Chapter 90
Chapter 90
She had been drunk earlier, but now she was halfway sober. The scorching sensation of the kiss felt all too real. Never in her life had she imagined that she would kiss Leonard.
‘So this is what a kiss feels like.’
Lisa was usually decisive, but now she felt flustered as her heart raced. She knew something would happen if she continued.
Using almost all her strength, Lisa pushed Leonard away. She quickly grabbed the bathrobe from the floor and ran into the bathroom, shutting the door behind her.
Leonard’s face turned angry. He approached the door and knocked forcefully. “Lisa, open the door.”
“No, we can’t do this.” Lisa urged.
“What do you mean we can’t do this? We’re already married. Are you toying with me?”
Lisa stood under the shower and tried to calm down. She wanted to sober up and allow the water to wash away the unfamiliar sensations inside her. After what felt like an eternity, her mind finally cleared.
She remembered that she did not text Leonard or ask him to come over.
‘How did he end up here? Could it be that he came over to sleep with me?’
Lisa felt uncomfortable thinking about the possibilities.
She turned off the shower and dried herself. Lisa looked in the mirror and saw that her face was red, her lips were swollen, and she had a lot of love marks on her neck and shoulders. Her face turned red from embarrassment and anger when she thought about what had happened.
Lisa put on her bathrobe and took a few deep breaths in the bathroom before getting the courage to go outside.
Leonard was already sitting on the edge of the bed, his shirt loosely buttoned. He looked less noble and more disheveled. He was holding a cigarette and seemed in a bad mood. His handsome face was gloomy.
Upon seeing Lisa appear, his dissatisfaction reached its peak. He wanted to lash out, but he guessed Lisa might be inexperienced and scared.
‘She might still be a virgin. I need to be more patient.’
With that in mind, Leonard’s expression softened. “Since we’re married, this was bound to happen sooner or later. You’re usually very courageous. Why are you so scared today?”
Lisa looked confused. “What do you mean? Aren’t we eventually going to get divorced?”
“Divorced?” Leonard’s eyes darkened as if he heard something strange. “Didn’t we already reach an agreement not to
divorce?”
“What?” Lisa felt puzzled. “When did we agree to that?
Leonard laughed as he stood up. “Yesterday in the hospital, I explained my relationship with Stephanie to you. I want my other half to be independent and rational. You’re that type of person.
“Lisa, I’ll admit that I didn’t like you before, but I understand you better after getting to know you. I know you like money, and I can give you that. You only need to know your place, respect my boundaries, and not expect love or other unrealistic things from me.
“With that agreed, we don’t need to get divorced. You seemed tempted at that time, too, didn’t you?”
Lisa had been tempted, but she never agreed to stay married.
“I didn’t know, and you weren’t clear about it,” Lisa said in frustration.
“Did I need to state the obvious?” Leonard’s face darkened further. He was used to being in control, so making such a confession felt demeaning. “I’ve hinted enough. Besides, didn’t you act upon my hints and agree to have dinner with me? You
