Chapter 14
Chapter 14
I gasped in surprise as our gazes met. His eyes seemed to carry a multitude of meanings, as if harboring many hidden secrets. I gritted my teeth in annoyance. because he was so close to me. What kind of stunt was he pulling now?!
“Back off!”
“Try screaming if you don’t want me to drag you out against your will.”
I raised an eyebrow but lowered my voice a bit because I didn’t want him to actually pull me out of here. “What do you want? Can’t you just let me go, Damon?”
He grinned, “Do you think it’s that easy for me to let you go after seeing how you flirt openly with Dominic in front of me?”
I was confused by his words. What does he want to happen?! “What are you talking about? Why do you even care if we’re flirting in front of you? We’ve been over for a long time, Damon! I’ve cut our connection years ago.”
His eyebrows furrowed, as if he didn’t like what I said. I was surprised when he gritted. his jaw and pulled me even closer to him. I could clearly smell his breath hitting my skin. I cursed in my mind several times. I wanted to push him a
away. I restrained myself, afraid that he might do something I wouldn’t like.
“Whether you like it or not, Serena, we still have a connection. You’re the mother of my
children, and my children are with you.
The anger flared up again in my system when he mentioned the twins, “Can you please, Damon, never mention my children. It’s better that they’re not under your family’s custody, who knows what your despicable family might do to them. So, can you let me go, and I need to go to Dominic.”
I pushed him with force but not strong enough that would make him lose his balance and was about to turn away when he held me again by the wrist. However, I froze at his question.
“What will you do if I really do everything now to make you mine again?”
My brow furrowed, but I didn’t look at him. It felt like there was a subtle stirring of emotions deep within me that suddenly surfaced. Faint and subtle, yet I could feel it. I bit my tongue and dismissed this feeling from my mind.
“Do you think I’d believe you?”
“No,” he promptly replied, and I couldn’t help but smirk.
Chapter 11
“You already know the answer, so don’t bother.”
I took a step forward, fully prepared to leave this time, but he stopped me again. He turned me around until our gazes were hidden.
“What if I tell you that I can defy my family just to bring back what we had?”
I paused at his words. In an instant, memories of the past flooded back, things I wanted to forget. I closed my eyes tightly and struggled to calm myself, recalling how I once begged him to stand up for me against his family.
After a moment, I burst into laughter. “You know, Damon, stop joking. None of what you’re saying is amusing. You? Can you rebel against your family? Not once before. could you defend me to them, and even now, you’re still their puppet.”
I shook my head, “And don’t waste any more time trying to resurrect the past. What
more can we gain from each other Past is the past. I have Dominic now, who loves
me wholeheartedly and is willing to do anything for me. And you? I saw you with a woman earlier. Spend your time on her, not on me.”
I turned away from him without waiting for his response. This time, his grip on my arm had loosened, so I knew he couldn’t stop me. But before I left, I paused and glanced back at him over my shoulder.
“Also, if you’re thinking that we’re still married and that’s why you have a connection to me, well, you’re wrong. Your family didn’t take our marriage seriously, and I have no idea if it’s even legally binding because I didn’t sign anything. So, leave me alone,
Damon.”
I breathed a sigh of relief when he didn’t stop me. I returned to our table in the maint dining area with my head held high, but for some unknown reason, every step felt heavy. It was as if I was struggling to breathe. I bit my tongue and absentmindedly returned to our table when someone suddenly spoke beside me.
“Hey, are you okay now? Why did you take so long in the bathroom? What happened?”
I snapped back to reality when I realized it was Dominic who spoke. I looked at him. and nodded, “I’m okay. I’m sorry, love. I just don’t feel well, I feel a bit dizzy.”
He nodded and stood up to assist me, “It’s okay. We can go home now. I’ve already paid. for the meal so you can rest.”
I couldn’t help but smile softly as I looked at Dominic. I don’t know what I would do without him in my life. I might be in the trash right now, crawling through life.
We prepared to leave the restaurant. In the few years we’ve been here, this was the first. time I didn’t enjoy eating. The food was delicious, that couldn’t be denied.

However, their new customer ruined my day.
Dominic opened the car door for me, and I was about to enter when I glanced back at the restaurant. From the corner of my eye, I saw Damon and the woman leaving. He. looked in my direction, but I quickly looked away and entered the car.
The entire journey felt like I was out of myself. Damon’s words kept playing repeatedly in my mind, words I knew were unbelievable. I could sense Dominic looking at me, wanting to ask, but he held back.
I opened my eyes, realizing I’d been keeping them closed since earlier. I turned to Dominic and said, “Dominic, there’s something I want to tell you.”
“Hmm? What is it?”
I placed my hand on his that was holding the steering wheel and caressed it, “I’m sorry for today. I know every time we eat out, you always prepare for it. But today, I feel like I fell short because my attention is scattered everywhere. I’m really sorry, and you might think that I don’t care-”
“I’m not thinking anything like that, honey. Don’t worry about it.”
I paused as he abruptly cut off what I was saying: He looked at me and planted a k*ss on me before returning his attention to the road.
“I understand because it’s really tiring to work, and then someone bothers you. Trust me, I’ve been through that in my years in the field, so it’s okay to take a break for today. I’ll tell your secretary to send everything you need to read to your email.”
He’s so understanding that I feel like I don’t deserve him. I leaned over and k*ssed him. on the cheek. Later, I’ll make it up to him.
“I love you…”
“I love you too.”
When we arrived home, just like Dominic suggested, I immediately rested. I don’t know. why I’m so affected today by everything that happened, especially whenever he crosses.
mind and when I remember what he said.

While lying down on the bed, I just scrolled through my email, checking the things. Cecilia has sent me. For now, there’s nothing too important. All my appointments for today are canceled, and I’ll continue them on the next day.
“How are you, honey?”
I looked at Dominic as he sat beside me on the bed.

Chapter 14
“I’m fine, just checking my emails.”
I was surprised when he suddenly snatched my phone and leaned over me. I gasped in surprise, but then laughed when he k*ssed the sensitive part of my n*eck.
“I told you to rest. You can check those tomorrow?
“But-”
Before I had even finished speaking, he k*ssed me again, this time his k*sses were more passionate and insistent. His l*ps moved over mine with a deep hunger that startled me. The warmth of his skin radiating against my own caused a tingling sensation to course through my b*dy.
His hands remained on my hips as he k*ssed me. The events unfolded so quickly. I’m used to doing this with Dominic frequently, but I don’t know why now I feel like I’m not in the mood. I try to pull my l*ps away to breathe, but he’s chasing them.
“Wait! By the way, what happened to the twins? Were they picked up?”
“Don’t worry, they’ve been picked up.” he whispered against my l*ps.
I closed my eyes as he k*ssed me again. This time, he was caressing his b*dy against. mine. I tried to succumb to the sensuality, but no matter what I did, I felt like I just wanted to lie next to him and do nothing.
“Dominic, wait-
“Hmm? What is it, baby?”
“I can’t breathe. Can we continue this later?”
“Hmm? Don’t you like it?”
“I do, but-”
“But what?!”
I was surprised when his voice slightly raised. Before I could say anything, he suddenly sat up, took a deep breath, and ran his fingers along the tip of his nose.
“Look, I know you’re tired, and I’ve been trying to make you happy, but right now, I can feel that you’re losing interest in me.”
I blinked several times, feeling a sudden fear as he raised his voice. It may not have been a loud shout, but the usual tenderness in his words disappeared. It was clear that he had reached his limit.
Chapter 11
“Isn’t what I’m doing enough for you? I’ve been trying to understand you all day, but it seems like nothing I do is having any effect.
“D–Dominic-”
“I’m sorry, but I’ll sleep in another room tonight. I just need some time alone.”
Before I could even explain myself, he left the room, leaving me alone, bewildered, and unable to believe how quickly things had turned.
