Chapter 1380
Dorothy, realizing she had no way out, snapped back in frustration.
"You have the nerve to say that? The one who brought me into this world, who raised me, is my mom! What does that have to do with you?"
"Bullshit! Could your mom have had you without me?! Don't forget, your last name is Smith!" Maxton spat out with disdain, "Ungrateful brat, denying your own father!"
She could tolerate him insulting her. But he had no right to say a word about her mother, Bella!
"Being a Smith is my life's shame! Why haven't I changed my last name, Maxton? You know damn well why - you were the one who wouldn't agree to it. After you cheated with Heather's mom, did you ever care about me and mom? I don't have a father. My father is long dead!"
She'd rather believe she was hatched from a stone!
Maxton, furious, raised his hand to strike-
Suddenly!
A strong hand grabbed his wrist and pushed, sending Maxton sprawling on the ground!
"Who the hell-"
He didn't finish his curse. Looking up, he saw Everett standing beside Dorothy.
"How did you come back?"
Dorothy was surprised too.
She had seen Everett drive away with her own eyes.
"Every time I drop you at work, I call your secretary two minutes later to make sure you've arrived safely. Just now, your secretary said you hadn't shown up, so I came back."
Thank goodness he did!
Otherwise, Dorothy didn't know how she would have gotten away.
"Oh, if it isn't my son-in-law?"
Maxton, feeling reckless, just sat on the ground and laughed, "I heard you're rich and you really love my daughter. How about you give your father-in-law a few million to spend?"
"Get lost." Everett shielded Dorothy behind him, glaring coldly at him.
"How can you talk to your father-in-law like that?"
Maxton attempted to stand up.
Everett turned his face slightly and gently tapped Dorothy's arm, "You're pregnant, don't stay here. Go upstairs."
He didn't want her to get hurt in case things escalated.
Dorothy was worried, knowing Maxton was a scoundrel. "I..."
"Don't you trust me?"
She pursed her lips and nodded, "Okay, just be careful."
Seeing Dorothy leaving, Maxton wasn't pleased and started shouting, "Having a man to back you up really makes a difference, huh! Haven't seen your dad for so long, and off you go?" His shouting attracted the attention of a few passersby.
Maxton got more excited and went
on telling those people, "My daughter here, she's fallen low, ran straight to the bed of the Lopez Corporation's CEO, slept with him, and even asked for money! Now she's living the high life, turned into the woman of the Lopez Corporation's CEO-"
He couldn't finish his sentence before Everett's fist solidly connected with his face!
Maxton, who had just gotten up, stumbled backward, crashing to the ground. Dorothy, seeing this, hurried back to the office to find security to help subdue him!
It wasn't that she was afraid Maxton would be beaten to death, but she was worried about implicating Everett.
Publicly assaulting someone, if reported, would certainly damage the reputation of the Lopez Corporation! And all because of a worthless man, it wasn't worth it.
"Ow... see that?! The CEO of the
Lopez Corporation, beating someone up in the street! He's going to kill me!" Maxton couldn't get up, his nose bleeding, making him look even more pitiful, "Is there nolaw anymore!"
