Isabella
gave out a loud, raucous laugh. It was clear that she was trying to poke fun at me and the situation. She thought it was amusing.
“Tell me, is that how Dominic made you? Acting like you’re some important figure when obviously you’re nothing but his puppet.”
I couldn’t help but roll my eyes and cross my arms, giving Isabella a patronizing smile. I had seen her feeble attempt from a mile away and there was no way it was going to work on me. She looked like an absolute fool and she must have been out of her mind if she thought that such a ridiculous ploy would actually work on me.
“Ah, I see you’ve mastered the art of projection. But at least I’m a puppet with strings attached to something worthwhile.”
She paused for a moment, an arrogant smirk now forming on her face. “At least I know that I can hold my own,” she said smugly. “Money? Business? Corporate dealings? All taken care of. Unlike you who needs to hold unto something. There was an unmistakable pride in her voice as she spoke, the kind that only comes from knowing you’ve accomplished something meaningful and worthwhile.
“Then good for you.”
I slowly and steadily raised my hands in front of her face, ignoring the backhand statement she’s trying to throw.
“Good for you, sweetheart.” I smiled before turning around, ready to end the conversation and head back towards Dominic. But as soon as I had taken a few steps, I felt a hand grip my arm with an almost painful force and tug me back.
“Hear me loud and clear, you worthless scum. Our family will use every means necessary to seize your children. They rightfully belong to us, not some low–life filth like you. You’d better watch every step you take, because if you cross us even once, we won’t hesitate to come after what’s ours. Don’t test our patience, consider yourself warned.”
I was aware of the possibility that she would bring up my children, but still, I felt something inside me snap.
“I won’t let you drag our name through the mud any further. The twins are better off without you.”
Her grip on my arm tightened to the point her nails were digging painfully into my skin. She couldn’t stop snickering at me since I am not saying anything.
She seemed to think that she had already won this conversation. What she didn’t

I pushed her away, with such force that her grip on my arm loosened and she stumbled back. I threw my head back, letting my hair fly dramatically behind me as I took a step forwards towards her. With a look, I crossed my arms to emphasize the space between

“You may be a Blackwood, but that doesn’t mean you can escape the shame of your amily’s reputation. It’s terrible to think that you have to bear this burden of such shameful and dishonorable standing.”
“How dare you!–”
I was ready to feel her hand against my face when I grabbed her wrist just in time. I sighed heavily and then stared into her eyes with ferocity.
This time, my usual playful attitude was gone, it had been replaced by something more serious. My stare was intense, so much so that she could almost feel the sheer force of my concentration on her alone, as if she wouldn’t see another sunrise ever again..
“I won’t hand over my children to your family. I’ll go to great lengths to protect them from you, Isabella. Remember this, I’m not intimidated by you or your family, unlike the last time we crossed paths”
I reluctantly let go of her hand and took a step back. I was relieved that the lobby was empty. If anyone had overheard us, it would have revealed the Blackwood empire’s secrets, but I didn’t mind.
“Good night.”
Then I slowly spun around, leaving her standing there with a look of utter astonishment and disbelief on her face. But the moment I started to walk away from her, I couldn’t help but clench my fist as all the memories came rushing back.
I could remember all the moments when I was made to stay quiet in spite of the wrongness around me. When I wanted to take a stand, but decided against it because of the consequences that might arise.
All the insults and disrespect they gave me right from the moment we got married, her and his two other sisters making fun of Damon for choosing to marry me. For so many years I stayed determined despite all the pain and crushing disappointments, putting up with his family’s maligning words. Everywhere I went I was looked down upon, as if his marriage was a mistake they could all see clearly about me.
But right now, I had enough with all of it.

I was suddenly pulled out of my thoughts when I heard a voice, and I saw Dominic in front of me. His hands were linked with mine, his eyes looking deeply into mine. I hadn’t noticed he was right there until now. His being there made me grin and brought me back to reality.
“I’m sorry, I was just so tired and hungry that I didn’t notice you were finished.”
He chuckled and then took my hand, placing a gentle k*ss on the back of it. “No need to apologize, my dear. Let’s go grab something to eat, and then we can enjoy the night with the kids. We did promise them. remember!”
I smiled at him and that was our cue to make our exit. This time. I didn’t chance a glance back from the event, but I could still feel the piercing glares of several people watching me leave.
But I no longer care about their words, I am not scared of them anymore. They can insult me, throw things at me and even threaten me, none of it phases me now.
I refuse to take the injustices and pain his family has inflicted on me. I will not lay low and accept their harshness any longer.
As promised, Dominic stopped in front of a restaurant, ordering a plentiful amount of food for me and for the kids before heading home. The kids were overjoyed when they received their meals.
We then celebrated this family night by playing together and watching movies afterwards. It was as if we were able to forget all our troubles, focusing on the present moment that will stay in our memories forever.
“I’m going to catch you!”
I stopped in my tracks as I took in the scene before me. Dominic was running around. clad in his pajamas. chasing after the twins who were both attempting to build a castle. made of throw pillows. Despite their chaotic behavior, a smile spread across my face and my heart suddenly filled with warmth. Seeing this sweet moment between them. brought back fond memories of when they were all younger and happier.
This is an experience I never had when I was living with Damon’s family. But now, I’m grateful that I have a home with people who love me and have never made me feel like an outsider. This is something that will never change, no matter how much time passes.
And soon enough, the night ended and everyone went to bed with happy hearts filled with joy and contentment.
“Good night, my darlings, I whispered, k*ssing the twins‘ foreheads before tucking

them in.
“Good night, Mommy,” they said in unison, and I couldn’t help but laugh.

“Let’s go to bed now, honey,” Dominic whispered behind me. I nodded, stood up, and closed the door behind us.
We slowly made our way to the room, and as soon as the door shut behind us Dominic had me pushed up against the wall. His actions were so sudden that I barely had time to comprehend what was happening before his l*ps were hard–on mine. He pressed. forward with an urgency that suggested this wasn’t our first k*ss, yet it felt completely new and exciting all at once. My heart began to race and I could feel my palms sweat in anticipation of what might come next.
“Let me guess, you’ve been thinking of making love with me, haven’t you?” I couldn’t help but laugh when he abruptly pulled away from the embrace and started to re–dress himself.
“Oh, honey. You couldn’t know how badly I wanted us to make love earlier today. We should have snuck away in the bathroom.”
I slap his chest, “I’m all yours now.”
He k*ssed me once again and this time we kept going until we found ourselves on the bed. Dominic’s hands found their way all over my b*dy with delicate strokes, teasing me until I was sure I’d melt in his arms. His touch filled me with a warmth that penetrated through to my very core. It seemed like something more than physical attraction, it was as if he could read into my deepest desires and fulfill each one with just a few words or gestures.
Every inch of my b*dy seemed to come alive. His k*sses and caresses felt like divine worship, sending me into a trance–like state as I moaned his name and arched my back in pleasure with each k*ss. His fingertips grazed over my skin, leaving trails of tingling fire along their path. Every nerve in my b*dy was on alert, quivering in anticipation as he touched me ever so lightly. My heart raced faster with each passing moment, begging for more of the sensations.
“Dominic! That feels so good…”
I moaned with even more pleasure when his tongue made its way down to my stomach. He continued slowly, further and further until he reachedsitive area between my legs. The moment my eyes closed, an image of Damon appeared in my mind.
“No!”
