed," he said in mock warning. I kissed him again.
"I wouldn't mind that," I said softly before I left for Avery's room with just a towel wrapped around my body. Avery was all too happy to dress me. She stuck me in a high-waisted black skinny jeans, a black and white plaid long-sleeved blouse, red converse, and a black purse. It was cute, yet it had coverage. It was perfect. I thanked Avery before I walked down to the kitchen for breakfast. Yelang had a buffet set out. There were eggs, pancakes, waffles, bagels, bacon, sausage, yogurt, and more. She smiled when she saw me.
"I thought food might help your nerves," she explained. I hugged her before I made a plate for myself. Yelang left for school. Aspen came down while I was eating and kissed my head.
"Hurry, princess. We don't want you to be late to your first day back to school," he said with a small smile. After I finished eating, Aspen took my hand and brought me out to the garage. "Which one?" he asked me. I thought it over before I chose the muscle car. I chose the black Mustang. We got in and he drove to the school.
It was just as I remembered. Teens littered the parking lot and school. I knew there were a lot more inside. I also knew who was inside.
My old pack was here.
My hands got clammy, as I grew more nervous. Aspen took my hand in his as I looked to him. He smiled lightly.
"You're going to be fine. I have Ben protecting you. His schedule is the same as yours. He's meeting you at your locker this morning. He's Marco's son and I trust him. If you need anything, just link me," he said as he tapped his finger to his temple. He got out and came around to open my door. The shocked stares didn't go unnoticed by me. They were probably looking at Aspen though, he was a gorgeous and intimidating man. They were probably wondering why the Alpha of the Silver Bullet pack was driving a girl to school. I stepped out only to by crushed to Aspen's chest.
"See if they mess with you after this," he said lowly before he kissed me deeply. I forget where I was as I wrapped my arms around his neck. My back arched slightly as he pulled me even closer to him. He broke the kiss and leaned his forehead against mine. "I love you," he said softly. I smiled and pecked him again.
"I love you too," I said. If I meant it or not, I wasn't sure, but I was grateful for him. He kissed my head and slowly let me go.
"Have a good day at school. Link me if you need anything. I won't be far. I'll be back to pick you up," he said before he got in the car again.
