The Minx

Chapter 3

"You told her I was human?" I asked after he closed the door. He shrugged.

"Would you have rather me tell her that you can't shift and have everyone pity you?" he asked. I shut my mouth and sighed. I knew he was right, but it still hurt. I looked down and fidgeted with my hands. He sighed and came closer to me. "Camilla, I did it to protect you, as I promised," he said, pulling me close to him.

"You touch me a lot," I noted.

"I am a very affectionate man. Plus, I've been too long without a woman," he said softly. An involuntary shiver ran down my spine.

"Did you get to mate with you're fated mate?" I asked. He shook his head.

"No, I didn't. Which is why I want to mate with you as soon as possible," he said. Panic set in as I looked at him. He pushed a strand of hair out of my face and kissed my head. "Relax, I said soon, not right this moment. You're mine, little minx. I've grown quite fond of you. It almost feeling like you're actually my fated mate," he admitted.

I knew what he meant. As he touched me now, I felt butterflies erupt in my stomach. What Jack did to me only felt like a dull ache. I nodded hesitantly.

"What was her name?" I asked softly. He sighed and looked away from me. I didn't think he was going to answer me.

"Caitlyn," he answered quietly after a while.

"That's pretty."

"Here," he said, changing the subject. His incisors dropped and he bit into his wrist before holding it to my mouth. I'd only heard rumors about what he was trying to do. I thought it was a myth. Apparently, if you drink the blood of another werewolf, it strengths a bond between the two as if they were actually fated mates. It was called, blood bond. It was rumored to help those who lost their mate. It was like tricking fate. Hesitantly, I brought my mouth to his wrist. It was weird, but I gulped down the blood before pulling my mouth away. He smiled satisfied.

"Thanks?" I said confused. He chuckled.

"You already had some of my blood when you were unconscious..." he said. I looked at him confused.

"Why does it feel like you're not telling me something," I asked. He sighed and sat me down on the bed.

"When we found you, you were barely alive. You were out for two days with me giving you my blood. That might very well have been the only thing that was keeping you alive. It was like you didn't want to wake up," he explained. I sighed and closed my eyes.

"I didn't," I admitted. "I know that your mate was taken from you too early, but it's ten times more painful when your mate chooses to reject you. He said... he said I was too weak and pathetic. No one would take me seriously, and he was right. And after everything I'd been through... All my life, I thought finally having a mate would be this wonderful thing. Something to pull me from the harsh reality that was my life. Truth is, I'm broken," I said, getting lost in my own thoughts. Aspen pulled my chin up and brushed away my tears that I didn't realize fell.

"I can protect you and teach you how to fight. I want to," he said. I nodded and tried to swallow the lump in my throat.

"Why?" I asked. He shrugged.

"You remind me a lot of my mate, and when I first saw you, I thought you were her for a moment. You're special... I just don't know exactly how yet," he explained. I sniffled and wiped away my stray tears.

"You promised me a tour," I said, trying to change the subject. He chuckled lightly and nodded.

"That I did," he stood and offered me a hand. I took it and he showed me around. We were in his house, which was gigantic by the way. There were 6 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms, a theater room, a billiards room, indoor and outdoor pool equipped with Jacuzzis and waterslides, a dining room, living room, kitchen, study, and gym complete with a boxing ring.

When the tour was over, he led me back to the kitchen where he ordered a woman to make us something to eat. I noticed what he meant about his attitude. He was stiff and rude when he was around other people. He sat down and pulled me onto his lap. He kissed my neck, making me shiver slightly.

"You don't have to be so mean," I muttered. He chuckled into my neck. We heard a crash in the kitchen. I ran to see what was happening. The lady who was cooking looked shocked to say the least. She was staring at us wide-eyed. Aspen growled from behind me, making her shake in fear. I turned and placed a hand on his chest.

"You're scaring her," I noted. He looked at me and sighed.

"Fine," he grumbled before walking away. I walked over to the lady and helped her pick up the pots.

"Hi, what's your name?" I asked. She watched me warily as she set the pots back on the counter.

"My name is Yelang, Luna," she answered. She was really pretty. She had a pretty round face with olive skin and small black eyes. Her hair was long and jet-black. She was of Asian decent.

"You can call me Cami," I said. She nodded and averted her gaze. "You don't have to be scared of me. Are you the Omega of the pack?" I asked her she looked at me and chuckled.

"We don't have an Omega. Our whole pack can fight. We don't have any weak-links here. It's required," she said. I nodded thoughtfully.

"I'll cook," I offered. She started to protest, but I shot her a look that told her not to argue. She sighed and took a seat at the island as I got to work on making pasta and fish."Cami, what's taking so-" Aspen came into the kitchen and froze when he saw me. I smiled over to him before turning back to my cooking.

"Dinner is almost ready," I said, sprinkling a little seasoning onto the pasta. I felt arms wrap around my waist as Aspen growled in approval into my hair.

"You, little minx, are full of surprises," he muttered into my hair. I giggled and pushed him off of me gently.

"I'm almost done. Be patient," I said. He grumbled and kissed the top of my head before he went sat patiently next to Yelang. Yelang sat erect as she gulped. I set the food on three plates and set two in front of Yelang and Aspen. Yelang looked at me shocked.

"You didn't have to-"

"Oh hush and eat. It was no trouble at all," I cut her off. I grabbed my own plate and sat next to Aspen who was practically inhaling the food. He went back for seconds and even thirds. I chuckled as I put our plates in the sink and began washing them. Aspen snuck up behind me and stopped my hands. I jumped slightly but he didn't notice, or if he did, he let it go.

"You're not doing that," he said. He kissed my cheek and spun me around to face him. "Come, let's go to bed," he said as he dried my hands off.

"I'll see you soon, Yelang," I smiled at her as Aspen pulled me away.
