Chapter 465: Let Annie Make the Decision
Everyone was indeed almost rolling on the floor, only Alan probably already knew it and could still manage his image, but the corners of his mouth curled up.
Nate clutched his stomach and couldn't straighten his waist, “Sis-in-law, this performance isn't the same. You're too brilliant.”
If Kent was allowed to sing the second song, it seemed that not only the birds would fly, even they would run away.
The game continued. Those who won would chose to perform without exception. Of course, the finalists had to stay behind.
Nate danced very well in street dance. James learned all kinds of bird calls. Damon's nunchaku was very exciting. And the dull Ezra performed a hand shadow looked lifelike.
Luke performed a comic dialogue, but it didn't make anyone laugh and several pieces of watermelon rinds were even thrown at him.
Annie was even better in creating atmosphere. She used the watermelon she spooned to directly put it on Luke's head as a hat. From then on, Luke's name was directly changed into Watermelon. This was the “mark’ that would stay with him throughout his life.
Then the several men soon discovered that something was wrong with the game.
“We all had a round already, so why are you two still safe?”
Olive chuckled, “I'm also surprised. Maybe we're just so lucky tonight? But almost all the performances were done by you guys. If I'm chosen next, I really don't know what to do.”
Everyone laughed, “Then take a truth or dare or drink.”
When Olive heard her phone ring, the game was almost over.
She actually had drunk a lot, but she wasn't drunk. The five men were successfully knocked out and fell asleep on the table.
Damon snored a bit and Annie playfully pinched his nose. The man who couldn't breathe opened his mouth and blew that the sound was louder than snoring. Annie recorded him with Alan's phone. Kent gave Alan a deep look, “Your woman is actually a good drinker like you.”
Alan simply smiled, “You just know?"
Kent gave her three words, “You're incredible.”
“Thank you,” Olive accepted his praise calmly before answering the phone.
On the phone, Ada didn't beat around the bush too and went straight to the subject, “Sis-in-law, my mother wants to see Annie. Can I get Annie to play at the Hoyle's residence for a day tomorrow?” “Tomorrow?”
“I can't?”
“It's not that, but...”
Ada thought she was worried, “Are you afraid what my mother will do to Annie? Don’t worry, I'll be with them and Annie will be fine. Moreover, I found that my mother has a good impression of Annie. I think they can get close first, then you can slowly involve with my mother's life. I believe my mother will accept you soon.”
Olive chuckled and said, “I don't mean that. But tomorrow your brother and I have agreed to take Annie to Disney. How about another day?”
“Is that so?" Ada was a little disappointed. She even vowed in front of the old lady just saying that she could bring Annie over tomorrow.
Her phone was suddenly taken away. Olive looked back and saw Alan speaking into the microphone, “If she wants to see her granddaughter, she can personally tell me. Why are you becoming the middle man?”
Ada was taken aback when she suddenly heard her elder brother's voice, but she quickly reacted, "Alan, mother likes Annie now. So why not let both grandmother and granddaughter to take this chance to get along first? Maybe through Annie, mother will soon accept sis-in-law.”
Alan directly hung up the phone.
“Hey, you...” Olive really wanted to convince her man. Did he want his mother to accept her or deepen the conflict between her and his mother?
He put away her phone, “Don’t mind her.”
"Can't you speak properly?” If Mrs. Hoyle was listening at their phone call, how upset and sad she would be.
“We're going to Disney tomorrow. You can't break our baby’s trust, right?” He had a plan about the old lady.
The big issue between the Hoyle Group and the Meyer had been resolved, yet the old lady still refused to accept his wife sincerely. Now that she wanted to see his child, she couldn't make a fuss for his child to recognize their ancestors, yet kicking out his child's mother.
Olive could vaguely guess what was in his mind, but she still thought that she needed to take a step down, then taking more several steps. This wasn't about unyielding character. She just sympathized with the old lady's loneliness.
After the death of her husband, all her three children worked outside. How lonely she would be in such a big house? In the past, Ophelia was able to accompany her to relieve her boredom, so that was why the old lady liked Ophelia so much. It wasn’t without a reason.
“I think we can let Annie to make the decision about this matter.”
Annie probably heard what her aunt said on the phone. She thought about it for a while and said, “Dad, let auntie pick me up to see grandmother tomorrow.”
“Don’t you want to go to Disney?” The little girl had been longing to go there for a long time. Half of the reason why he brought her to Jiangcheng this time was for this.
Annie rolled her eyes, “I want to, but I'll go with different way.”
"Huh?" Alan realized that he could easily guess his big baby’s thought, but sometimes he couldn't keep up with his little baby's.
“I want grandmother to take me.”
Kent laughed at the side and said, “This kid is bright. I can guarantee that your mother isn't her opponent. If you don't believe me, you can let her try.”
When Ada woke up early the next morning, she didn’t know how to tell the old lady. Her brother even disagreed to let the child come to the Hoyle's residence.
Seriously though, the old lady resolutely said several times at that time that even if she was dead, she wouldn't allow Olive to enter the front door of the Hoyle's residence and admitted that the child was the Hoyle's granddaughter. But now she missed the child. It was simply inexcusable.
At breakfast, the old lady asked her, “Does the child have a favorite food? Or a toy that she particularly wants.”
Ada smiled with her, “Mom, you're trying to bribe into her heart.”
It was still unsure whether Annie could come or not. Should she chase them to Disneyland and quietly abducted her away?
Aoba frowned when he heard her, “Mom, are you going to meet Annie?”
"Your sister said that she'll take her to the Hoyle's residence today. I thought that she’s your brother's child anyway, so I want to meet her,” the old lady pretended to say it casually.
Yet Aoba was secretly happy.
Only Ada was worried. If she said that the child couldnt come today, she wasn't sure what the old lady would think of Olive. She had such a big mouth. If she knew this earlier, she wouldn't say that last night.
Just when she didn't know what to do, the life-saving call came in.
"Auntie, come pick me up at Hoyle Group at nine thirty.”
Before her head could grasp it, the phone had been hung up.
When her head had worked, she hurriedly pushed the sandwich into her mouth and couldn't wait to get up, fearing that someone would regret it.
Mrs. Hoyle was startled after she watched her daughter answer a phone call. She couldn't help but frowned, “What's wrong? You look like you're being chased by a ghost.”
Ada wiped off the gloom in her face and said in a bright manner, “I'm going to pick up your granddaughter!”
Because of Annie's decision, Alan adjusted his itinerary slight and took his wife and daughter to Hoyle Group early in the morning.
Curious eyes fell onto the front door from time to time, wanting to see the demeanor of this righteous lady. Exactly what kind of charm it was that made their president bewitched? “Fascination’ was the most appropriate term to use. But no one thought that after Hoyle Group went round and round, it would still return to the original owner's hands. Moreover, after an accident in the plan, the Hoyle originally only held a little more than half of the shares, but now it was Alan Hoyle that controlled the absolute power of life and death.
This was a beautiful turnaround, and some people were happy and some were worried.
A thick pile of information was piled up on the desk. These were the abnormal behaviors of some high-level and middle-level people over the months since he left Hoyle Group.
He didn't want to embarrass too many people, but those who betrayed the company must not stay. They were like moths, which could endanger the safe of the company at all times. And among them, it also included the people whom the old lady picked.
Early in the morning, he asked his secretary to inform these people to wait in the conference room. At this moment, the whole conference room was filled with panic. Everyone was wondering if it was a post-autumn settling meeting and what punishment they would get.
Alan deliberately asked them to wait. For some people, waiting was a kind of lingering death, breaking their psychological defense.
Ada came on time. She actually feared a little bit of her brother. Sometimes her elder brother spoke without mercy. He was like that towards their mother, let alone his younger sister.
Fortunately, Olive was also there. She picked up Annie smoothly. Although her brother's expression looked to have such tiny hint of willingness, under Olive’s glare, he put away his expression.
Ada patted her chest and said, “Don’t worry. I'll be with them. I'll ensure that the little princess won't be wronged.”
Olive was a little worried. She was afraid that her daughter's wicked idea would cause Mrs. Hoyle a headache, “Listen to auntie and grandmother. Don’t be naughty.”
"Got it!” The little girl waved her hand, then put her little hand into Ada’s palm and bounced away. In the car, Ada tried to make Annie understand something, which was she needed to please her grandmother. When she arrived at her grandmother's house later, she needed to say something nice to her grandmother and to make her grandmother happy. When her grandmother was happy, maybe she could slowly accept Mommy Olive.
But Annie was obviously an opinionated child, “Auntie, it'll be so fake. A little kid like me knows flattery is wrong. But don't worry, grandmother will like me.”
The little kid was very confident as her big eyes blinking brightly.
When the car was halfway through, Annie suddenly called to stop the car. She opened the door and jumped down, "Auntie, wait for me.”
“Where are you going?”
“You'll know in a minute.” Annie ran fast with her little legs. About ten meters behind the car, she saw a flower shop.
Ada asked the driver to pull back to the flower shop and saw the little girl come out with a small bouquet of gillyflowers. The florist even sent her out with a smile on her face, even calling her that she was the most sensible child.
Annie got in the car and held the flowers to Ada, “Auntie, are they beautiful?”
“Why do you think of buying flowers?"
