Chapter Talk to my father
For this spell, I need a favorable environment, in the middle of the forest, far from any civilization.
A water point, and light.
I also have to take with me some crystals to form a portal and an emerald that my father gave me. I place it as a pendant on a gold paste around my neck.
I can’t always have it on me, the emerald draws on me to have the power to connect me to my father, it will wear me down continuously if I kept it permanently.
I take my brown hooded cape. My long-sleeved dress is in dark green velvet. I got into the habit of being discreet and I always try to blend into the background. I think that’s an advantage in many circumstances. We live in uncertain times.
I take my small leather bag over my shoulder and I leave to go to my usual little sanctuary.
I cross the forest quietly, the sun pierces the trees, the birds sing, I am aware of the families of deer and rabbits which are not far away.
Nature is a spectacle.
I breathe in deeply to benefit from the purifying air of the forest, my bare feet tread the fertile earth, I let the benefits of the sunlight nourish my skin, and I will join the water to be provided powers of each element for my ritual.
I arrive at my little lake provided by a stream that meanders through the forest. It falls in a small cascade before filling this crevasse formed by the earth surrounded by trees, then it leaves on the other side. It’s a designated place.
I need a small body of water but it has to be cool so in motion, it allows it to stay healthy and transport the minerals that come from various places in the territory.
I immerse my hands for some time in the water at the level of the small waterfall to have a greater concentration of minerals. I place my crystals in front of the lake to form a door, and I begin my incantations. They are concealed in an elvish song for my father’s call to the species.
I have to wait for him to hear my call and be ready to receive me.
The light begins to make the portal appear. My emerald warms my chest and my heart, I can enter.
I cross the portal and I find myself in the forest of the great Keram. I love going back to this place even though my dad reminds me that his raw nature is often dangerous.
“Hello, my angel." He said, hugging me.
"Hello dad”
I embrace my father who kisses my forehead. I may be 31 years old, but I will always be his little girl.
“So are you still enjoying your little corner of the kingdom?" He asked me, curious.
"Yes, it’s still ideal. The village people are very nice. The spells that are asked of me are always simple and benevolent. It is often so that their harvests are numerous and good. Or to preserve the beneficial atmosphere in their home. I’m not too busy and the local coven is far enough away to be left alone with my solitary life.
Dad, I came because I received my summons to the castle. My turn has come, I have to be there in two weeks.”
My father is looking at me intently as if reading or listening to something.
“...The time has come. Iris, you can succeed in this mission. The one for which you have long been prepared. You have acquired enough knowledge and wisdom to help our king.
It’s not going to be easy, sweety. Samael became very hostile and rejected. Even his children will find it difficult to approach him. The loss of his wife and the rebellion destroyed him, and the anger has not left him since.
You must know one thing... One thing about him that only the elves know, this truth has been kept secret by our species to preserve the safety of the royal family.
Our king has demon blood in him. His father Rhani was an unknowing half-demon, and his mother never confessed her deception.
Because of this, Samael ignores it, and it was better for everyone as well so that he can keep his rightful place and not risk another rebellion from the opponents who are fewer in number but still present.
Romeo, the son of Shezaar is now old enough to lead a small army that has remained faithful to the treacherous ideas of their late leader. It hasn’t appeared yet but may pose a threat.
I revealed to you the true identity of Samael so that you know how to help him, but you must absolutely keep his secret. He is not ready to hear this information which may upset his mind.
We all need our king to find peace and keep his place. He is clouded but remains a fair and valiant monarch. Have confidence in your abilities. Let yourself be guided by your instincts.
You are an exceptional being because you come from two species. It’s wealth, as I’ve always told you. Other hybrid beings exist and hide for their safety.
If we manage to cure Samael, I have hope for a brighter future.”
Here I am, with a certain weight on my shoulders. According to my father, there are very few people who can break our king’s curse. And he is convinced that I am one of them. I wouldn’t know anymore. My father is a very wise but quite mysterious person.
I know he doesn’t tell me everything so as not to influence my actions. He trusts me, it’s up to me to prove him right.
