My temper was rising as I stared at him. I glanced over at Cecilia, asking with my eyes. for her to explain the situation, but she looked just as confused as me. She shook her head slightly, unable to fathom why he was here in front of us.
It’s clear that she had no clue about his presence and I couldn’t help but feel a sense of apprehension in the air.
“Can your secretary leave us?” He didn’t answer me. Instead, he shot my secretary a sidelong glance, signaling for her to leave so that the two of us could have a private
conversation.
“O–okay, sir-” Cecilia was about to leave when I grabbed her arm and gave her a stern look, communicating to her that she should remain where she was. She quivered as I kept my hand firmly around her slender wrist.
“You will not listen to him, you are my secretary and you will only listen to me, understand?” Before she could give answer or voice her opinion, I shifted my gaze towards Damon and gave him a menacing look.
He had gone too far. He thought he could bully his way to getting whatever he wanted but I am not going to accept it. His arrogance had grown too powerful and my anger flared, refusing to be silenced by him any longer.
“You are not welcome here and from now on, you are forbidden to enter this company. So I expect you to stand up and make your way out of this company immediately or else I’ll have no choice but to call the security guards. My tone was demanding, my eyes unflinching as I awaited his response.
Damon stared at me, his eyes were emotionless. A few minutes of silence hung in the air when he seemed to consider his options before sighing in defeat and standing up from his chair. He took a few steps towards the door. I remove my hands on Cecilia then cross them, smiling in victory.
However, my smile quickly disappeared when he made his way instead to the water. dispenser, pouring himself a cup of cool water before downing it in one gulp.
What the hell!
“Refreshing…”
My brows furrowed; he left me with no choice.
“Cecilia, call the security downstairs.”
“Now, Ma’am?”

“Yes.”
“A–are you sure? You want me to left you here with-”
“I said now!”
I was fuming and without hesitation I waved my arm towards the door and Cecilia ran out. It was just Damon and me left in the office to call for security. Trying to keep it together, I glanced at Damon who had his eyes fixed on the cup he was fl*pping around in his hands.
A deafening silence filled the room until he slowly removed his gaze from me and stared up. There was no fear in his eyes, just a sort of egotistical assurance.
“So, you own a company now, huh?”
“Let’s cut to the chase, why are you here? Is it because you’re the investor that my secretary was speaking of? Well, let me be crystal clear. I won’t allow you to acquire any stocks in my portfolio.”
My voice was firm and unwavering: I meant every word I said. There was no negotiation when it came to who held shares in my business. I had no qualms about blocking anyone from investing with me. I wanted everyone to know that they were not welcome unless they met my exacting standards.
But as for him? There are no standards for him. He’s banned, blocked, and will never set foot here again.
He released a deep sigh before turning his b*dy towards me. I kept my chin held high, watching as he walked the short distance to stand just inches away from me. If I took a step back, it would be an act of submission, something I refused to do.
Instead, I stood my ground. His intense gaze made my brow raise in question. I keep my cool and maintain eye contact throughout our silent conversation.
He’s the one invading my property, not me.
“Why would I want to invest in a company that can never even begin to live up to my standards? You may be doing well, but you’re still far from the top, Serena. Remember
that.”
My eye twitch and I felt something stab but I shake the feeling away. Instead, I smiled. then tilt my head to the side.
“Watch out, I don’t invest in products that live off their reputation, not innovation. Quality is more than just being at the ‘top. it’s about staying relevant. Remember that.”
“Your company is limited in its focus, while mine is inclusive. Being relevant means

I froze, the anger and rage boiling up inside me making it hard to breathe. I clenched. my jaw, furrowing my brows in a tight line as I spat out my words. “Get out before I do something you’ll regret for the rest of your life, Damon.”
He laughed and playfully lowered his head to align our faces, as he is considerably taller than me.
“You couldn’t come up with a comeback after realizing it, could you? Anyway, I’m here. because my sister told me to come.”
“Sister? Which one of your delightful sisters?” I smiled when I noticed his eye twitch at the tongue–in–cheek remark.
“Charlotte.”
“What does she want?”
“My sister has always had a passion for cosmetics and beauty products, having been involved in the industry for many years. When she heard about your cosmetic line she was immediately intrigued. Since we have a history together and she wanted to take this opportunity to not only invest but also become one of the stockholders too.”
After Damon explained there was a long hush that enveloped the office. I had to sit there for a few moments in order to take in what he had said. Eventually, I couldn’t contain myself and I burst out, laughing. I couldn’t help it at the absurdity of his words. My stomach hurt from all the laughter and it took me a few moments before I calmed down. Gradually, the tension faded away and my amusement subsided.
“Charlotte? The one who used to mercilessly insult me every time I was putting on make up? Who called me ugly and laughed at how hideous I was every single day? She wants to invest in me now? What an outrageous joke. But either way, the door is right there if you want to leave.”
I spun
around, disbelief. I can’t believe this is happening. It all seems like a bad dream that I just want to wake up from. His face fills me with disgust and loathing, it would be a waste of time for me to even look at him. And Cecilia, where is she? I had asked her to call the guards as soon as possible but she’s still taking too long!
But before I could take another step forward, there was a firm grip on my wrist and suddenly I found myself whirled around to face him. Our l*ps were just an inch apart. from each other and everything was happening so quickly. His eyes met mine and for a moment, the world around us stopped moving.
“What the?–”

I groaned and gritted my teeth, feeling a combination of discomfort and exhilaration as he leaned in close. His b*dy was almost pressed up against mine, pinning me to the table beneath us. His cologne was a mixture of fresh mint and musky masculinity, floating around me like a pleasant cloud. I could feel his breath on my face as he spoke. with threat into my l*ps.
“Let go of me, Damon, or I will tell Dominic about this.”
The moment I uttered that name, his eyes turned darker, reflecting the internal anguish he was feeling.
I gasped in surprise when he suddenly pushed me down onto the table and pinned me in place between his legs. His actions startled me and caused my heart to race with fear.
“What are you doing?!”
“Do you think I’m scared of him, Serena? You made the wrong choice by choosing him. over me. You have no idea just how powerful I am in comparison with that low
Teature.
I felt like I was deafened by anger when he insulted Dominic right in front of me. I was about to scream when he suddenly covered my mouth and held both of my hands with the other, leaving me unable to fight back!
I wriggled and squirmed, but no matter what I did, he was just too powerful. To my shock and horror, he then used his strength to spread my legs apart while I lay there on the table. My skirt had been pulled up during this struggle, exposing parts of me that should have never seen the light of day. All of a sudden I felt vulnerable and exposed. two emotions that filled me with dread.
“You think Dominic is better, right? I bet he’s just using you to get to me. I’m not so naive to believe he knows anything about our relationship, Serena, But whether or not he does, you’re trapped with me because you’re caging my children with you!”
I panicked as he suddenly leaned in, bringing his face dangerously close to mine. Fear ran through my veins as I desperately tried to kick him and push him away with my feet. But his strength was too much, I felt powerless against him.
Everything around me seemed to move in slow motion and all I could do was watch it unfold before me, unable to break away from the grip of fear that had taken hold of
- me.
“I will do whatever it takes to take you and my children away from that bastard, Serena.”
