Chapter 60: Double the Trouble

Zeke couldn't explain why but, as soon as he shot the dragon, a deep sadness welcomed him. It was nothing which he has ever known or experienced at an earlier moment in his life. Nor did he understand why he felt something like this from a creature which he just met. Here it is, dragging his

The emotion felt heavy and burdensome. Like it was something which he has carried for thousands of years. Zeke is sure of himself that he has never met the dragon. And yet, the encounter made him feel like he was home. The complete opposite of the demise which shattered him to the core as [Death's Symphony] went past the head of Heron, creating a bullet hole right through the dragon's forehead.

The moment replayed in his head over and over again. As much as he wanted to shove it to the farthest recess of his mind, the memory simply emerged back up. It forced its way to the top of Zeke's thoughts, disturbing the human who wanted nothing to do with a boss spawn in a goddesses' own realm. Hence, he continued trying to dump all his emotions…pushing them at the corner of his being as there is no logical explanation for them.

On the scene left by Sylvia's attack, the dragon laid lifeless on the ground. It went back to its original form, making Zeke come even closer. He touched its head as if waiting for a voice to speak but, there was nothing – only a silence which disappointed him. At this, the other elves finally reached the scene.

The two younger Windsprites hugged their sister right away. They held their sister close as if, she had been gone for a long time. Sylvia answered in kind, chuckling as she the top of both Allesiah and Sylph's head.contemporary romance

"You little imps. I'm going to personally punish you when we get back." Sylvia said, getting information from Zeke. He continued speaking with her through the [Voice Chat] and, Sylvia did this while fighting an evolved [D+] monster.

Zeke looked at the eldest Windspirte, trying to pre-occupy his mind with something that will distract him the who day through. The image of Heron the [Dragon Morpher] is nothing which he welcomes gladly. Hence, Zeke continue his observation of the female sorceress.

Sylvia actually looked different from her previous appearance. There is a large change including her hair which is now a silky jet black while her eyes are crimson red. He body is bewitching which, gives justice to how a lot of men ogled at her while she was still in the capital. Aside from this however, there isn't any change to the behavior of the elf. She still moved and spoke to her sisters the same way she did before the evolution.

The eldest Windsprite then approached Zeke, thanking the human for his assistance during her evolution. The image is a bit hazy for him but, Zeke knows that it is largely through Zeke's help that she survived.

"I didn't do much." Zeke said with a low amount of energy. He couldn't bring himself to be cheerful for some reason and, that bothered him more than anything.

"That's not true." Sylvia replied, smiling at the human.

"If it weren't for you, there would have been chances of me dying in that process. Thanks to the staff you made, that feeling went away and, as it did, the evolution came as a success." Sylvia continued.

"Don't mention it." Zeke replied, getting more and mor irritated about the fact that, he can't remove the last word uttered by the dragon to him…[Farewell]

With this, Zeke finally resolved to do one thing – to talk to the goddess Yaeger about the current state of things.

"Guys, I'll leave you to do that work." Zeke said to the elves which all made sound s of complaint.

"You still have a debt to pay for acting without my permission. I hope that you properly use your bodies for that task." Zeke continued, making the group fall in silence and continue butchering through the dragon's corpse.

"Do you need to be somewhere?" Allesiah asked, worried about the strange behavior of her master. Not only did Zeke fail to make a series of command – the human is also strangely quiet…too much for Allesiah's own comfort.

"It's nothing, the goddess just called me back. I need to attend to her summons in order to get a favorable result after all of this is dealt with." Zeke replied, using a teleportation scroll and not allowing any further questions to be asked.

There were various things that Zeke needed to clarify. First is the topic of having human predecessors which the deities have summoned to Mythos. Second is, if these warriors have a connection to each other. While the last is, how often do gods intervene on various affairs of the world.

As soon as Zeke arrived at the cabin, he saw the goddess Yaeger shaping the tips of her arrows using a dagger. The goddess glanced at the figure which just came, smiling at Zeke as she continued her work.'

"You're back early." The goddess began as Zeke approached her.

"Yeah well, Sylvia did most of the dirty work for us." Zeke replied, standing just in front of Yaeger who did not stop from her activity. The goddess blew on the arrowhead that has just been shaped. She then closed her right eye – focusing on seeing the arrowhead with her left eye.

"Care to tell me what you are thinking?" The goddess added, seeing something different in how Zeke looked at her. She felt the cold eyes of the human stare at her as if she is a villain. Clearly, the goddess is not such and so, she pressed on with this question. This is, until the point that Zeke finally answered her question.

"The idea just occurred to me that, you guys may not be the good guys in this story." At these words uttered by Zeke, the goddess stopped at what she was doing. She then made a sigh and, shortly after, continued shaping the tip of another bow. She finished this one faster than the other, doing the finishing touches the same way she did when Zeke watched.

"What makes you think that?" The goddess replied to Zeke.

Zeke wanted to answer straight on. He wanted to tell the goddess about the summoning crystals and about all the complaints of a soul that just wants to break free. He wanted to tell her that, a thousand years is probably enough of a punishment and that, the monster should be allowed to go where it needs to be.

This was all new to Zeke himself. Before meeting Heron, he wouldn't have cared no matter how many monsters he killed. Now however, a melancholic smile haunted his head, showing the dragon as it repeated the same word over and over again.

"Farewell."

"Farewell."

"Farewell."

Zeke still heard it ringing in his ears. He heard it so loud that he began thinking how the dragon could've planted a spell on him. However, the moment felt so real and so did the experience e of moving through a slowed down dimension.

"Zeke." The goddess started.

"I don't even understand what all this fuss is a out. As far as I'm concernment, you guys are doing a pretty decent job in accomplishing the task I set out for you." She continued, inspecting the new arrowhead which she just finished shaping.

She then looked at Zeke with a stern expression. The goddess didn't like being questioned about her methods. More so is this distasteful for her when a mere mortal asks her the question. However, Zeke is special and the goddess just wanted to let the event slide. If only Zeke would relent from the questions.

"Look, you accepted the at request. You could've denied my request and I would've been more than willing to bring you back to Elysium. Yet you're here. You accepted my invitation and, even this petty task that I had prepared." She said, staring at the mortal's eyes. She then took another arrow from her quiver and continued performing the same activity.

"Look Zeke…you are a special human. On the history of the deities, there has only been two which those three chose." Sylvia continued, referring to Nisha, Sinclair, and Chrono.

"The first one died hundreds of years ago while, the next one is standing right in front of me." She added.

"Then can you answer my questions?" The mortal said, wanting to get the dead dragon out of his head. This is also the safest route for him to take. With the goddess wanting to keep him alive, he's sure that it would take something more beneficial than his death to make it change its minds.

"Yeah sure but, under one condition. You know, knowledge between the gods is something confidential. Hence, I need to ask you of something of an equal caliber." The goddess Yeager said, finally finishing the last arrow for her quiver.

"What is it?" Zeke asked.

"You need to defeat the [Fifth Boss Spawn] all by yourself."
