The Divorcee Who Shines

Chapter 159 A Heart Of Stone

Chapter 159 A Heart of Stone

"Get some rest! I need to go back,” Brendon said as he picked up his phone. He had rushed back from Moon Mountain to be with Shannon, and now he felt a bit tired.

"Brendon, please... But I'm scared. Can't you stay with me?" Shannon bit her lip, her previously pale lips now showing signs of indentation. Her eyes looked misty and pitiable, a sight that was difficult to resist. Brendon glanced at his wristwatch.

It was already past 1 AM. Ranita should be asleep by now, right? Brendon thought about Ranita and found himself distracted.

"Brendon, please... I'm begging you. Can't you stay?" Shannon's voice quivered with desperation as she saw Brendon lost in thought. Her red- rimmed eyes became even more watery, and her pleading expression was irresistible.

Brendon pursed his lips and reached out to caress Shannon's head. "I'll make a call.”

He walked out to the balcony and checked his messages. There was no message or call from Ranita.

"This woman has a heart of stone,” Brendon thought.

"Are you asleep?" Brendon composed a message but deleted it. Ranita usually slept around 11 PM, so she probably wouldn't see the message at this time.

Brendon called Caleb. "Caleb, where are you?" He had called Caleb when he was on his way back to Kurima and asked him to go to Moon Mountain Resort. By now, Caleb should have arrived.

"I just got to Moon Mountain Resort. It's late, so I didn't want to disturb Miss Bowman. I'll contact her in the morning. How is it going on Miss Murphy's end?" Caleb inquired.

Brendon pursed his lips.

He said, "Shannon is stable, but we need to handle the media promptly. Other than that, there's nothing else.”

Brendon didn't like being talked about too much in public, so any news related to him would be dealt with.

“I've already had the PR department take care of it. But earlier, pictures of you and Miss Murphy entering the hospital were leaked by paparazzi. We can only try our best to handle it," he said.

"Okay, I understand. You can go rest now," Brendon replied with a nod. Standing on the balcony with his hair blowing in the wind, Brendon looked up at the beautiful moon and felt regretful that he couldn't share this moment with Ranita's charming features.

"Aliya!" Suddenly Shannon screamed out loud.

Brendon quickly rushed back inside where Shannon was sitting on the floor surrounded by broken glass from a shattered cup she dropped while trying to drink water.

“I'm sorry! It wasn't intentional! I just wanted some water but I lost my grip and fell,” Shannon sobbed softly as tears streamed down her face. “It's not your fault; it was just one glass that broke! Get up quickly before you get hurt by any of these shards!" Brendon reached out his hand to help her up and she leaned into him for support.

“Thank you so much Brendon. You're really too good to me!" She bit her lip trying hard not cry anymore then smiled sweetly at him saying, "No wonder why I've always liked you most since childhood days." Brendon ordered someone to clean up all the broken pieces from floor then turned back looking at Shannon who still stared at him pitifully asking, "Were you calling Ranita just now? Is she still awake this late?"
