Chapter 273 The Boy Whom She Once Peeked

Ranita's spine stiffened. She lowered her eyelashes and pushed away Brendon's arm, silently putting on simple and comfortable home clothes.

"Are you... not angry anymore?" Brendon's voice was low, as if he knew he had gone too far this time.

In truth, Ranita didn't blame him. She blamed herself.

"I'm not angry." Pausing for a moment, she said, "You're busy with work and can't afford to waste time. Boatleigh Manor is so beautiful that it's really a pity you couldn't see it properly."

As for who he was with or what he was doing when he wasn't around, she didn't want to ask.

"Ranita... are you really not angry?" Brendon looked down with dark circles under his eyes. His handsome face looked tired and it was clear that he hadn't slept well.

"Really. Didn't you say I wouldn't care?" Ranita saw that his complexion wasn't good and pursed her lips saying, "Did you rest well?"

"Mm... I didn't sleep very well."

"Well then go rest now. I'll make something to eat and call you when it's ready." Ranita gently pushed Brendon while wearing the same expression as before.

Brendon made an affirmative sound without even changing his clothes before falling asleep immediately after lying down again. He must have been very tired.

A marriage among three people was indeed exhausting.

Ranita quietly made dinner and called Brendon up to eat together. They chatted casually before sleeping in each other's embrace

Ranita nestled in his arms listening to his heartbeat feeling both sourness and sweetness in her heart.

"Can't sleep?" asked Brendon squinting at her.

"What about you? Why aren't you sleeping?" After pausing for a moment she asked, "Can you stay here today?"

Ranita never thought that she would be so humble when reuniting with her husband at home but instead felt like the canary who had turned upside down despite being the one married to him all along.

"Sleep! Goodnight." Without answering back, Brendon held onto her while gently stroking her back.

The next day, early morning came around quickly as usual. Brendon went out again leaving behind Ranita who went over her professor's house bringing red wine. Her professor invited Vincent to come over resulting in them having lunch together happily.

While they were eating lunch together, Ranita received a phone call from Brendon who seemed quite anxious, "Ranita, where did you go? Aren't you at home?"

"Mm…I went out…what happened?" replied Ranita lightly.

Brendon felt like there was something off about Ranita's voice which sounded distant, cold, and detached, making him feel uneasy inside.

"I had someone send you the evening dress. You..." Brendon's words were cut off by Shannon's high-pitched voice in the background.

He was probably calling her to come eat.

"I got it. I'll go back soon. If it's someone trustworthy, just give them the password and leave the stuff at home," Ranita said.

After a few seconds of silence, Brendon spoke again, "Ranita, I'll explain everything to you later. Don't be angry."

"If I get angry, will you stay away from Shannon?" Ranita moved her lips but didn't say anything else except for a soft "Mm-hmm."

"Have a good meal. Bye."

Ranita didn't say anything and didn't want to think too much about it either.

But then she heard Shannon's sweet voice on the other end of the phone saying, "Brendon, who are you talking to? Come over quickly! We're going to try on dresses together..."

Click!

The phone hung up.

Ranita stood on the balcony in a daze and looked out at Kurima Foreign Studies University's library where ivy still grew lushly...

The bright sunlight made her eyes blur.

In that moment of confusion, Ranita seemed to see herself as a young girl many years ago hiding behind ivy leaves and secretly watching her beloved boy...
