Chapter 84
Jacob’s resentment was evidently deep–rooted, and the interrogation lasted for several hours without any pause.
Aurelia, though “punished” severely and physically drained, felt no impact on her central nervous system, which transmitted feelings of excitement and pleasure.
Indeed, sex proved to be the best way to relax the nerves.
After the conquest had finally subsided, both of them were drenched in sweat and had no desire to move. Jacob lazily slid his fingers across her face and asked, “Did anyone say anything to you while I was drunk?”
“Hmm? What could they possibly say to me?” Aurelia lazily responded.
“Auri. don’t burden yourself with anything. I never intended to harm you. I do admire you, of course. If one day, you start appreciating me and liking me, I would be even happier. Don’t you think we are well–suited?” Jacob questioned.
Aurelia remained silent, relaxing her body and closing her eyes as if she were about to fall asleep.
After waiting for a while without Aurelia’s speaking, Jacob lowered his head and noticed that her eyes were shut. He became somewhat displeased and said. “Hey, Auri. I’m talking to you. Can you hear me?”
“Mmm… 1 heard you!” she replied.
“Then, at least respond to me! What’s your opinion?” Jacob inquired.
“Jacob, I really have no thoughts right now. I just want to rest for a while. I’m exhausted,” Aurelin replied in a languid tone.. “You’re still avoiding my question.” Jacob suddenly said, his voice becoming somewhat heavy after a moment of silence.
Upon hearing that, Aurelia furrowed her brows and opened her eyes, propping herself up on his chest.
Aurelia looked at his young yet serious face and said, “Jacob, you said that you don’t want me to have any burden, but now you’re forcing me to express myself. Isn’t that putting me in a difficult position? What do you want to hear from me? Do you want me to say that I actually like you a lot? Jacob, you’re a grown man and a smart person. If I were to say that, would you believe it? Besides. Jacob, with your pride, can you tolerate a woman who is not being frank and honest in front of you?”
Aurelia paused before continuing. “You want me to be your woman, and I agreed. You enjoy my body, and I also enjoy the intimacy between us. We are both adults and having this level of understanding between us is already a good start. In this world, relationships cannot progress rapidly. Don’t you agree? 1, Aurelia, may be seen as an insignificant person or a worldly woman who can trade her body for any benefit in the eyes of some people. But when it comes to our relationship. Jacob, I hope for something simpler between us. To put it bluntly, you are not the kind of person who can handle it!”
With that, Aurelia completely moved away from his chest, sat up, and grabbed her bathrobe from the side, intending to get
off the bed.
However, Jacob suddenly seized her wrist, looking at her with a dangerous gaze. “Auri, repeat what you said earlier. What do you mean by saying I’m not the kind of person who can handle it?”
Aurelia looked calmly into his eyes, glanced at his large hand gripping her wrist, and said gently. “You’re hurting me!”
“Aurelia!”
“Jacob, do
you know that your face is filled with frustration and exasperation right now? It shows that you’re starting to take me seriously. But do you know what I’m thinking?” she asked.
Aurelia tugged on her wrist, but he didn’t let go. Her brows furrowed even more.
“I am a woman who can only offer you my body but not my heart. I don’t want to be a secret lover who is hidden and not known about by the world for a lifetime. We’ve already discussed this issue yesterday!” She continued, “If we were together. you wouldn’t be able to protect me. Don’t you know that when people like you care too much about a woman, it often. signifies a bad mutcome for her? She usually ends up with a tragic fate!”
“Aurelia, don’t you have confidence in me? Do you think 1, Jacob, can’t even provide the most basic sense of security to my woman? What makes you have such absurd thoughts?”
“Is it absurd? Well then! Regardless of whether it’s my absurd self–assumption or not, I just want to ask you one thing now. Can you keep your promises?”
“Of course! I am always a man of my word! Jacob said in a deep voice.
“That’s good! We are lovers, and we are only involved in passion and not love. Once I find someone I truly like, this relationship will automatically end.”
“Aurelia!” Jacob stared at her, his expression turning threatening. “Do you really think that if I desire you, I will keep tolerating you endlessly?”
Aurelia calmly shook her head and stretched her hand before gently placing it on his cheek. “No, you’re wrong. It’s because T don’t want you to tolerate me. So I said those words.

“Explain it clearly to me, and don’t use vague concepts!”
“It means that I don’t want to have to use you someday!” Aurelia’s voice suddenly rose, her expression turning icy cold in an
instant.
The atmosphere in the room became tense.
Jacob released his grip on Aurelia’s wrist. She draped a robe over herself and headed toward the bathroom.
When she finished bathing and got out, Jacob was no longer in the room. The only thing left was an unfinished cigarette. extinguished in the ashtray on the bedside table.
Just like the sudden start of their relationship, it abruptly ended halfway.
Aurelia leaned against the wall, feeling exhausted. She was both physically and mentally drained.
After returning from Xandenia, Aurelia seemed to have completely forgotten everything that had happened before and wholeheartedly devoted herself to her own career.
It was Friday, April 14th.
For Aurelia, that was truly the first day of her rebirth. It was a day that held significant meaning, not only for herself but also for Charles, who would remember it for many years to come as a groundbreaking moment.
All the stock traders, including the financial analysis team, who were recruited with a large sum of money, had already been in place before that day.
A total of 7,000 stock trading accounts in 31 securities exchanges spread across 16 provinces in the country had gradually started buying the same stock, Tospait Vessels, from that day onward.
The reason for using so many accounts and buying the stock in batches was to avoid attracting attention.
With a colossal sum of 19 million dollars divided and scattered, once it entered the gradually rising stock market, it wouldn’t cause even the slightest ripple.
The largest accounts held only around 200 thousand dollars, while many retail investor accounts held a few hundred dollars only.
Following Aurelia’s instructions, they first made small purchases using multiple retail investor accounts, controlling the price below eight dimes.
Charles, as the executor of the actual orders, felt worried when Aurelia demanded that all the money be invested in only one stock.
However, Charles‘ genuine admiration for Aurelia’s charisma made him unable to ignore her commands.
At the end of the trading day, a total of 23,000 shares of Tospait Vessels had been successfully purchased through 1,300 retail investor accounts, with an average price of seven dimes, totaling around 1.6 million dollars in funds.
That accounted for nearly nine percent of the total prepared capital.
Even Charles thought that buying such a large amount of funds in just one day was a bit excessive.
After the market had closed, he even analyzed Tospait Vessels‘ stock performance. With his years of experience, he couldn’t see any potential for the stock to rise. At least in the short term, it would definitely not become a hot pick.
Since the instructions given to the stock traders had been singlehandedly issued by Charles, no one knew that they were all buying the same stock. They thought it was just a warm–up before the real game.
After all, many manipulators and speculators would release some smoke screens before secretly targeting a specific stock. It would give the illusion that the stock was about to rise, while they were actually planning to manipulate another one.
Those diversión tactics were quite common, so besides Aurelia and Charles himself, who followed her orders and only bought that stock, no one realized that the true act had already begun.
The following day happened to be Saturday, which was a non–trading day in the stock market.
When Monday, April 17th, arrived, the slight fluctuations caused by the increased trading volume of Tospait Vessels on the previous Friday had already been overshadowed by other stocks with better upward trends.
Although some individuals with keen market sensitivity vaguely sensed something unusual, it didn’t raise enough attention.
After all, with so many stocks available in the entire stock market, a low–performing stock like Tospait Vessels couldn’t attract the interest of those hoping to get rich overnight.
On the contrary, some people who initially held that stock in their portfolios started selling as soon as they noticed a slight price increase.
For Aurelia, that was a favorable situation.
