The Heiress’ Hidden Alliance

Chapter 110

Chapter 110 Have You Forgotten Your Promise

“Auri was merely being polite–you still need to put in more effort!” Mabel helped Aurelia out of her predicament.

Matthew came over and sat down right next to Aurelia

His gaze casually swept over the television, which was showing a variety.

show.

Men and women were having a meal together as they flirted.

In his opinion, none of the supporting actors or male guests, not even the male leads, could hold a candle to him.

Of course, those women couldn’t compare to Aurelia either.

Seeing Matthew naturally sit beside Aurelia, Mabel gave him a knowing wink. When had he become so close with Aurelia?

She knew he had previously put on an act for her.

But now, it was clear that this was not a performance anymore.

This young man liked being near Aurelia.

A young man at his age should be interested in women now, right? Mabel pondered about her grandson.

Originally, Aurelia and Mabel could casually watch the variety show together, engaging in all sorts of discussions.

Now that Matthew was sitting next to her, she felt a bit restrained.

Glancing at the time, Mabel hurried the two of them along. “It’s already dark outside–you two should head home. You have to get up early for a check–up tomorrow, so don’t stay up too late tonight.”

“Okay.” The two of them nodded in agreement.

Watching the two depart. Mabel sighed to Evelyn. “Do you think they’ll give me a great–grandchild next year?”

“I think so. It’s clear that Mr. Quigley has feelings for Mrs. Quigley,” said Evelyn.

They were older, having met many people in their lifetime. Moreover, Evelyn had watched Matthew grow up. If he didn’t care about someone, he wouldn’t utter a single unnecessary word.

However, earlier, as soon as Matthew arrived, his gaze was immediately drawn to Aurelia.

He even teased her. If he weren’t interested after doing that, Evelyn wouldn’t believe it.

However, it all came down to how Matthew perceived his feelings.

Mabel chuckled and nodded. “I agree. By the way, keep an eye on the Sanders family. If they dare to harbor any other intentions or attempt to ruin the relationship between Matthew and Auri, let me know.”

“All right, Old Mrs. Quigley, rest assured. I believe Mr. Quigley has already handled this matter. I’ve met the young lady from the Sanders family before. She seemed quite clever, even working as a TV host. One would think she’d be quick to react. I didn’t expect her to do something like this though.” Evelyn reflected with a hint of regret.

Previously, there had been rumors, but she hadn’t paid them any mind, nor had she mentioned it to Mabel.

In Jacaster, countless individuals aspired to associate themselves with the Quigley family. Such occurrences were far from unusual.

However, bringing trouble to Mabel was unheard of until now.

Mabel huffed, “If anyone dares to ruin the relationship between Matthew and Auri, they’ll have me to answer to!”

On the way back, Aurelia and Matthew were in the same car.

Matthew drove his car, whereas her car was driven back by the driver.

After a busy day, Aurelia was somewhat exhausted. She had barely exchanged a few words with Matthew in the car when she drifted off to sleep.

Matthew seemed to say something else, but she was too sleepy to hear clearly.

Matthew had just suggested that she should consider their marriage. He proposed that if they both found. each other tolerable enough to spend the rest of their lives together, they should just carry on as they

were

But after he spoke, he didn’t get a response from Aurelia. Somewhat puzzled, he looked toward Aurelia.

Upon looking, he realized that she had surprisingly fallen asleep.

Seeing her unguarded in her slumber, Matthew gazed at the traffic lights ahead and was suddenly overcome with a certain feeling.

This isn’t too bad either.

Passionate love wasn’t necessary.

Despite experiencing the most beautiful campus romance, didn’t Aurelia end up in a complete mess in the

end?

Without love, perhaps a marriage could indeed last a lifetime.

When they arrived at Starry Sea Mansion, Aurelia was still asleep.

Matthew didn’t wake her

  1. up.

He studied her with a cool detachment.

Her rosy lips looked tempting under the moonlight.

His heart tightened slightly, and he pressed his lips together.

Aurelia didn’t find much comfort in her sleep, so she adjusted her sleeping position.

Then, she groggily opened her eyes, only to find Matthew’s handsome face up close.

She blinked, her long eyelashes fluttering gently. “Did I fall asleep?”

Matthew found her sleepy look cute and answered with an unexpected gentleness, “Yes.”

“I vaguely heard you say something, but I didn’t quite catch what you said as I was spacing out. Sorry about

that.”

Aurelia was somewhat frustrated–probably because she had been busy restoring Joseph’s painting over

past few days and hadn’t had much rest. As a result, she got sleepy in the evening.

the

Moreover, being in a car but not behind the wheel made it even easier to drift off to sleep, so much so that she didn’t catch what Matthew had said.

His tone suggested he was saying something of importance.

As Matthew watched her earnestly apologize, the words he had originally intended to express, those that he wished her to consider, suddenly found themselves stuck in his throat.

Perhaps something like that was too practical.

She was much younger than him and might not accept it easily.

Hence, he decided to wait for the right moment.

“It’s nothing much. That fake heiress from the Leedon family came to see me yesterday.” Matthew helped Aurelia unbuckle her seatbelt.

Aurelia noticed Matthew’s thoughtful gesture and was momentarily stunned but quickly focused on the topic of the fake heiress of the Leedon family.

She furrowed her brows.

There was a lingering worry that Matthew might end up like the Legdon family members, believing Melanie’s words and developing a sense of sympathy for her.

After all, Melanie was very skilled at acting innocent.

“People from the Leedon family probably lack common sense, to believe in such despicable tactics of sowing discord,” Matthew added.

Aurelia was somewhat taken aback. “You don’t think she’s weak and in need of protection?”

Matthew furrowed his brows. “I don’t think so.”

She was just a manipulative woman. He could see through her tricks even as a child, let alone now.

Aurelia gave Matthew a thumbs–up. “You’re amazing!”

Matthew gazed at her, her smile as radiant as a blooming flower. His gaze then fell on her slender, pale fingers. For a moment, his thoughts wandered.

Whether he was amazing or not could be shown in bed,

This kind of common sense didn’t require any praise.

As Matthew’s thoughts were running wild, Aurelia had already gotten out of the car.

Matthew also got out.

Over time, the two had grown accustomed to being alone together.

Upon returning to Starry Sea Mansion, they immediately retreated to their respective rooms to bathe and prepare for bed.

Aurelia was about to fall asleep when she remembered she still had to handle orders from her Amazon store. Despite her drowsiness, she began to process the orders.

Just as she was about to finish processing the orders, a WhatsApp notification from Matthew unexpectedly popped up on her phone: Have you forgotten what you promised me?

Huh?

What had she promised him?

They hadn’t talked much on the way back. Did she agree to something in her sleepy state?

Suddenly, she realized what he might be referring to.
