Chapter 105
Chapter 105
No, if things continued like this, she would lose her position in the Melendez family. She must find a way to get rid of Bob from Melendez Villa!
“Mister Leslie, let’s go quickly!” Bob held Leslie’s small hand and hurriedly walked towards the door, hoping that Leslie would be as far away from this woman as possible.
Leslie looked back at his mommy with tear–filled eyes.
Lacey glared at him filled with hatred.
Leslie’s tears fell down again, and his small body trembled with fear.
He remembered today, the happy day at the amusement park. He remembered Christy, how she held him warmly, allowed him to act spoiled, and even slept while hugging him. She was so doting on him.
His heart felt a sudden sense of desolation.
Leslie’s heart felt a wave of sadness. If only his mommy could show him a little more love, even just a little bit like Christy….
In the medical room.
Bob heated up a towel and helped Leslie apply it to his face.
Bob felt heartbroken seeing Leslie’s beautiful and cute face swollen from the beating by that heartless woman.
Bob was angry and said, “Mrs. Lacey Melenzdez is really too much! How can she treat you like this?” He continued, “No, I must tell Mr. Melendez about this, otherwise, this woman will become more and more arrogant!”
Upon hearing Bob’s words, Leslie quickly grabbed him and begged nervously, “Bob, please don’t tell Uncle about this! If Uncle finds out, he will be angry with Mommy!”
“Mister Leslie, but Mrs. Lacey Melenzdez hit you like this, I can’t bear to see that!” Bob’s eyes were red.
He was just a servant, but he had been serving the Melendez family for more than fifty years.
He had watched Leslie being born and struggling on the brink of death. Even the doctors had given up hope on Leslie’s survival, but Leslie had persisted and survived until now.
In Bob’s heart, he treated Leslie like his family.
This child, who had survived the torment of illness, was so precious. But how could Bob not be worried when Mrs. Lacey Melenzdez treated him badly?
“Bob, don’t worry. From now on, I will be a good and obedient child, not making my mom angry, and she won’t get mad at me anymore…” Leslie said with a smile while enduring the pain.
His smile was very pale..
It seemed that this child was determined to defend his mother no matter what.
If he went against Leslie’s wishes and let Mr. Melendez know about this, that woman would be very likely to be kicked out of the Penelope Castle.
Leslie probably also felt Mr. Melendez’s disgust and indifference towards Mrs. Lacey Melenzdez and did not want to lose his mother, so he was defending her in this way, right?
“Bob, I am begging you! You love me the most, can you please agree to my request?” Leslie pleaded with a pitiful look when Bob remained silent.
Finally, Bob gave in to Leslie’s request.
“Alright, I will agree this time, but if I see Mrs. Lacey Melenzdez hitting you again, I will definitely tell Mr. Melendez.” Bob had no choice but to give in to Leslie’s request.
“Thank you, Bob!” Leslie happily snuggled into Bob’s arms.
He had always regarded Bob as his family.
“Is there anywhere else you’re injured, Mister Leslie? Let me take a look,” Bob asked.
“Nothing more!” Leslie nervously laughed and shook his head.
Bob looked at Leslie with a gaze full of affection and compassion.
Leslie curled up in the cold blankets when he returned to his room.
However, his arm hurt a lot…
It hurt so much that he couldn’t sleep.

He pulled up his sleeve to take a look and saw a large bruise on his right arm.
This injury was much more severe than the one on his face, and he dared not tell Bob about it.
“If Bob sees it, he will definitely tell Uncle regardless of the consequences, Leslie thought to himself.
So, Mommy might be kicked out by Joshua….
Poor Leslie was still only thinking about his mommy’s feelings.
The blow from Lacey was delivered with all her might. How could Leslie’s frail body withstand it?
‘Leslie, you are a brave boy, be strong! Endure it!
Such injuries will heal on their own in a few days!
Leslie fell asleep in a daze while enduring the pain.
The next day, at kindergarten.
Leslie tried to act as if nothing had happened and went to school.
After resting for a night, the red mark on his face had disappeared, but his left cheek was still a bit swollen, making his face look slightly asymmetrical.
Upon seeing Alan, Leslie deliberately avoided eye contact.
His cautious expression was perceived as guilty by Alan.
“Leslie, what’s wrong?” Alan’s black eyes were fixed on him.
Leslie didn’t want to be caught by Alan, so he nervously lifted his head and smiled. “I’m fine!”
“Leslie, why is your face swollen?” Alan furrowed his eyebrows.
“Ah! I have water retention, and my face will swell if I don’t sleep well. You don’t have to worry about it!” Leslie explained with an embarrassed smile.
Edema constitution?
Alan was young but could not be easily fooled.
If Leslie had congenital heart defects and this type of constitution, wouldn’t he have already become a chubby person due to edema instead of being thin?
Moreover, did people with edema constitution only have swelling on one side of their face?
This was clearly a swollen injury caused by being beaten up!
Alan stared at him.
Feeling even more uneasy under Alan’s gaze, Leslie broke out in a cold sweat on his forehead.
Leslie was an honest person and didn’t even know how to lie. Whenever he told a tall tale, he would become nervous.
Alan had long had a thorough understanding of Leslie’s personality.
What was he hiding from himself after all?
Alan pretended to be indifferent, quietly observing Leslie without showing any emotions.
There was a reading class in the morning, and everyone could borrow their favorite books from the library. Alan remembered that Leslie was not left–handed, but he had been using his left hand to turn pages today.
He drank water with his left hand, ate with his left hand, and hardly used his right hand at all. His right hand seemed to have no desire to move at all, and even when it was still, his awkward movements made it seem like he didn’t know where to put his right hand
Leslie was normally introverted, but today he was even more reticent, and he was not paying attention to his surroundings while walking. He accidentally bumped into a female classmate coming towards him.
It was just a light bump, nothing serious.
Although it was just a light collision, Leslie’s face turned pale instantly and he looked like he was in pain. He also covered his mouth as if he was trying to endure something.
Alan furrowed his eyebrows again.
Not just the face, even his right arm had a problem!
In the afternoon, there was a physical education class, and Leslie sat quietly under the tree as usual.
As he watched his classmates run in the sunshine, Leslie could only envy them. After all, he wasn’t strong enough due to his
weak heart.
However, he never felt sorry for himself.
His goal was just to live on, and that way his mom, Joshua, and Bob would feel comforted in their hearts.
Being unable to do intense exercise, he would just quietly read a book.
Today, the book he was reading was “Robinson Crusoe“.
It was a literary classic.
It might be because of his weak physical condition that he couldn’t travel far, Leslie was particularly interested in books about adventures. Through literature, he could imagine the wonderful world outside.
