The Duty Of The Heir (Book 3): A Surprise Pregnancy Romance (The Heir’s Series 5)

The Duty Of The Heir (Book 3): Chapter 49

Presley Estates, Wesbury

It is close to midnight in Wesbury, at The Chateau, under the soft glow of light. Aisling’s naked body arches up to meet mine. She is wet, willing, and waiting, and I have been hot and hungry, not wanting to waste any time to make love to her.

I had seen the desire and hunger in her eyes and had been prepared for the long night ahead. I feel her hands on my hips, easing them apart, and she shut her eyes. Not long, I feel my impressive hardness slide deeper into her once forbidden place, and she almost loses her breath.

It had been weeks since we had made love, and I had craved this moment with her insanely. Above her, I take my time, moving with gentle expertise, and lengthening every stroke, savoring each and every thrust into her sacred place. I am whole and buried deep inside her, wishing we can stay like that for the rest of the night. The scent, the taste, and the feel of her engulfs me. No words could do the feeling justice.

The feeling is out of this world.

I have married my soulmate, and I am ready to pay any price to keep her.

Aisling tries not to groan as she rocks her hips up to meet each of my thrusts. She has managed to keep her composure, trying to hold back the blinding pleasure-pain feeling spiraling through her. We haven’t felt so intimately connected in weeks.

She looks away, probably shutting her mind to keep away the ache these passionate moments begins to bring her…

Enjoying the moment means everything to us now.

I am hers, no matter what.

In the aftermath, we lay entangled in each other’s arms, exhausted. For the longest time, neither of us speaks.

‘I’m… sorry,’ I finally break the long silence.

Without a word, Aisling turns her head away from me.

‘I shouldn’t have given in,’ I confess.

Tears roll out of the corners of her eyes onto her cheeks. She opens her mouth to talk but then shuts it.

‘I want you to know what happened, Aisling,’ I say softly.

‘Save it, Duke. I don’t want to know,’ she replies, her voice trembling.

‘It’s not what you think it is, Aisling.’

‘So keep it to yourself.’

‘Why won’t you listen to my story?’

‘Duke, please? Not now.’

‘Why? When?’

‘I don’t know because I don’t want to know.’

She rolls away from me to her side on the bed. She had been so giving and free with herself that night, and looking forward to an even brighter morning, she didn’t want me to wreck it for her.

‘Alright,’ I concede.

Before sunrise, I make love to her again, cherishing the intimate connection we shared, despite the unresolved issues that loomed between us.
