Chapter 49
Ella emptied her locker.
It was summer vacation, and she was excited to finally be free from the unappealing hallways. As she finally grabbed her lock and placed it in the box, on top of her belongings, she was surprised when she heard footsteps approach in her direction.
When she raised her eyes, there was a random guy that she had seen around but never spoken to. He was mostly with Bradley and Jonah's friends, and she furrowed her brows, "Yes?"
"I need you to follow me."
Ella was a bit frightened, but her curiosity was much stronger, and she followed him. He made her enter a classroom, and then before she realized what he was doing, he raced outside and closed the door. She turned to the door, noticing that he was still in front of it, and she suddenly grew a bit nervous.
"Wait, what's going on "
"Ella."
She knew that voice.
The shuffling of footsteps occurred behind her, and she immediately raced to the doorknob, attempting to push against it open. The guy was on the other side, locking them in, and she grumbled a curse. "Ella "
"Don't you dare talk to me," she hissed, her eyes growing teary, and she did not want to stare at him. Sobbing was a sign of weakness, and she was months over him.
Or she thought.
"Let's talk," Bradley breathed softly, standing a few feet behind her.
Ella did not turn around, her grip still around the doorknob. However, she squeezed her eyes shut, screaming at herself not to cry. She had cried for weeks into her pillow when Bradley had broken up with her but had slowly become stronger. She was embarrassed to realize that she had never really moved on from him.
He sighed, "Just hear me out, Ella."
"You broke me," she sighed in a shaky breath, placing her palm above her eyes and wiping the tears as they rapidly began to run along her cheeks, "and I'm over it. I don't want to speak with you."
"You were going through a tough time, and I wasn't there for you. I didn't put you first. I put myself first, and that was the most selfish thing I could have ever done."
"You left me at the hardest time in my life," she could barely speak through the lump in her throat as she sniffled, coughing to breathe in tears.
Bradley's heart was shattering with her every breath. He knew he had regretted his decision the moment he had made it since Ella's presence was irreplaceable.
"Ella, from the bottom of my heart, I'm sorry. I miss you so much, so damn much that it hurts. I made the worst mistake I could have ever done, and that was so cruel of me. You had my back so many times, and it was wrong of me not to have yours."
She shook her head, "That's not enough."
He lowered his eyes, "Ella-"

"I said that's not enough," she hissed, finally turning around and revealing all the tears, the red on her cheeks, the hurt, and the distorted features. "I don't know what I want, but what you're telling me isn't enough."
He sighed, turning away for a moment before breathing, "I miss you, Ella."
"Stop="
"Babe," he stepped forward, approaching her as he saw her trembling lips. She was aching to take him back, but he had hurt her too much, "remember when we went to the lake? We were so high that we thought the cops were hiding in the sand."
It did cause Ella to chuckle, although she continued to wipe her tears.
"Do you remember what I told you that day?"
She frowned, shaking her head.
"I told you I was going to marry you one day. That you would walk down the aisle to me, and I was going to spend the rest of my life with you. That was my dream goal, remember?"
Eventually, she nodded her head.
A small smile tugged his lips, "I wasn't lying about that. I need you in my life, and I don't care if you say no today or no tomorrow. I will do everything in my power to get you back. Because I love you." "You don't love me "

"Yes," his tone became stern, "I love you with every ounce of blood in my body. I can't dream of a life without you, and I am going to get you back."
"I've moved on, Bradley," she said, "maybe you should do the same."
He shook his head, "I'm not going to do the same because I love you."
"Stop saying that," her tone became menacing.
"I love you so much."
"You better stop or else—"
"Or else what?" He raised an eyebrow, "Hit me as much as you want, Ella. Beat me up if you'd like, but I'm not going anywhere."
She shook her head, pausing for a moment and calming her emotions down. Once her teary eyes stopped leaking, she said, "I need some time."
"I know."
During the silence that occurred, he hesitated but reached forward, slowly wrapping his arms over her shoulders, to which she did not resist. She had dreamed about this moment, woken up to an empty bed, and cried even more. Bradley's thick muscular arm protecting her with such warmth. Instinctively, she leaned her forehead against his chest, inhaling a long breath of his cologne, the one her body had become familiar to, and eased at its scent. He pecked her on the top of her head, "Whatever you need, I'm here for you, alright? I love you."
