Chapter 66
Chapter 66
She knew that Joshua was the only one with the power to quiet things down in an instant.
Obviously, someone was onto her, and Joshua stopped the dantage
Thankfully, everyone was saying that those photos were forged and not many people bought them. Joshua might not suspect her.
Plus, Joshua got nothing to do with Christy, she was only an employee of Joshua’s company.
So even if Gloria did smear her, it would have been but a mere trifle for him to notice.
Gloria believed that Joshua did care about her, even if he appeared cold.
She wanted to thank Joshua personally, but Terence, that damn assistant of his, kept ignoring her calls.
She dared not enter the Stellar Group.
Joshua warned her a few days ago that she was not to come anywhere near the Stellar Group without his permission
So she parked her car outside his company.
She knew that Joshua liked to lunch out at noon time.
He should be returning right about now.
She believed that if she stayed there, she might get to come across and thank him.
But Gloria did not get to meet Joshua. Instead, she saw Christy coming out of another man’s car. And a luxury car, at that.
Gloria flared up in an instant.
She thought to herself, ‘Christy Osborn, you are such a bitch. You gave birth to two bastards out there. And you’re still hooking up rich men after returning! What a whore.
How the hell did you and Joshua find your way up the trending topics?
A woman like you got no place around Joshua! Good thing it was just a rumor…”
Gloria told that to comfort herself.
As long as Joshua was single, she still got a shot.
Christy thought she could finally get some silence when she returned to the office. But after a while, Edith came to gloomily question her
“How did it go with Rence? She is okay with the design?”
“Yeah, Christy replied truthfully. “She said it was okay. We can go with that.”
As a matter of fact, Renee did indeed trust her, and did not have second thoughts.
Edith was astonished.
The last designer failed to meet Renee’s demands, even after more than a dozen alterations, and got so fed up with her that he quit.
Christy had only joined the company for a few days; there was no way Renee would accept the makeshift sketch she drew up in just an hour so easily.
Edith sneered. “Quite the efficiency you got! Meeting the client’s demands, hooking up with another rich man, and then riding back in his luxury car, all in a meal’s time. I’m impressed.”
She spoke as if she had tasted sour grapes.
“Edith, please be respectful. I didn’t hook up with anyone; that was just a friend,” said Christy gloomily.
“Respect for what? A homewrecker such as you?
“Your swollen mouth. Was that because you kissed a lot? Must have enjoyed yourself back in the car. A slut pretending to be well–behaved in front of me? Disgusting
“Sorry. You don’t deserve my respect. Edith left angrily.
Christy felt even worse after being scorned by Edith.
She touched her mouth, and it hurt.
She took out her mirror from her bag, and saw that it really did swell up.
Christy thought angrily to herself.
Chapter 66
“Dammit! It had to be that scumbag, Joshua. How will I show my face now that he got my lips all swelled up?”
Christy was focused on her work and hurried back, only to be made a laughingstock.
No wonder the female coworkers stared at and talked about her in disdain.
Her look was as good as saying, “I just hooked someone up.”
Joshua had his fun, but all the blame fell on Christy to bear. So unfair.
She would have quit had she not signed that ten–year contract with Joshua in order to pay off her 14 billion dollars in debts, and save her son.
She wasn’t a doormat. Why should she be the one getting stepped on?
Christy sought refuge in the bathroom, and fixed her makeup to cover up her swollen part. She looked into the mirror, unyielding.
She encouraged herself to hold on for her son. She would not let herself become some men’s property.
On the other hand, Renee, Christy’s aunt, kept asking about them.
Kellen was the executive of her husband’s company, and Christy was her niece, very well–paid at the Stellar Group. The two were like a match made in heaven.
Rence noticed it was well past lunchtime, and hurriedly called Kellen.
“Kellen, how did it go?” Renee asked hopefully.
Kellen felt embarrassed that he got shunned by Joshua.
He was ashamed of telling the truth and vaguely answered. “Ma’am, Your niece was quite a delightful lady. We had a decent time together.”
Renee chuckled. “That’s okay. If you like my niece, then go for it! You have my blessing.” She was glad to hear that things went well between them, and she thought herself becoming quite the matchmaker.
“I’ll try, ma’am. But I still have to hear what God has to say. A fine girl like Christy has to have a lot of suitors.” Kellen said
humbly.
But in truth, he was pretty nervous.
The rich man he saw back then was clearly one of Christy’s suitors.
Financially, that man had him outmatched.
Yet he was only lucky that he was born rich. Kellen believed his talents were unrivaled against such a spoiled brat.
They spent money like water and lived lives of luxury. Sooner or later, it would all end.
Unlike himself, who, given a few years, would definitely make something of himself, and climb right on top of these brats.
It took skills to stay on the market.
By then, those rich brats would look up to him, and he would have any women in the world, including a swan such as Christy.
Kellen did not give up on Christy; Joshua’s warning did not falter him.
It motivated him.
And now he got another clear goal to fight for; to become someone better than that brat, and win over Christy!
It was just a restaurant.
What was there to smug about less than 140 thousand dollars?
