Chapter 114
Sabrina's POV:
I have been summoned by the crown prince? By name?
I stared blankly at the guards. Devon's warning rang out clear in my head. But can I really choose bus order over a command from the crown prince? Won't that be digging my own grave?
I thought about it for a long moment. To obey Devon or to obey the crown prince? If I played my cards right, this could be a very good opportunity for me.
"I can't accept that invitation." I said to the guards. "Alpha Devon has forbidden me from leaving this palace, and he has also forbidden me from seeing the Prince again."
The guards exchanged looks. But thankfully, they didn't press for answers. "Very well." They said and why walked away.
Now, time to continue enjoying my free day by searching for a means of escape.
The chaotic activities were only taking place inside the palace. I walked outside and toured the compound. It was very peaceful, the air was clean and crisp and the sun felt gentle on my back and face. I paused for a moment to just soak up all the sunlight. It's been a while since I last had time to just breathe and exist.
Something cold brushed my leg. I brushed it off, thinking it was nothing serious. I felt it again, a slightly sharp edge attached to it. I looked down.
A scream ripped out of my throat. I jumped back, my heart began to race fast. There was a snake on the ground. Long and black, it's body covered in iridescent scales that caught light and glowed an array of colors. A forked tongue slithered out of its mouth, and I felt that it's beady eyes were watching me intently. However it made no move to strike me.
I tilted my head to the side, and it mirrored the motion. I moved to the left, and it did the same. Cautiously, I crouched down, still having distance between us. I reached out my hand for it. It crawled towards me and placed its head in my hand, Tentatively at first, then relaxing.
I laughed softly. "You're actually pretty cute," I said. It's body moved closer to my arm, and slowly it moved up my arm, it's scales cool and it's under belt soft. "Are you going to bite me?"
It stared at me. I began to laugh. It's a snake. It's not like it can understand human language. Although if it is a poisonous snake, then I am in big trouble.
"You don't look very poisonous."
It opened its mouth, showing monstrous fangs that dropped yellowish venom. I gasped, for a moment scared that it'll bite me. Instead it closed it's mouth and wrapped it's body around my arm in a snug coil. 1 exhaled with relief. "Than goodness. That would have been...."
"Sue!"
I suddenly jerked, hearing my name called so loudly. Even the snake was startled. It hissed in anger and slid right off my arm. I jumped to my feet and turned around to see Devon. And boy did he look pissed. "What the fuck are you doing here?!" He asked, his tone rising an octave.

*I was doing as you instructed, alpha Devon"
"Really?! You plan to start something between I and my cousin by telling his fucking guards I told you not to see him again?!"
I blinked innocently. "Well, that is what you said to me. You ordered me to never see him again."
You little brat." He spat in anger. "You are going to the palace. Matter of fact, there are guards waiting outside to take you
there.
"But your orders..."
"I'm giving you fucking permission! For fucks sake!"
I pursed my lips. He closed the space between us and grabbed me by my hair. He yanked me closer to him and snarled. "Don't go about having any stupid ideas or trying to run away. Am I clear?" "Yes, alpha Devon."
"And also, know what to say to my cousin at all times. He's the crown prince, don't ever forget that.
"You're hurting me." I gasped softly, my scalp screaming out in pain from how hard he was holding me. He responded by gripping my hair tighter.
"If I get so much as one complaint from you, you'll be in trouble." He said.
Anger flashed through me and I had half the mind to glare at him. "I won't." I replied, keeping my tone steady.
He let go of my hair and shoved me aside. "And lastly. When you see him, tell the prince that you do not wish to see him again, and he shouldn't summon you."
"Why?"
"Because I said so, Sue. Now get going."
I stormed away in anger, deliberately refusing to bow. I heard him say something about how I was an annoying brat, but I paid him no heed. At the front gate of the mansion were the guards waiting for me. The very same ones I had told that I won't be following them. Without any words exchanged, they led me to the carriage that was waiting.
The ride to the palace was quiet and peaceful. About an hour or more. We arrived at the palace and I was led right through the halls to the crown prince.
"Sue," He said when he spotted me. "Come, join me," He waved at the table before him, laid out with various foods.
My mind drifted back to the palace. To the first time I had been invited to have dinner with the king.
Don't think about him now.
"Your highness," I bowed to the prince and walked over to join him.
"Did you have a good journey here?" He asked, his face smiling and gentle.
"Yes. Thank you very much." A servant put some food on my plate, and poured a glass of wine. I sipped the wine wincing at the tart taste.
He looked at me long and hard. "What's the matter? You don't seem well. Was any of my guards rude to you?"
I shook my head and laughed. "No, not at all."
"You can be free with me, what's the matter?"
