Chapter Wakanda Powers?
AYSU
Aysu was unsure how it happened, but the moment she crossed her arms in front of her face to avert the effect of the incoming attack, the huge ball disappeared and the attacker fell to his knees.
It was when she dropped her arms that she realised that she was the one who prevented the attack. Though she wasn’t sure what she did, the way every other person in the room stared at her in awe made her aware that she supposedly did something amazing. So, with a small pout on her lips, Aysu got to her feet and approached Ximun who immediately reached for her hand, his concern about her safety written all over his face as he pulled her to his side.
Then, seconds later, he questioned the incapacitated attacker. “Who are you? Who sent you?”
With his head bowed, the man who was suffering from heavy pants, replied, “I came… on my own.”
Ximun scoffed. “Bullshit. Is this the doing of that Alpha King?”
Despite the subtleness of his question, it seemed most of the council members knew who Ximun was asking about, so they briefly filled the room with hushed tones and nods that made Aysu assume that they were also aware that the Tarmish Pack were trying to tag her a traitor.
“I…”
“Say that you came on your own once again and I’ll rip out your tongue myself,” Ximun warned, his arm now snaking Aysu’s waist to ensure that she was properly glued to his side.
‘Do we have to be this close?’ Aysu questioned his actions through their special connection.
‘Yes. Who knows what else will happen?’ Ximun maintained his fierce gaze on the man on the floor as he responded.
“Your majesty.” The High Seer who had rushed to a corner the moment the attacker stormed the room, came out of his hiding place and with a confidence he failed to possess earlier, he asked, “Is this coronation interrupted? Should we continue some other time?”
Aysu watched Ximun remove his hardened gaze from the intruder. That look didn’t falter when he stared at the High Seer and replied, “Why would it be interrupted? The Luna Queen-to-be just showed us why she is more than worthy to rule this pack. She just protected us all from the deadly attack this wolf just posed. So,” Ximun squared his shoulders. “let us proceed.”
Again, Aysu was unsure about what she did. So she questioned Ximun’s words.
‘Aren’t you sugarcoating what happened? I don’t think I did anything.’
‘But you did. I am stating the truth right now. You stopped that attack without much fuss.’
A frown appeared on her forehead. ‘I did?’
‘We will talk about that later. Let’s make you the Queen so that we can finally move in together. I have so many plans.’
‘Is that the only reason you want me to be Queen? Because you have plans?’ Aysu teased and the tip of his ears reddened a little in reaction.
‘Well, that’s partly the reason.’
While they discussed, some guards had already pinned the intruder to the ground and all that was left was for the Seer to continue the coronation.
So, Aysu was soon back on her knees, the Seer approaching her with a gold-coated sceptre while a woman who wasn’t noticeable before, appeared with the prettiest crown seated on a small pillow.
Once the Seer was in front of her, the top of the sceptre touched each side of her shoulders. And with a strong voice, the man began, “We are gathered here before wolves in the name of our great deity that watches over us. We are here to crown Miss Aysu of the Tarmish Pack, the beloved mate of Alpha Ximun O’Hara as the Luna Queen of our great Night Crimson Pack. May this crowning be accepted in the presence of our goddess.”
The crowd chanted a uniform response Aysu could not fully comprehend. And a couple of seconds later, a few more words that affirmed and supported the coronation were uttered and that went on until Aysu was made to repeat some words that assured everyone in the room that she would do a great job of leading and supporting the Alpha King.
Aysu, as she said those simple words, was a little confident because a part of her wondered if she would be able to do the things mentioned. But the moment Alora and the significantly stronger part of her mind assured her that she was more capable than she thought, Aysu slipped out of her worries and soon, she was admiring how light her crown was the moment it was placed on her head.
With the official coronation ended, Aysu got up and with pride beaming on her face and that of Ximun’s, she stood next to Ximun and relished how good that moment felt.
But that silently joyous moment was interrupted when the caged intruder began to snarl, his transition to his wolf brutal in a way that Aysu had never seen. Once that man transformed into his wolf, he sported very deadly eyes that seemed to threaten Aysu from a distance. Even though Aysu returned and maintained the gaze tabled in front of her, she could not shake off the vibe that the creature would be coming after her at some point.
But it seemed that day was not the moment. The creature, with impressive strength, was able to fling the men around him in different directions and soon, with hastiness, he broke the windows in the room as he raced out of the filled space.
“Alpha Ximun, should we go after him?”
“No. He will come back,” said the Alpha. “Then, we will deal with him. For now, let’s celebrate and welcome our Queen.”
“Woo!” A random shout filled the room and much applause followed.
Ximun looked at Aysu with a smile that showed how precious he found her on his lips, he said, “I am glad I met you, Aysu. Let’s make more memories together.”
Aysu returned the smile, though hers had a little intent behind it. She then asked, “How about we make some of those memories sooner than planned?”
“Is that what I am thinking?”
Aysu nodded. “Our new chamber should be ready by now, shouldn’t it?”
“It should.”
“We can hear Your Majesties,” a man informed the conversing couple. The man had a brow lifted as he planted a smile that suggested that he was a little flustered. “We can all hear you.”
“Oh,” Ximun said in realisation. The couple looked around and noted that everyone was quiet and had their eyes on them. But, as though those people didn’t matter, Ximun faced Aysu again and asked, “Should we leave now?”
Aysu who had been itching to feel more of his warmth nodded without hesitation. “Let’s leave.”
“Your Majesties, you just can’t-”
The duo failed to listen to the man who was trying to remind them of protocols. Arm-in-arm, Aysu and Ximun walked out of their room, their conversation not stopping.
Aysu said, “I still don’t know what I did earlier.”
The music in the second room made that moment feel like a scene in a romantic movie. That sensation made Aysu’s heart flutter and her brain and heart captured that moment for future reference.
Then, Ximun asked, “Are you talking about the attack?”
“Yes.” A sharp nod followed. And with a little bulge of her eyes, Aysu continued, “All I did was cross my arms and hope for the worst. I was even about to say my last prayer and wish.”
“Aysu,” Ximun’s voice suggested that he didn’t entirely believe her, “the moment you crossed your arms, a very strong force was produced and it was enough to quench the attack.”
“Huh.” Aysu searched the floor with her eyes. “Does this mean that I have Wakanda powers?”
“What kinda talk is that?” Ximun asked with a hilarious tone. Aysu got his subtle joke. It was funny. But the funniest part was Ximun’s voice.
So, as they walked, she laughed so hard that it almost became difficult to walk.
Ximun, on the other hand, admired her chaotic laughter that was already making her back ache. And while his wolf, Evalopus, appeared to remind him that it was almost time to meet her wolf, Ximun quietly confessed to Aysu.
‘Thank you, Aysu. For giving me the hope to live again.’
Aysu heard him, but she was yet to recover from her increasing laughter. So, while she tried to tackle that, they walked together while ensuring that the growing bond between them was no longer hidden.
