The Indifferent Luna 1 - Austan wolf

Chapter CHAPTER 45

My heart clenched tightly and it began to hurt, tears spilled from my eyes.

I had been frolicking with the son of the enemy. I had almost become his Luna if it wasn’t for Layla’s persistence. He must have known.

Did he know? Was that why he deceived me onto death or is he just wicked like his father killing innocent people.

I mean what did my parents ever do to them? Did he kill my mother too?

“Did she die too?” I asked looking at her after gathering courage as tears spilled. She also wept but she shook her head.

“She is very much alive. She is ruling the pack alone as the Luna of the Austan pack as we speak.” Adela said and a tear of relief fell from my eyes.

“Does she know where I am? That I am here with you?”

Adela smiled and shook her head again, “She thinks you are living an amazing life, far away from all the troubles of the pack.” Adela said and I wept.

It was painful, she had lost everything. She had lost her mate and lost me too. She even thought I was living happily, that must be why she never searched for me.

“What are they like? My parents.” I asked as I looked up at Adela again.

“They are good people, the best I have met in years.” Adela said smiling with a distant look on her face.

It was obvious she cherished the times she spent in that pack with them, then why?

“Why did you leave? Why did you become a rogue?” I asked.

“Because it is the best thing I could do to protect the pack.” She said.

I didn’t understand but I knew I had to let it be.

“I want to meet her, can I meet her?” I asked scared she would say no.

I didn’t even know where the Austan pack was, I didn’t know where home was.

“No. Not yet. You have to be ready.” Adela said before wiping away the tears that smeared her cheek then held my hands,

“Your mother is the Luna of the most powerful pack. One day, you would be required to take over from her. We met by coincidence Silveen, but ever since I knew you were the future Luna of the Austan pack, I have decided to protect you with my life and train you, prepare you to take on that role.” she declared and I stared at her.

I didn’t know what to say, my mind was spiraling in different directions, and various thoughts were running through my head.

“You knew before you came to find me.” I observed and she smiled and then wiped my tears with her thumbs.

“Kira and Rona happened to visit when me a month after they fled winter hollows. They told me about you, it was the least I could do, my part to play.” she said and I stared at my hands lost in thought.

“You knew,” I said to Rieka, she had suddenly spoken of responsibility today. This must have been why

“Just a few days ago. They happened to slip about your identity.” Rieka replied with a sigh.

“What happens now? What about our revenge? Who is the enemy Rieka? Eric? Layla? The moon goddess made Eric my mate, he is a bastard but now that I think of it, I would rather be dead than marry the son of the wolf who killed my father. Maybe Layla was doing me a favor.” I said in confusion.

“It doesn’t matter who did what. They are both guilty of trying to kill us. We would still take our revenge on them not just for what they did to us but for endangering the lives of our pack members, killing our father, and separating us from our family all those years. Eric, his parent, and his pack would pay but now, we have something better to worry about. We have to be ready and strong enough to protect our mother.” Rieka explained with determination and I nodded,

“She’s the only family I have left after all.” I finished as another set of tears spilled down my eyes.

“Shush. Don’t cry.” Adela who had been silent suddenly said wiping away my tears. She must have been waiting for me to come to terms with the whole news but hearing her console me made me tear up like a baby.

She hugged me and I cried nonstop on her shoulders.

I was so pitiful, I had lost the chance of growing up with my parents, become the mate of the enemy, almost died without knowing who my parents were, and now......

I could only meet her when I was strong enough to protect her and the pack.

I took my time crying my heart out. I needed this, I really needed to vent out my frustration and pain. Rieka didn’t stop me, and neither did Adela. so I cried to my heart’s content.

Soon all I did was sob, it still hurts but I knew I had to be strong. Even Rieka wasn’t whimpering in sadness so I had to be strong.

I pulled away and wiped my tears myself this time.

“Teach me how to become the Luna of the Austan pack.” I said to Adela, my teary eyes brimming with determination.
