Okay, here I am. Open the door. Come on Shadow. Do it. You can do it. They won’t kill you. I hope.

I took a deep breath and opened the apartment door. As I stepped into the living room, all of them were siting on the couches and staring at me.

I gave them a sheepish smile. “Hey guys.”

Silence.

“Hey guys.” I said a little bit louder.

“Don’t you dare ‘hey guys’ us.” Sparky said and point her finger at me.

I looked at River begging him to save my ass.

“Don’t you dare to look at me with that face. It’s 9 pm! You know how freaked out I was?? You left into the forest, ALONE, for 1 hour! You know that that forest is full of darks and they can chop your head off with just one finger????!!!” River was now yelling at me and walking in my direction.

With every step he took ahead I took one back because River is mad and I’m not stupid. Sadly my back was now pressed into the wall and River was right in front of my breathing like a dragon.

“I’m sorry River. I was just shocked and I wanted some time alone. I’m sorry.” I said, actually whispered because he really scared me. I’m not getting scared easily but he looks like he was going to kill me and I’m scared because I know he can kill me.

“River! You idiot, you’re scaring her! Look at her face!” Flame yelled at him.

His face soften and sighs. “I’m sorry for yelling at you but I was just worried. Don’t do that ever again.” he said and hugged me.

“Okay....Now can you let me go?”

“Fine. But we have some things to discuss.” he let me go and gave me a pointed look.

“YOU! You are an idiot!” Sparky yelled and punched me in the shoulder.

“AUCH! Woman! Stop being violent!” I yelled back at her.

“Don’t-”

“ENOUGH!” Flame yelled and dragged us into the living room. “Sit.”

I didn’t had the energy to protest so I just dropped myself on the couch next to Hazel.

“Now that we all are here, you kids need to know a little detail because tomorrow we start attending this academy and you have to know why the kids will be staring at you. You don’t have wh-”

“OMG! Just say it already!!” I yelled exasperated.

“Okay, calm down! We are royals.” Flame said and puffed his chest out.

Me, Sparky, Lincoln and Sky, we all had another reaction.

I was blinking, Sparky started to laugh, Lincoln has a WTF face and Sky looked like he was about to faint.

“Yeah, right.” Sparky said between her laughing.

I sighed. “To be honest, nothing surprise me right now.”

“Why everything is spinning?” Sky looked paler that usual.

“Well, at least it was better than this morning. Yup, we all are royals and that’s why we are so powerful. The royals are more powerful than the normal elementars.” River said relieved.

“And why are royals so powerful?” Lincoln asked and rolled his eyes.

“Because our grand grand grandparents were the ones that built this world and its rules. They were the leaders and they were the only ones who could control the rare elements. That’s why.” River explained and Flame glared at Lincoln.

“Hold on, hold on. So our parents were the leaders and this means that we are the next leaders?” I asked and I felt like I could vomit.

“Yes and no. Yes because that’s the rule and no because we need to be older than 18. Oh, and just one from each family can take the throne. Because you see, the ones that lead this world are actually a council formed by one member from each royal family. We, the Moonlights are the head of the council are the Firestorms are our right hand. The rest of the royals are just part of the council.”

“YASS! I love the Firestorms!” Sparky said excited.

“You are a Firestorm, right?” I chuckled and asked her.

“Yass! This means that I’m your right hand! That’s awesome!!” she was jumping up and down.

I chuckle and turned to River. “So how many royal families are?”

“Are the Moonlights, the Firestorms, the Celests, the Earthquakes and the Darkbolts, so 5 royal families.”

“So 1 family is missing from our team.” I said more to myself.

“Not really.” Ash said reading a book.

“What do you mean?”

“You would’ve know but you ran away this morning.” he said his eyes still on his book.

“And....” I said motioning for him to continue.

“The principal said that tomorrow the last member will came here to be a part of this team.”

“Oh.” it’s all I could say.

I put my head on Hazel’s shoulder and yawned.

He chuckled. “Tired?”

I was so tired that I just shook my head ‘No’, earning a scoff from him.

“Yeah, right. Let’s call it a night and let’s put you in bed, little one.” he said and picked me up.

“I’m not little.” I mumbled with my eyes heavy.

“Yes you are. Compared to me, you really are.”

I mumbled some incoherent words when he put me in my bed. I cuddled into my blanket and buried my face in the pillow.

“Night, crazy.”

That’s the last thing I heard before I drifted to sleep.

“Wakie wakie.” someone said and shook me softly.

I turned around to face the wall.

“Shadow. Wake up.” someone continued to insist.

“But I don’t want to.” I mumbled.

“You have to or you’ll be late for school.”

When I heard the word ‘school’ I opened my eyes and screamed ‘NO’.

“Yes, you have. Now, wake up or Mr. Trumpet comes back.”

I jumped from my bed and dragged myself into the bathroom cursing under my breath.

Stupid Hazel. Stupid school. Stupid school. And stupid school again.

After I did my morning routine I walked into my closet and decided to wear a black hoodie, some black skinny jeans and a pair of black Nike air max.

“Morning.” I mumbled and seat on my normal spot, next to a sleepy Lincoln.

“Morning kiddo. Eat.” River said and put a plate full of waffles.

As I was devouring my waffles, Sparky walked in and started to eat in silence.

Weird.

By the time I finished my breakfast, everyone was ready to go. I took my backpack and I pulled out my schedule which arrived this morning.

Okay, what’s spellology? Anyway, I have the first and the last 2 hours with Sparky, and the rest of the hours with Lincoln and Sky. And the cherry from the top of the cake is that in Team work, all of us we will be there actually doing team work.

“Girls, boys, at the first floor you have the first 3 hours, at the second floor it’s the gym where the fighting lessons will be held, at the third floor is the cafeteria and if you walk out of the hall by the big black door from the second floor, you will be teleported to where the flying field and where we will do out team work. Understood?” River explained us and we all nodded.

“Good. Now go before the bell rings.”

He didn’t had to tell us twice. Me and Sparky walked in our first class and took a seat in the back of the class. All of the idiots from this class were staring at us like they just saw a fucking unicorn.

I rolled my eyes and pulled out a notebook. I looked at the notebook and it was my old French notebook. I opened it at the first blank page but I stopped when I saw one of my drawings.

My eyes widen when I realized that this girl was actually me in the Obstacles Race.

“Are you okay? You look a little pale.” Sparky asked me worried.

I closed the notebook fast. “Yes. I’m fine.”

She doesn’t believe me but she says okay and leaves me alone.

How the fuck I knew that I’ll take that exam and I’ll be wearing those clothes and how I fucking knew about the obstacle race??

I was pulled out of my trance when the professor walked in. “Hello, students. I’m Mr. Sand and this year we will learn about our history, what we are and what can we do. I hope we will get along without any other problems.” he said smiling at us.

He looked no older than 25 years old. Why would someone so young take a job as a professor? The whores were already drooling at him. Disgusting. I mean, I understand that he looks okay with blond hair and brown warm eyes but still. It’s our professor for goodness sake!

Mr. Sand started to tell us the basics. How many elements are, what can we do, about our marks, all the things I already now.

I was almost falling asleep when the classroom door slams open.

“What a pleasure Mr. Darkbolt. You finally decided to join us! Go and take a seat in the back. Don’t be late again or you’ll listen to me from outside.” I heard Mr. Sand saying but I didn’t raised my head to look at the new kid.

I heard him walk and sit down at the table in my right. I kept my head on the table.

“Psst. Shadow. This is the boy Ash was talking about and he is staring at you. Look but don’t be ob-” Sparky tried to tell me to don’t be obvious but to late.

I spin around and turned to see what this fucker wants. My eyes widen when I came into view with a familiar black haired guy with an awesome jawline. He was still staring at me even if I caught him.

“You! I know you!” I whispered-yelled at him.

“Do you?” he asked without any expression on his face but I could see the devious glint in his dark eyes.

I rolled my eyes. “Yes, I do. You are the creep that stalked me yesterday.”

He narrowed his eyes at me. “Are you sure?”

I clenched my jaw. “Are calling me stupid?”

“No. Just confused and frustrated.” the corner of his lip turned up a little.

I gave him one of my death glares. “You fucker.”

He really was the guy from the last night and he was getting on my nerves.

Finally, his face breaks into a smirk.

“You really are a tough cookie.”

I turned back at my table.

“Stupid kid.” I mumbled under my breath.

“Do you know him? Am I missing something?” Sparky asked eyeing me.

“No, I don’t know him. I just saw him yesterday in the forest. That’s all.” I said with a shrug.

I could feel his glare on the right side of my head.

Sparky looked passed me and studied him for a little. “He looks good. I ship you two.”

I choked with my own saliva. “What the fuck Sparky? There’s no way in hell that I will be with that idiot.”

She scoffed. “And why not?”

Because he is a dark and I’m more than sure that he is here to spy on us and kill us.

“Because I saw him just 2 times and I already hate him. And he isn’t even that good looking.” I said and wrinkled my nose.

She was looking at me like I was crazy. “Then you must be blind. He looks good. I mean that jaw line though. But I must be honest Ash looks better.” she slapped her hand on her mouth wen she realized what she said.

I looked at her smirking. “Does someone *cough* Sparky *cough* has a crush on someone *cough* Ash *cough*.”

She punched me in the shoulder so hard that if I haven’t take a hold on this table, I’d be flying into the idiot from my right.

“Shut up Shadow.” she was blushing.

I rubbed the spot she hit. “Stop being violent for goodness sake! And the fact that you didn’t said that I’m wrong and the blush on your face says it all.” I said smirking at her.

“Shut up.” was all she said.

I turned around to face the whiteboard with a victorious smirk.

I need to tell Hazel about this.

I fished my phone out from my jeans and turned my back to Sparky, just for my safety.

To: The ball full of sunshine

Hazel!!! Sparky likes Ash!! Operation Asky must start ASAP. Try to find out if grumpy pants likes her. Gotta go.

In less then a minute my phone buzzed.

From: The ball full of sunshine.

OMG! That’s awesome! We really need to make a plan and trust me he likes her. Don’t ask me how I know, I just do. Bye, gotta go to or Miss Dragon will skin me alive with a spoon.

I smirked at the phone and when I look up I saw the idiot looking into my phone. I put my phone in my jeans and slapped him on his face when no one was looking.

He looked at me shocked. “What the fuck?”

“That’s for looking into my phone, stalking me yesterday and for getting on my nerves.” I said and walked out of the room because the bell rang.

Stupid idiot. Hey, I still don’t know his name. Whatever. Why I even want to know his name?
