Chapter 111
“What? There’s such a requirement?” Christy was baffled.
No wonder all the women entering the art exhibition were dressed like that!
Christy stood there, feeling completely out of place.
The security guard was just stating the rules, and his tone didn’t carry any contempt for Christy. However, some high–society women entering the venue weren’t as polite. Seeing Christy being refused entry, they sneered.
“Look at that woman. She dressed so poorly, and yet she has the nerve to come to an art exhibition? Is she crazy?”
Christy felt humiliated after hearing the laughter.
“Ma’am, if you don’t have an evening gown, you can go to the Galaxy Mall across the street to buy one. There’s still time,” the security guard kindly pointed Christy in the right direction.
Indeed, there was a high–end, luxurious shopping center nearby, with the words “Galaxy Mall” clearly visible from a distance.
“Fine! I’ll buy one!” Christy clenched her teeth.
Although she was frustrated, she had no choice but to comply with the rules to attend the art exhibition.
With no other option, Christy headed to the Galaxy Mall….
The place was truly upscale, with all the stores decorated in gold and filled with high–end brands. It felt incredibly expensive.
Christy went to the fifth floor clothing section and spotted a store selling evening gowns.
A mannequin at the entrance wore a beautiful burgundy evening gown, showcasing a woman’s graceful figure and elegant demeanor.
What a gorgeous dress!
Christy couldn’t help but enter the store to take a look.
The dresses here were not only elegantly designed and uniquely styled but were also handmade with top–quality fabrics. Some were even made of real silk, feeling incredibly soft and smooth to the touch.
They must feel comfortable and fit perfectly when worn.
All the store attendants were young, beautiful women dressed uniformly and wearing makeup.
As soon as Christy entered, the store manager noticed her.
Seeing Christy’s casual attire, the manager looked down on her.
Customers like Christy often tried on multiple dresses without making a purchase, simply enjoying the experience.
The manager impatiently said. “Our dresses are expensive. If you don’t plan on buying, don’t touch them. If you stain one. your monthly salary won’t be enough to cover it.”
Christy was annoyed by the comment!
“It’s just a dress. Who says I can’t afford it? What kind of attitude is that?” Christy was furious, as she hated people who looked down on others.
No matter how expensive the dress was, it couldn’t be more than a few hundred dollars, right?
Christy could afford that.
So, she checked the price tag on one of the dresses…
Whoa!
Christy’s expression froze instantly.
A random dress she picked up was priced at 9,000 dollars!
She almost thought she’d read two extra zeros, but after checking twice, it was indeed 9,000 dollars!
How could it be so expensive?
Seeing Christy’s dumbstruck expression, the manager laughed. “Didn’t I tell you? Our clothes are not for people like you. Everything you’re wearing doesn’t even add up to 80 dollars, does it?”
Christy’s face turned red with embarrassment.
Ever since she visited her best friend Victoria’s house and took her old clothes back, she stopped wearing the clothes Joshua

had prepared for her in her room.
Although the cloilies she wore weren’t expensive, they were made of good–quality fabric!
Was there really a need to look down on her like that?
Christy could afford it. After all, she was now making a hefty 60 thousand dollars a month.
But was it necessary to spend 9,000 dollars on a dress that would only be worn once or twice for special occasions?
She could do so much with that 9,000 dollars!
In short, she didn’t think it was worth it.
The store manager noticed Christy’s silence and thought she had hit a nerve. She scoffed and, without bothering to help Christy, walked away to attend to other customers.
A new saleswoman in the store noticed Christy being ignored and approached her warmly, saying with a smile,
“Miss, you have a great figure and presence. If you tried on one of our dresses, you’d look stunning. Why not give it a try?”
The young lady was beautiful and had a sweet voice, addressing Christy as “Miss,” which made Christy feel at ease.
The frustration from the manager’s mockery disappeared with the girl’s warm greeting.
Christy replied awkwardly, “Thank you! But the dress is really too expensive. I can’t afford it.”
The saleswoman responded enthusiastically. “Miss, it’s okay! You can still try it on even if you don’t buy it. Don’t you want to see how
you would look in a different style?”
The manager, standing at a distance, frowned at the girl’s words.
She didn’t understand the technique!
Christy clearly wouldn’t be spending money here.
Wasting time on her and letting her try on expensive clothes made no sense. What if she accidentally dirtied the dress? That would be trouble!
The manager planned to scold the newcomer later.
“Thanks for your kindness, but I shouldn’t try it on since I won’t be buying it. I don’t want to waste your time,” Christy said with a bitter smile.
The girl’s eyes showed a hint of disappointment, but her enthusiasm remained.
“Miss, it’s not a waste of time. I enjoy chatting with you! If you think the clothes here are expensive, we have a sale section. Look at that display case. Those are from last season and are now on sale at 90% off! Why not see if there’s something you like?” The girl suggested earnestly.
With such sweet words, Christy felt increasingly embarrassed.
She needed to leave before things became more awkward for her.
Had she known she needed an evening gown for the international art exhibition, she would have rented one yesterday!
Even the most expensive gown would only cost a few hundred dollars to rent for a couple of days!
Christy sighed.
Just then, a tall figure entered the store, drawing everyone’s attention.
Some female sales associates even exclaimed in awe.
“Oh my! Look at how handsome that man is!”
Christy raised an eyebrow, suddenly feeling a sense of unease.
What was with this familiar oppressive and cold atmosphere?
Turning around, she was speechless.
She had only been away for half a day and thought she could relax and escape her troubles. So why had Joshua appeared in her line of sight again?
Indeed, the person Christy saw was Joshua.
Today, Joshua wore a fashionable casual blue suit, with his tall figure and stunning features. He sported cool sunglasses, and a diamond–studded quartz watch, and radiated an elegant, noble air, looking just like a Hollywood leading male character.
