Chapter Impossible
EMILY KING POV
Running at full speed, I barge towards my room, panting.
Impossible.
It can’t be. I must’ve seen it wrong.
Someone like Trent couldn’t have done that to my parent. I can’t accept this.
How am I supposed to face my parent if they know I’ve found their killer but I kept silent about it?
How do I tell Blake that Trent, his best friend, was the one who murdered dad and mom?
He would never believe it! Neither Maddie! That means he will not believe Trent stabbed me.
Tears rolled down my face as I laugh hysterically.
Great! No one will believe a single word from my mouth.
“Aaargh!” I screamed.
Letting out the pain and frustration inside my chest.
Then, I sobbed.
Maybe I don’t belong to this family. Perhaps Blake had taken me to replace Belinda.
Perhaps, this is the truth.
What’s the point of living?
I’ve got no families to live for.
Nobody believes me and nobody will!
I jump out from my window before running at full speed to the cliff at the back of the castle.
I look down and saw endless darkness at the bottom of the cliff.
Prisoners were usually thrown down this cliff as a death sentence.
Maybe this is the best.
If I do this, perhaps, they’ll believe what I wanted to say.
Tears streamed out from my eyes as I frown.
Who will protect them then?
My body went limp thinking about this.
Bad move.
My body turns cold as my body falls down the abyss, fast. I close my eyes as I wait for the ground to take my life.
Darkness enveloped me within seconds.
“What do we do with her?” a man's voice asked.
“Shh! She’s sleeping,”
“I know, moron!” the second voice groan.
I open my eyes slowly, squinting, as I blinked a few times to clear the blurriness as two males faces came into my view.
One of them is standing while the other is sitting on a chair.
They exchanged a glance before looking back at me.
“How do you feel?”
The man with brown eyes, the one who is currently sitting on the chair, asked me.
“Who are you?”
Instead of answering, I asked back, furrowing my eyebrows. My body is aching, and it made me want to stay in bed badly.
“My name is Joel, and this is my friend, Marcus.”
“What happened?“ I asked, dumbfounded at the situation.
They both fell silent at the question, looking anywhere but me.
“You don’t remember?”
The guy who was standing, Marcus, asked with a confused look on his face.
I try to remember what had happened, but it all fall in vain. I can’t remember a single thing.
What the hell had happened to me?
I shake my head as their answers.
“Where did you come from? Joel said that you’ve been stabbed. What about the marks on your right shoulder? What-“ he was cut off by Joel.
“Moron! Stop it!”
Marcus heaved a sigh, annoyed, rolling his eyes before he left Joel and me alone in the room.
I can’t help but recalled Marcus question.
I’ve been stabbed, and I have a mark on my right shoulder?
Why would I get stabbed?
Why do I have a mark on my shoulder?
Why can’t I remember anything?
“Hey,” Joel sat at the end of the bed.
I tried to sit up and gasped at the agonizing pain in my chest.
Why does it hurt so much?
A groan burst out from my mouth. Joel stands up and helps me to sit on the bed, but I wanted to look at the mirror.
“I want to see myself,”
He sighed before helping me up to my feet and towards the mirror. I push down the strap of the worn-out dress. I gasped and look in horror at the sight in front of me.
How? Where did I get this? Who did this to me?
The scar, it looks ugly.
I turn to Joel in confusion, but he shakes his head, indicating he also doesn’t know about it.
“What’s your name?” He asked.
“Emily...I'm Emily...”
Joel helps me from falling onto the floor.
“My last name...I can't remember it...“
“It’s okay, Emily. We’ll help you out.“ he stated.
“Who are you guys?“
“I am the king of Reizn. Marcus is my best friend. We saw you fall off the cliff when we were hunting animals.“ he explained.
Falling off the cliff. Falling-
“Ahh!”
A flash of memory made me suck out a breath of air as pain shoots up through my brain. I grabbed a fistful of my hair, trying to stop it in vain.
Joel grabbed my hand to stop me from ripping my hair from my head. He put my head on his shoulder and stroke my head in a soothing manner. Like a miracle, the pain went away.
“There’s a ball dances at my friend’s kingdom. You’ve been out for a week. Would you like to go with me?” he asked.
I raise my head to stare into his eyes. I was still in a haze when I woke up and didn't notice his looks. He was absolutely hot as hell. My heart pounded on my ribcage as my face flush.
“Yes, of course.” I smiled.
“Good,” he kisses my forehead, making my face goes redder, feeling shy.
He chuckles, but it dies off when Marcus barge in all of a sudden.
“Good thing I came at the right time. I know you both are ready to make-”
“Moron! Shut up!” Joel kicks one of the chairs towards Marcus.
Marcus dodged it and frown.
“I am not a moron! You are,” he smirked.
“And you, stay away from my best friend,”
Marcus separated us both and grabbed Joel’s arm before rolling his eyes.
A small laugh escaped my mouth. Marcus frowned more as Joel joined me.
“Just...get ready for the ball dances. You both.” he glared at Joel and me before storming out of the room.
Joel high five with me still laughing at his best friend’s behaviour.
“I should go get ready now,” he said as he takes a step towards the door.
“Okay.”
It takes me a minute to search for the bathroom. This place is vast.
I take a shower and put my towels on before searching for a dress to wear in the walk-in closet. The room is fully equipped.
I don’t know who owns this room, and I don’t felt comfortable having to wear the person’s dresses without their consent.
Guess, wear first, talk later.
My eyes stared in awe at the sight of a blue dress. I grabbed the dress, wear it and slide my feet on the white high heels.
After making sure I’m appropriately dressed, I open the door and raise my eyebrows to see Joel with his back on me.
He turned around, and his mouth gaped wide upon seeing me with a surprising look on his face.
“Wow! You...y-you look... beautiful.” he stuttered making me chuckle.
“You too, Your high-”
“Just call me Joel.”
“Joel.” I smile as I place my hand on his.
"Let's have supper first."
