Chapter 30
"Why did you do that?"
"He came and asked me," she snarled back, her palms wrapped above Jacob's ears since she did not want him them fighting.
Jonah shook his head, sending a trembling palm through his hair; Kylan had left in a hurry without saying another word. He did not even help with equipment. He rushed to his vehicle and departed from the school. Jonah had resisted the urge to call after him since his son was present, and Jacob was his main priority.
"You lied to him."
"I told him the truth"
"You are not the love of my life Leah," he spat, narrowing his eyes, "you're nothing but my baby's mother, and that is all there is to it."
Leah paused for a moment before stepping forward and gently placing a palm on Jonah's waist, to which he did not detach from him. He sighed, observed her step forward with their child between them.
She sighed, "I'm tired of waiting, Jonah. Please, come home to us."
"I can't do that "
"You will never be able to marry him. Your family would disown you. You will never have children, and your lives will be judged by everyone that glances at you. It's not the best for you, Jonah. We are waiting for you. Jacob needs his father." Jonah sighed, remaining in the silence for about a minute, before leaning down and picking Jacob into his arms, smiling at his innocent face. Jacob beamed, wrapping an arm around Jonah's neck in excitement. "We'll talk about this later," he said to Leah, "thank you for coming to my game. Let's go get something to eat, wouldn't that sound fun, Jacob?"
"Yes!" he grinned, turning to his mother, who nodded her head, reflecting the same excitement. Then, as a family, they marched towards the cars.
After dinner, Leah placed Jacob in her car and then said, "Wait two minutes, I'm right here." She closed the door and turned to Jonah, who widened his arms into an embrace, tightly holding her before separating himself. "Thank you, Leah."
"Jonah," she stepped forward, "I'm not doing this to hurt you. This is what is best for you."
He nodded his head, "I know."
She reflected his nod, then made her way around to the driver's seat, closing the door and driving off from the restaurant's parking lot. Jonah hurried to his own vehicle and pressed on the accelerator, needing to go to Kylan's home as soon as possible. He knew Kylan would have a hard time digesting that news, but one thing was certain, he did not want to lose him. Not even over Leah, since although he still had love for her, it is not the same love he felt when being around Kylan. The mere sight of Kylan made him smile, seeing his huge glasses on his nose and his physique, even the attire he wore oftentimes caused him to want to wrap his arms around Kylan and drown him in a million kisses. He had messed up in the past, and he knew he had, but it was his young years when he had sex with any woman that spread her legs.
She had been one of them, hence why they started dating since she fell pregnant, but once the baby arrived, he realized he was not ready. However, he had grown to love Leah during the relationship, and leaving her was hard. He sent her the money monthly and helped her financially whenever she needed it. He also grabs his kid for trips and weekends, but it was harder for him since he was still in high school, and she had graduated from hers years ago.
He nodded his head in reassurance as he parked his car in Kylan's driveway; his car was there as well. He began knocking on the door and was not surprised when there was no response. He continued knocking, pounding on the door at that point, and Kylan eventually opened the door, not meeting Jonah's gaze. Jonah noticed his face was red, his eyes were swollen, and he sniffled, continuously rubbing his nose and stopping it from running. He played with the end of his sleeve and repeatedly wiped under his eyes, stopping the tears from continuing further.
He cleared his throat, "What are you doing here?"
"Kylan, we need to talk." It was causing his heart to clench, seeing Kylan in such emotional pain, and all he wanted was to embrace him warmly and comfort him that all would be alright. However, he was the one that caused the pain. Kylan immediately said, "Is it true?"
Jonah did not respond at first and diverted the topic, "It's not what you think—"
"Don't bullshit me, Jonah. Is it true?" he hissed, raising his eyes and meeting Jonah's gaze, which caused shame to run through Jonah's veins. It was difficult to stare at Kylan in such agony, but he clenched his fist; he deserved the truth. Eventually, he nodded his head, "Yes, it's true."
Kylan inhaled sharply, his eyes widening as a blank stare overcame his face. He was in shock, and tears swelled his eyes, rushing rapidly along his cheeks. He had hoped she had lied, had made up a story for Kylan to break up with him, but hearing this confirmation was enough to cause Kylan's heart to break into tiny pieces.
Soon enough, he turned away in quiet sobs and breathed, "Go home, Jonah."
"Let's talk about this," he pleaded.
"There's nothing to talk about."
Jonah shook his head, "Kylan, it's not what you think."
"Then what am I supposed to think?" he snapped, raising his eyebrows. "That you love me? That you actually care about me?"
"That hasn't changed," Jonah said.
Kylan chuckled incredulously, "That has changed. You have another life, Jonah. And you couldn't even tell me "
"Look how you're reacting. Of course, I wouldn't tell you."
"Don't make me the bad guy because I'm not," he spat, clenching his teeth and glaring at him, "She's the love of your life, isn't she?"
Jonah rolled his eyes, growing angry himself, "No, she isn't, Kylan."

"Then tell me you don't love her anymore." When Jonah hesitated, Kylan's eyes grew wider, "Don't tell me you're still in love with her-"
"She's the mother of my kid, Kylan. What did you expect?!"
"I expected you to be honest with me!" Kylan shouted, tightening his fist at his sides, "I trusted you and believed in you, and all of it backfired like it always does."
"Yes, go on," Jonah screamed, "compare me to all those other dudes that fucked you once and then left you."
"From all of them, you were the worse, you know why?" He stepped forward, "Because you actually made me believe that you loved me."
"You're being dramatic."
"I'm being dramatic?" Kylan repeated in disbelief.
Jonah nodded his head, "Yes, it's not that big of a deal."
"Not that big of a..." As Kylan realized what Jonah had said, he attempted to slam the door shut, but Jonah shoved his foot in the way.
"Don't you slam the door in my face," Jonah growled.
Kylan fought back, "Leave my home."
"No," he said, pushing with all his force and causing Kylan to stumble backward.
He caught him before he could fall, and Kylan was breathing heavily, feeling Jonah's arm wrapped around his waist. However, he slammed his palm into his chest and pushed his away, putting distance between one another. Jonah was breathing heavily as well and pointed a finger in Kylan's direction, "You are being a bitch, Kylan."
"Every time I stick up for myself, you call me a bitch," Kylan snapped, "maybe you don't realize that you're the arrogant asshole that wants everyone to lick your fucking feet just because you're rich."
"Oh, that's what you think of me?" Jonah scoffed.
Kylan rapidly nodded his head, "Yes, you're a nuisance."
"I'm the nuisance?" Jonah raised his eyebrows, "Then why is it that your dad doesn't even want you, huh?" That caused Kylan to gasp, inhaling sharply and his breath falling short in his throat. Jonah nodded his head, a sneer playing on his lips since the adrenaline and the back and forth insults were causing him to want to hurt Kylan, "Yea, you heard me. Your Dad is ashamed of you, so what made me think that I could ever love someone like you?"

Kylan shook his head, "I can't believe you—"
"Well, believe it, because I did nothing wrong to you," he spat, stepping forward and observing Kylan's trembling lips, "I could be with anybody, but I chose you, and you should be grateful for that."
A silence fell between them, and Kylan's eyes filled with tears again, dripping from his chin. He had difficulty breathing, every breath he took too shallow, and he tilted his head to the side, observing the manner Jonah exhaled menacingly. "I can't believe I trusted you."
"I can't believe I said I loved you," Jonah growled back.
Kylan shook his head, "Why are you doing this to me? You came to my house saying you wanted to talk, but you're just insulting me?"
"Because you're hurting my feelings Ky, that's why, and I'm pissed off that my feelings are hurt," he admitted in rage. "You even tried to slam the door in my face. What do I look like to you, a peasant?"
"Because you're shouting at me!"
"And you're shouting at me too!"
"Then get out of my house!"
"Fine," he snarled, stomping towards the door, "but know that I loved you, and I had your back. You're overreacting about this."
Kylan followed him, gritting his teeth as he shouted, "I hope to never see you again."
"Don't worry," he said from the outside, "I hope your father beats you to a pulp."
That comment was enough for Kylan to go ballistic.
The adrenaline in Kylan's body had reached its limit, and he sprinted towards Jonah, clenching his fist and swinging it directly at Jonah's cheek. Every comment about his abuse was eliciting flames within him, and it hurt him even more that Jonah used that as means to hurt him. He had trusted him with that information, and to use it against him was something he never expected from someone who said he loved him.
As he swung his fist, he should have predicted Jonah would dodge it. However, what he had not predicted, was Jonah hitting him back. Jonah slammed his fist into his nose, causing Kylan to stumble backward and fall on the ground. There was no pain due to the raging hormones, but he realized his nose was bleeding soon enough, and Jonah, with widened eyes, realizing what he had done, returned to his car and drove away from the parking lot.
