Chapter 76: Overgeared
[Name: Adaptive Armor of Scaling]
[Notice: The item's name is changeable.]
[Grade: N/A]
[Durability: 100/100]
[Information: The armor refreshes its durability every day. Depending on the fight which the wearer gets into, the armor will create a resistance to the most potent attack type. If there are multiple attack types, then the armor will equally distribute this potency to the kinds used by the enemy.]
[Information: If the armor breaks, it will simply regenerate and, after a week, it can be used once again. Upon getting broken, it will develop a strong resistance to whatever it is that broke it.]
[Information: The armor takes in all the regenerative ability of the user and, the higher these are, the faster the armor can regain its durability.]contemporary romance
[Information: Materials have been added in the crafting which increases basic attributes. Hence, the wearer of the armor gains a 30% bonus on all attributes.]
"Now would you look at that, I finally gained something that could match the skills and attributes I've faithfully distributed all my points to." Zeke told to himself, getting excited on the idea of using the armor.
Another thing which made him glad is that, there is no level requirement for suing the armor. Hence, even if he continues leveling down, he can still use this armor in order to better defend himself.
With the scales he placed on the armor, he was able to gain the resistance provided by each kind of [Drago Hydra] scale. But things didn't simply end there. With the [Dweller's Clothing] being added to the mix, Zeke was also able to add the feature of boosting the attribute points of the wearer. Something which Zeke badly needed as his attributes will begin decreasing day in and day out.
Aside from this, Zeke made various items in order to support himself better. The first is [Death's Symphony V3].
The added feature to this weapon is that, both guns now has a retractable blade. This blade is made from the same material which Zeke used to pierce through the [Dragon Hydra]. It is the remnant of Harun's [Thousand Spear]. And, adding to this is Zeke using the core of Sebastian's shield on one gun while using the [Refined Mana Crystal] on the other gun. He also dissected the shield, making it the base of the gun while also adding in the scales of the [Dragon Hydra] to better control the influx of elements whenever he needs to use them.
Thus, in the end, he was able to create a weapon which can be used for both close and long ranged combat. Due to the [Dragon Hydra] scales added, each bullet can have a different property to it. Zeke crafted the bullets in such a way that, they functioned similarly to a mana absorbing steel.
Whatever element Zeke thinks of, the guns will create it for him – condensing the type of mana into the bullets and, firing it on an output based on how long the charge was made.
Other than this, Zeke also made a necklace which boosted his mana by 30%. Adding to this are shoes which improved his [Quick Step] even further, enabling him to reach a level which is faster than [Flash Step].
Aside from this, Zeke also made a belt which can deploy shields. The shields are made of mana and so, there is a certain limit to their durability. However, as they are made of this, the shields can also regenerate, giving Zeke enough chances to fight back no matter how monstrous an opponent may be.
Apart from this, the shield also has another function. They also serve as a type of amplification to the shots made using [Death's Symphony.] With the problem of having to charge up his bullets again, Zeke thought of a way to pass through this obstacle no matter what element he chooses to use.
With the belt, Zeke can deploy small funnels in front of the guns. The bullets will pass through these and, with every funnel passed through, the bullet will increase in strength by 10%. Hence, Zeke can still fire rapidly without losing any damage output. He was also able to make a [Sniper Rifle]. Although this one hasn't gotten through the testing phase and currently has only two bullets which could be used.
Zeke didn't stop here. He made enough armor and weapons for all his conjures. He spent all his [System Coins] ensuring that all his conjures are properly geared for the upcoming battle.
Then, with all of this being set, Zeke bought one final skill and added it to his arsenal. Together with this is another item which he is excited to use. And with this, the human went to sleep once more, instinctively knowing that the day which awaits him will be longer and more tiring the rest he has experienced thus far.
…
…
…
The sun didn't rise yet but Zeke was already out of the Cabin. He wen into the forest just as he was instructed and, found Yaeger on the spot where Heron is being kept.
"You came. I thought that you'd at least think this through before actually agreeing to my next request." Yaeger said, almost sounding like she regrets seeing Zeke. After all, the burden she's about to give the human is much larger than any normal mortal could bear.
"Let's just get this over with, shall we? I still have a long day ahead of me." Zeke replied, holding his stance against the goddess.
When Yaeger explained everything to Zeke, she also mentioned the only way for Heron to be released. That is, a mortal must defeat her in hand to hand combat.
For the fight to be fair, the human can set five rules. But none of these should include handicaps that are too impossible. Nor any of the sort which would put the goddess in an obvious disadvantage.
"I only have two condition. One is that you can only use normal weapons without any divine element added to them. And the second is, you aren't allowed to use any divine skill." Zeke said, knowing that both of these would make the fight an easy win for the goddess.
"Agreed." The goddess replied, stretching her body and preparing to fight. She then looked at Zeke who is already at his fighting position and then, without a moment of hesitation, Yaeger bolted in for the kill,
Zeke managed to dodge this by a hair's breadth. The [Counter] skill activated immediately, making his pistols aim at the goddess. Unfortunately for him however, Yaeger has unnaturally fast reflexes and thus, she was able to use her hands to twist her body immediately, kicking the guns up as she regained her posture.
The goddess wasted no time and began firing hundreds of throwing knives at Zeke, all aiming at the human's vitals.
"Conjure!" Zeke said, releasing all of his summons at once. Sebastian, Lupus and Samael shielded most of the knives while, the other monsters either parried the blow or became unwilling victims to the strike.
The [Winged Monkeys] and the [Carnivorous Turtle Hatchlings] all scattered atrium the battlefield as a result – all of them being unable to make a single move as the goddess proceeded to taking out two hunting daggers.
She lashed out at Zeke who also took out the blades on his pistols. The goddess is not surprised at the weapon as, she has already seen various sorts from all the worlds that have been created.
"That's what you'd call a gunblade am I correct? You have quite a poor taste for weaponry human." The goddess talked nonchalantly to Zeke as if she is belittling the skills of the human.
Zeke knew what the goddess was trying to do. She's simply provoking him, trying to make him drop his guard for a moment. Unfortunately for the goddess, Zeke has already encountered all types of toxic players back on earth. As such, the goddess' words had no effect on him.
Both his guns have already began charging. But the goddess didn't back away. Instead she twisted her body in ways that Zeke couldn't follow. Yaeger tried to find the angel where she could make the gunblade shoot at Zeke. However, the human has [Counter] effect. This made the Goddess' plan nearly impossible as, Zeke was able to step away.
He then used quick step and, with his new boots, Zeke moved like a sharp wind through the forest. Both guns are still charging and the goddess is aware of this. Hence, she just waited for the bullets to come; confident that she could dodge or parry them. And this happened sooner than she thought.
The bullets came as a combination of lightning and fire – both projectiles swirling to the point that they combined together. The goddess felt the immense amount of strength condensed on this attack and smiled from the thrill of having to face it head on. However, she is quickly disappointed as she was able to parry this shot upward – completely deflecting it without getting harmed.
But then, she felt something sharper come for her neck and, the goddess immediately summoned two shields; blocking on the direction where this feeling came from. Unlike what happened earlier, she didn't know what to expect from the attack. That is why, as the swing brough her flying, the goddess was caught by surprise.
She as able to get over this shock easily and, landed with both her feet on the trunk of the tree. She then leaped forward to where Zeke is but then, the human spun to the side as [Counter] took effect once again.
Zeke then aimed at the nape of the goddess. But Yaeger was able to predict through this; sweeping her legs on the ground and forcing Zeke to jump up in order to not trip over. Zeke saw the goddess smirk and, in an instant, he is sent flying just like how she did a few seconds back. Zeke wasn't able to land as gracefully as Yaeger as he broke a lot of his bones.
The goddess appeared him no time. It is a real battle after all and, in a real battle, pauses and time outs do not happen.
Zeke used his shields in order to block the blow while these also served as platforms for him. He then began releasing a mass of [Poison Clouds] within the area and, the goddess laughed at this.
"You think a bit of poison is enough to stop the goddess of the hunt?" She said, feeling Zeke's presence and diving through the poison without sustaining much damage. Sure enough, she was able to get Zeke but then, the human moved out of range once more, hitting her with bullets from within the sea of [Poison Clouds].
The goddess figured out the strategy of the human right away. 'He probably plans to use the poison in order to get me confused.' The goddess thought to herself which she found to be unfortunate for the human. After all, as the goddess of the hunt, she has a natural way of tracking down her prey and so, even with the sea of poison surrounding them, Yaeger knew exactly where Zeke is.
She then prepared for her last strike. She found it unfortunate for the human but, she also knows that Zeke can still resurrect. So, even if she kills the human, no actual harm would be done.
"It's been fun Zeke, but I guess you won't be taking my daughter out of here." And at this, the goddess transformed into a giant dark wolf which moved at light speed toward her prey. But, he was not there. Or rather, he has already moved away.
This is followed by a rain of bullets which contained various ellements. The goddess is completely caught by surprise and, has no idea what to do anymore as the onslaught continued, registering Zeke on various areas all oat once.
The damage built up little by little until, Zeke finally ran out of bullets. At this, Yaeger found her chance to strike. And, to her surprise, Zeke took her attack without any effort to dodge.
"What is the meaning of this? Are you giving up?" The goddess said as she reverted to her human form.
"You should look at your surroundings before you assume that." Zeke said and, at this, the goddess used her hunter eyes to better analyze the area. There was nothing at first but then, as she looked at the poison cloud even further, she noticed some blue particles mixed together with the poison.
"Don't tell me…" The goddess began in disbelief.
"Mana cores? Yup. Finely grinded and almost dust like in appearance. Each of those has the capacity to take in an element and, all they need is the stopping of my heart I order to detonate."
At this, the goddess' eyes widened in horror.
"The barrage I made earlier wasn't mean to finish you off. It was meant to give these tiny particles the necessary firepower in order to take them out of dormancy. Once an element gets absorbed in them, they'd blow up inside of you. Now I'm not sure how strong a goddess' body is but, I'm betting one of these should finish the job for me." Zeke said, grinning excitedly.
The goddess still found everything to be unbelievable. But, as she began accepting reality, Yaeger began laughing. She took out her hand from Zeke's stomach and snapped her finger, using godly powers in order to heal him completely. And at this, the goddess of the hunt admitted her defeat.
Zeke Elwood became the first human to defeat a god.
