Chapter 29
Chapter 29
Lisa did not want to get involved, but with guests present, she had no choice but to walk over.
When Quince glanced at Lisa, he was surprised by how young she appeared. She appeared to be only eighteen. Moreover, she wore a girlish white pajama set, with orange pants and jet-black hair over her shoulders.
Her skin was fair, her almond-shaped eyes were captivating, and her long black lashes resembled feathers. Her rosy complexion had a hint of youthful plumpness, and her lips had a natural honeyed pink hue even without lipstick
‘Tsk. She’s undeniably cute and pretty. I’m not even sure if she’s an adult yet. Leonard also mentioned how arrogant she is. How can that be? Surely Michelle bullied her and not the other way around.
‘Leonard is unbelievable. How could he mindlessly protect Michelle just because he doesn’t like Lisa? Michelle is only Leonard’s sister-in-law, so can she compare to being his wife?’
“Lisa, this is Leonard’s good friend, Quince,” David introduced.
“Hello,” Lisa said, nodding at Quince. “Hey, can you help me carry him upstairs? I’m not sure I can hold him up myself.”
“Sure, no problem.” Quince understood why the petite young lady could not handle Leonard’s weight. He immediately helped his friend into the bedroom. Upon entering, he was a little dumbfounded.
He had been in Leonard’s room before, but the bed was bare this time, devoid of bedsheets or pillows. He scanned the room and finally spotted a blanket on the floor a few feet from the bed. He deduced it must be Leonard’s makeshift sleeping
arrangement.
“Lisa, are you and Leonard sleeping on the floor instead of the bed?” Quince asked cautiously.
“No, I’m sleeping on the floor. You can just put Leonard on the bed,” Lisa replied, waving casually.
Quince was dumbfounded again. “But there’s nothing on the bed.”
“It doesn’t matter,” Lisa replied with indifference. After all, Leonard never respected her, so there was no need to pretend
anymore.
Quince was shocked.
‘Is this really Leonard’s wife? Now I understand why Leonard said she was arrogant. Was he bluffing when he said he could handle her, given her coc kiness?’
“Hey, he’ll catch a cold,” Quince voiced his dissatisfaction. “Since you’re married to Leonard, fulfill your role as his wife.”
“He didn’t tell you? We’re getting a divorce. Why should I bother taking care of him, then?” Lisa yawned, feeling sleepy. Okay, I’ll give him a blanket later. You can go now. I’m going to sleep.”
Quince left the house feeling speechless and shocked.
Lucas tagged Quince in their group chat and said, “Where’s the picture?”
Quince replied, “I forgot.”
“Do you want to die?”
“No, Lisa made me forget. Lucas, you have no idea how miserable Leonard is.”
“What happened?”
“When I left, Leonard was sleeping on an empty mattress. There was nothing on it. She took away the bedsheets.”
“What?”
“I
Quince continued, “Lisa’s ruthless and arrogant. I’ll never forget what I saw. Leonard looked so pitiful as he huddled on that cold, empty bed! Now I understand why he drank so much earlier. He must be suffering.”
“What a pity.”
Meanwhile, Lisa did not consider Leonard pitiful. Before bed, she kindly grabbed a coat from the wardrobe and threw it on top
of Leonard. However, she did not remove his shoes, wash his face, or wipe him down.
She pulled the covers over herself and fell into a comfortable sleep.
