Chapter The Heart 23
Chapter 16 Chapter

Only those who Franklin valued would receive such treatment from him. But she didn't believe Franklin valued Logan because of her. Franklin helping Logan couldn't possibly be because of her either.
After all, since Logan's divorce from her mother, she had rarely seen him. Logan now only publicly acknowledged Julia as his daughter.
The father-daughter bond between her and Logan had long since dissolved. Sure enough, Logan continued,
"With Julie here by herself, her mother and I are quite worried. We'd appreciate it if you
could look after her more in the future."
Maggie almost laughed hearing this. Julia and Franklin had only met after her marriage to Franklin.
Julia knew about her relationship with Franklin - how could Logan not know that Franklin was his other daughter's husband! He definitely knew.
Yet he still shamelessly tried to play matchmaker between Julia and Franklin. This showed just how completely Logan had dismissed her as his daughter!
Franklin agreed. After exchanging a few more pleasantries, Maggie watched as Franklin waited for Logan to get in his car and drive away before leaving himself.
Given Franklin's current status, such courtesy was usually reserved for only a few elders in his family. Yet Franklin clearly showed respect to Logan. All because he was Julia's father.
This reminded her of the few times Franklin had met her grandmother and uncle's family - he had always been cold and dismissive. Moreover, in the past, even when she cautiously brought it up, he had never been willing to help her uncle...
But his attitude toward people important to Julia was completely different. His treatment of her versus Julia was like heaven and earth. This must be the difference between love and indifference.

After a while, Franklin left too. Only much later did Maggie turn to enter Harris Garden.
That afternoon, after work, Maggie went home to collect the gifts she had prepared for Franklin's Wilson family elders before driving to the Wilson family estate.
The Wilson family estate was near the outskirts of the capital, with beautiful mountains and clear waters, a peaceful environment perfect for the elderly.
The only drawback was its distance from the city center. It took Maggie an hour and a half
to reach the estate.
She parked the car and, carrying the gifts, hadn't even entered the house when she heard her daughter Isabella's cheerful laughter.
Grandmother Wilson, facing the door, noticed her first and immediately smiled, "Mag is here? Quick, come sit by grandmother." But only Grandmother Wilson was smiling. When her mother-in-law and the mother-son pair of Maria saw her, their smiles faded.
Maggie noticed this but no longer cared as much as she used to.
Pretending not to notice, she smiled, handed the gifts to the approaching butler, and walked towards the elderly lady, "Grandmother."
"Ah." The elderly lady beamed, pulling Maggie to sit down, then frowned, "Why have you
lost so much weight? Has Frank been bullying you?"
Maggie lowered her eyes and shook her head, "No, I've just been busy lately." This was
half-truth, half-lie. Franklin hadn't bullied her, but her mood was often affected because of
him.
Besides, for the past two weeks, after work each day, she had been focusing on artificial
intelligence research, often studying until past midnight. This was also partly why she had lost weight.
Before the elderly lady could speak, Maria let out a derisive laugh, "The way you talk, people might think your work is incredibly important, as if the entire Wilson Group couldn't function without you." 15:07

Maria's mother, Stella, sat nearby, the picture of an elegant society lady. She took a sip of tea and said coldly, "If you find working at Wilson Group so tiring, you might as well quit.
After all, no one begged you to work there." Maria laughed, "Exactly! Though someone might be reluctant to

The elderly lady, who couldn't stand others speaking ill of Maggie, was about to speak, but Maggie beat her to it, "I've already submitted my resignation.
Once the handover is complete, I'll leave Wilson Group." This statement stunned both Stella
and Maria.
