The Heart Sees

I woke up in shock when I felt my hands on a hard, warm chest. I quickly scrambled away, had Chase got to me? What happened? I started hyperventilating. 'I smell Troy' Lilac whined. 'We can't be with alpha Chase' she reasoned.

"Lu?" I heard the groggy voice of alpha Troy.

I relaxed, breathing in his calming scent. "What happened?" I asked, not remembering anything after I had been attacked.

"I brought you back to the pack house, you fell asleep in the car" he stated factually.

"My medicine! I need to take it!" I panicked, trying to race out of the bed only to realize I wasn't in my usual room. I froze when I felt Troy's gentle hand on my arm.

"I brought the bottle in here, I knew you would probably want one when you woke up" Troy said as he handed me the bottle of pills.

"Thank you...." I sighed, swallowing it.

"Do you want to talk about it?" Troy asked gently.

"Why am I in your room?" I changed the subject and thankfully Troy didn't question it.

"When I tried to set you down you grabbed me so I figured I would bring you here because the bed is bigger" he said nervously. "I'm sorry... I should have brought you to your regular room" he said.

"No... it's okay alpha. I just feel like I shouldn't be here" I sighed.

"I couldn't just leave you alone after what happened. I apologize if sharing a bed with me caused you any distress" he said sincerely.

"You mean we slepy together?" I blushed.

"In the same bed yes, like I said you wouldn't let me go and I couldn't leave you unprotected" he said calmly.

"Why do you care so much?" I looked at him curiously.

"As alpha I care for all of my pack members" he stated.

"So you have brought others to your room before?" I questioned.

"No... only one other" he said sadly.

"Is that.... your faded mate mark, do you mean her?" I asked gently.

"Yes... other than that and my sister no female has ever been in my room... until you" he said, gazing in my direction. I know he couldn't see me but I felt as if he could.

"Oh.." I said, unsure of what to say to that.

"Can I ask you something personal?" He suddenly asked. I nodded at him and he must have heard my movements because he asked, "are you and Liam.... involved?"

"What do you mean?" I asked, confused.

"Are you and Liam... mates?" He clarified nervously.

"No alpha" I replied quickly, "I do not want Liam as a mate" I stated clearly and Troy relaxed.

I walked over to the bed and sat on the edge of it, my throat still feeling a bit sore from yesterday. "Thank you for your honesty" he said quietly and I nodded at him again. "I had all of your things from yesterday brought to your room" he added.

"Thank you alpha... for everything" I smiled softly at him and he nodded his head at me.

"Will you be okay here by yourself while I go check patrols?" He asked me as he stood from the bed.

"Is there anyone who can stay? I don't want to be alone" I admitted sadly, feeling weak for asking.

"Do you want Terry to stay? I would ask Liam but he has patrol today and I want his help on strengthening the boundaries" Troy explained.

"Yes please" I said and the alpha stood still and quiet for a moment, most likely mind linking Terry.

"He'll be here in a few minutes" the alpha said as he walked towards the door.

"Wait!" I shouted, grabbing his arm gently. Hhe turned and looked in my direction expectantly. "When will you be back?" I asked, letting go of his arm. I really shouldn't be grabbing the alpha like that.

"Probably not until after dinner" he answered.

"Please be careful" I whispered.

"I will be back, don't worry" he said with a soft smile before he left the room. Luckily I didn't have to wait long until beta showed up.

"Hey Lu" Terry said with a soft smile. "How are you holding up?" He asked as I flopped onto the bed, hugging one of the pillows to my chest and breathing in the calming scent of the alpha.

"As good as can be expected..." I mumbled.

"Do you want to talk about it?" Terry asked as he came and sat beside me.

"No.... but I would like to know if you forgave Liam" I changed the subject.

Terry chuckled, "yes I did I know he didn't mean to cover me in dough".

"That's good" I replied with a smirk.

"Are you and Liam together?" Terry suddenly asked.

"No, we don't like each other like that, we're just friends" I stated firmly.

"Oh.... so then why did you turn away all of those unmated males who wanted to meet you?" Terry asked and I groaned.

"There's someone I like already" I blurted out and Lilac cheered at me for admitting it out loud.

"Oh?" Terry asked, raising an eyebrow at me.

"Yes, but he is such a high ranking wolf that deserves a strong mate... not a weak omega" I sighed sadly.

"I'm flattered but I like men" Terry chuckled teasingly.

"Not you silly" I smirked back.

"Then who? The Gamma?" He prodded. I shook my head no. "Delta?" He continued and I shook my head again. "Alpha?" He asked and I froze. I opened and closed my mouth a few times but my reaction told him what he needed to know. "You like the alpha!" He teased and I turned bright red in embarassment.

"Yes...." I admitted, rolling my eyes at him.

"Have you told him you want to be mates?" Terry asked, a huge smile on his face as if he knew something I didn't.

"No.... I don't want to be rejected again" I sniffled.

"He won't reject you" Terry said firmly and I looked at him questioningly. "I am gonna tell you a secret that you can't tell anyone" he stared at me and I nodded. "I need you to promise" he said firmly.

"I promise?" I asked curiously as I sat up on the bed.

"The alpha wants to be your mate" Terry said and I gasped.

"Why would he want someone like me?" I was in shock.

"He is drawn to you, his wolf loves you, he adores everything you do. In fact I have never seen him so happy" Terry sighed.

"But he's an alpha and I'm just...." I muttered. "Why hasn't he said anything to me about it?" I asked, if he really liked me wouldn't he ask me to be mates?

"He wants you to choose him of your own free will. He doesn't want to pressure you and he feels that his blindness would burden you" Terry explained.

"What? But I don't mind that he is blind. I still feel like he can see me" I said and Terry chuckled.

"I tried to tell him that but he's really insecure about it" Terry shrugged.

"So if I asked him....?" I said questioningly.

"He would say yes, you have my promise on that" Terry said confidently.

'I told you he likes us!' Lilac purred

"I want to.... I really want to. But I'm still nervous.... if I get rejected I don't know if I'll survive it" I said honestly.

"It's okay to be nervous but once you ask him everything will fall into place" Terry placed his hand on mine to comfort me.

"But as an alpha he needs an heir and I'm not ready for pups anytime soon" I said nervously.

"You don't have to worry about that until later. I'm sure Troy will want to wait" Terry laughed.

"Okay I'll ask when he is back from patrol bt if he rejects me and I die it's on your conscience" I warned him. "And I have a condition" I started.

"Oh?" Terry asked, seeming confused.

"You have to take Liam on a date" I smirked, Liam is so going to thank me for this.

Terry's eyes widened, "you mean..... he's into men?" He seemed surprised.

"Yes" I stated and I could ser Terry's face light up. He stuck his hand out and I shook it while chuckling, "you have a deal" he smiled at me.

'I can't wait to have a mate!' Lilac purred happily.
