The CEO’s Hidden Love Midnight Temptations and Deep Desires

Chapter 1374

Langston was always one for a bit of excitement, spreading his arms in a shrug.

"Don't believe me? Ask Dad. Can he be sure if Mom's got a little brother or sister for us in there?"

Abigail immediately turned to Everett.

For once, he was at a loss for words.

It was true. There was no certainty.

Luckily, Dorothy stepped in to smooth things over. She patted her daughter's head gently and said in a soothing voice, "Abigail, if it's a sister, you two can share pretty dresses. And if it's a brother, he can join Langston in looking out for you. How great is that?" "Really?"

"Of course! You are the precious girl of the family. As the men of the house, your brothers would always protect you. Whatever you wish for, they'll try their best to give you!" Abigail was finally coming around to the idea of having another sibling, but just as Langston was about to add his two cents, Dorothy shot him a warning look.

"Are you looking to be grounded from your computer today?"

That hit a nerve. Langston could go a day without talking, but not a day without his computer.

Later that evening, after dinner, the family sat out in the yard for a bit before Everett went to tuck Abigail and Langston into bed.

He tiptoed out of the room once he thought the kids were asleep.

No sooner had Everett left than Abigail's eyes snapped open!

She sat up in bed, looked around to make sure Dad was really gone, and then scampered over to her brother's bed.

Of course, Langston wasn't asleep either!

He had a late-night session lined up with Byte 7 to check out a new system update. How could he possibly sleep? "Langston..."

Abigail's sudden whisper gave Langston quite the scare!

"Are you trying to give me a heart attack?"

He thought Dad had come back.

With a giggle, Abigail lifted his blanket and crawled in.

Her face looked troubled and worried, a stark contrast to her demeanor at dinner.

Langston finally tore his gaze away from his computer screen to look at her. "What's with that face? Someone bothering you?"

Abigail shook her head. "Langston.

Ondine in my class told me that ever since her mom had a baby brother, she doesn't cuddle or kiss her anymore! I'm scared..."

Usually, Langston would find such concerns annoyingly trivial.

Girls seemed to worry about the strangest things!

But today, he didn't find his sister annoying. Instead, he put aside his computer and moved closer to her.

With his still childish hands, he took

hers and patted it. "Don't worry. Ondine's parents aren't ours! Our Mom and Dad wouldn't do that."

"Really?"

"For sure! I promise."

Reassured by her brother's words, Abigail perked up, her smile returning.

"Will you always like me, Langston? Will you always protect me?"

"When have I ever not protected

you?" Langston, not the most patient soul, especially didn't understand

the delicacy of girl's feev

Abigail grinned.

"I knew you were the best, Langston!"

She leaned in, aiming to hug him and plant a kiss on him.

But Langston dodged!

"Why do you girls always want to kiss? It's so gross!"

He couldn't see the appeal.

"But I love you, Langston! I just want to show it!"

"Find a different way, how about a handshake next time?" Langston offered his hand.

Abigail pouted. "Langston, will you always dislike girls kissing you? Or is it just me you don't want kisses from?"

"I dislike anyone kissing me! I just hate it."

It was just too gross, leaving traces of saliva and all.

He really didn't get it. What was the point of all the kissing?
