The Elements

Chapter Night sky

“THE FUCK.” I screamed and jumped from my bed when a loud noise was heard.

“Well, I tried to wake you up two times but it didn’t worked, so I took Mr. Trumpet with me.” Hazel said smirking at me.

I glared at him and I started to count “1....2....3.....4....” when I wanted to say 5 he ran like his life depends on it, because it really depends on it.

I sighed and started to get ready for my shift. I hate patrolling, especially at night. I brushed my teeth and changed in a pair of black shorts and a black hoodie. I put my hair in a high ponytail and tied my laces before I walked out of the room.

“I’m ready fuckers.” I said and walked in.

Flame sighed dramatically. “Finally! Just go and do your job woman! Black is already outside.”

I froze when I remembered that I have to patrol with Black. What the fuck I’ll do now? He will ask me why I defended him or he will murder me. I hope that he will choose a third non violent variant.

“Okay. I’ll go after him......Bye!” I ran out of the house and through thousands of trees.

I have to avoid him with any costs. I don’t want to face him now. I can’t face him now. I’m still feeling bad about what I heard, but I don’t know why and I don’t want to know why.

I should patrol around the academy to prevent any attacks. I ran in the direction of the academy when a big rock appeared in front of me and I bumped into it.

“Fuck.” I cursed and rubbed my nose. Come on! I don’t want to broke it again!

“Sorry. I didn’t had any idea on how to stop you.”

I was froze in my place when I heard that voice. I slowly looked up and saw Black staring back at me. I can bet that I look like a caught deer.

He was looking at me with a serious face and a cold gaze. “How much you heard from my discussion with that girl?”

I pulled out my neutral face. “Not much.”

He takes one step ahead and I took one back. My guard was all up and on high alert.

“Define not much.” he demanded with a dark tone.

I gave him one of my dead glares. “I don’t have to explain you anything.”

Another step ahead. “Yes, yes you have. What you heard was none of your business and it’s crystal clear that you were eavesdropping on us.”

This time I stood my ground. “Oh, really? I think it was my fucking business since a dark was on this territory and it’s my job to find out as many information as I can about what they do and if they plan something.”

He took another steep and I can feel him getting angry but I don’t fucking care. “So what?! That was a private conversation and it was a PERSONAL discussion! And none of your business.”

Okay, now I was angry. “IT DAMN WELL WAS. It’s my damn job to protect this place and your ‘private conversation’ included crucial information for this academy fate so it IS my business! I’m taking my job serious unlikely you! BECAUSE YOU ARE A FUCKING TRAITOR!” I yelled in his face breathing like a dragon.

He started to laugh but this was a dry laugh. “Oh, really? I am a traitor? YOU DON’T HAVE A SINGLE CLUE ABOUT WHAT I’M DOING AND WHY SO DON’T YOU FUCKING DARE TO CALL ME A TRAITOR!”

I took a step ahead. “YES. YOU FUCKING ARE A TRAITOR BECAUSE IF I WOULDN’T HAVE HEARD YOUR DISCUSSION, YOU WOULDN’T HAVE TOLD US ABOUT THE INVASION BECAUSE THAT WOULD HAVE MENT TO TELL US THAT YOU WERE BROTHER WITH A FUCKING DARK!”

The vein from his neck was about to pop. “So what I have a dark sister? I don’t see the problem there.” he said in a too damn calm tone.

“You are stupid or what? If your sister it’s a dark, this means that your parents are too. So are you! You can’t have elementar parents and you to be a dark. It’s simple as that.” I spitted back at him.

He scoffed at me. “So you still think that I’m a dark, huh? Well, let me tell you something.” he leaned his face closer to mint and stopped when our noses were touching. “I’m not a dark but I’m not an elementar either. That’s all you need to know and stay the fuck away of my business.”

I started to laugh. “NO. I won’t stay the fuck away from your business because your business includes the academy.” I leaned on and whispered in his ear on a low and dark tone. “And it’s my job to protect it. I have my eyes on you, Black. At the next wrong move, you are out. And don’t you think that I won’t kill you, because the hell I will. You have your mission and I have mine.” I said and left him there.

Who the hell he think he is? I won’t let him ruin this academy. Not as long as I’m alive and still breathing. I’m going to protect this place and this world like my parents did. This little princess is going to protect her kingdom like she promised and a fucker won’t stop her from doing that.

I started to run around the academy’s grounds to calm myself down because I feel like I can kill a freaking elephant with my bare hands. Running like this means 1. covering a bigger perimeter and 2. calming myself down. It’s like buying 2 big burgers at a price of one.

As I was running I started to observe the forest closer. Here, the trees are much more taller than the ones back home and they look more healthier. The grass was more bigger and fluffier. I could hear it squashing under my weight. The pale moonbeams were slipping between the big green branches of the trees and they were giving the forest a more calmer and also a little creepy look.

I jumped and grabbed a branch with my hands. I climbed in that tree until I could see the night sky full with bright shinning stars. I sighed and seat down, staring at the sky. A wave of sadness hit me when I tried to associate the color of the night sky with something else.

The night sky is the color of his beautiful eyes while the stars are the freckles on his face.

But why would he betray us like that? And what he meant with not dark and not elementar? What can he be? And how could I be so stupid to trust him and let my guard down? I should have known that he was nothing but trouble, but no. I am me, and I am a stupid idiot who likes to give people a chance to prove who they really are. Sometimes, I hate myself for this. I hate myself for thinking that all the persons deserves a chance to show the contrary of what I think about them, because they end up showing me exactly what I thought about them. And Black wasn’t an exception and I hate that I hoped at last that he would be. I hate that I fucking let him in my bubble. I hate that I let him get to me because now, I’m the one hurting here and he doesn’t give a fuck.

Suddenly, the night sky wasn’t the place that makes me happy anymore. Now, it’s the place that makes me think about a certain black haired person that broke my trust on him in two. And my heart along the way.

I got up and jumped back down on the ground. Enough with this self pitiful moment. It’s time to do my job. I started to run again but this I was heading to the dorms. As I was dodging past the trees, a loud sound, like a war cry was heard and the blood ran cold in my veins.

This can’t be happening. We aren’t ready for them. Not yet.

I flied higher than the trees and studied the perimeter. Far away, were the horizon line is, I could see the dust raising up to the sky. I was as pale as the moon when I saw how many they were. At last 100 hundred.

I bolted in the direction of the dorms. I have to tell the guys and then I have to announce the principal too. I literally flied through the front door.

“EVERYONE UP! THE DARKS ARE COMING AND THEY ARE IN A VERY BIG NUMBER TOO! EVERYONE GET READY!!” I yelled and bolted into my room to take my weapons.

I took 2 handguns, 1 shotgun and some grenades River gave me. Sparky was all dressed in black and full of knives. I nodded my head at her and we both walked in the living room where everyone already was.

“We have an alpha code. It means war or a battle. One of us has to go and announce the principal and press the panic button. The button it’s right next to the school’s entrance.” River said and he looked a little panicked.

“I’ll go and after the principal and the button. The rest of you tell everyone else from this building to get ready for a damn good fight.” I said and ran with elementar speed in the academy.

First, I pressed the button and an alarm started to ring and then I walked to the principal’s office. I didn’t bother to knock at the door.

“Mr. we have an alpha code. The darks are at the horizon line and they will be here in less then 2 hours. I already announced the team and I told them to tell the other teams too.” I said in one breath and looked at the principal.

He was in his usual seat, the grin was gone. “You did the right thing. Get the teams Alpha, A, B and C in the conference room. I will come there too and we will make a battle plan.”

“Yes, sir.” I said and this time I mean it.

I ran back to the dorms and everybody was already out, all of them equipped and full with guns, knives and other weapons.

“Listen up everyone! Team Alpha, A, B and C are waited in the conference room by the principal!” I yelled and walked past all the people until I arrived at the entrance of the conference room.

Everyone was already there and seat down on a place. I walked in too and stayed next to my friends. Apparently, we don’t have enough seats for everyone so we will seat on our own feet.

Not less than 5 minutes later, Raven walked in and closed the door behind him. All the conversions stopped and it was dead silent. Raven pressed some key combination, and on the big screen appeared the scheme of the academy ground.

“I think we all know why are we here so I’ll skip the futile explanations because we don’t have time. That black dot represents the darks and as you can see they are moving pretty fast in our direction.” a black dot can be seen right at the end of the forest but how Raven said, they were moving fast.

“Now, we need a battle plan and a good one too because they are more then 100. Any ideas?”

Everyone stayed silent. Come on guys! This is a death or life situation!

“I think we should attack them as long as they are still in the woods. We shouldn’t let them get to close to the academy.” I said biting my lip and staring at the screen.

Raven nodded his head. “Good idea. Anything else?”

“We should send some wind elementars to supervise the zone and send us the signal when they are at the middle of the forest.” Sparky said when no one said a thing.

“Every wind elementar from this room has to go out and do what she said. Now. And take a earphone with you too.” Raven yelled at them and 10 persons walked out. “Next.”

“Well, a team should stay back here to protect the place when the others will go ahead and stop them from coming too close because it exists the risk to have some darks walking past us and get here.” I said and looked at Raven for approval.

“Good idea. Do you have another one? Or anyone else has another one?”

“Maybe we should set some traps for them. Like falling stone, trees.....” Sparky added and pointed at the middle of the forest. “We should put them here. Those traps will slow them down for some time.”

“I want all the earth elementars out there setting traps. Don’t forget the earphones!” Raven barked at them and more persons hurried out. “Now, how we organize the rides?”

I smirked. “It’s simple. Team B and C go first, A is the next and if they are so strong Alpha comes next. Or maybe we should hide and jump out when they aren’t expecting it. This way we will divide them in more little groups and they will be easier to be take down.”

Raven turned around and yelled “You heard her. Go at your places and we will communicate you if we have any changes.”

And with that everyone was gone except us. I turned around to face them.

“Come on guys! Let’s kill some darks!”

They all hollered in agreement and we run out of the room.

It’s time to have some fun.
