Chapter MISTAKE 138
Chapter 138: Truth
"Helen, your daughter is the one reason the Rosario family is enemies with the dark hand. They had your daughter killed because someone wanted to get this evidence into your hands," Ray said. The grea
The great attorney general's daughter had married into the Mafia. This was something very few knew. When she died, he had thought life had caught up with her.

"Are you saying that the reason the Rosario family and the dark hands are enemies is because they killed Helen?" he asked. From the look on his face, he clearly aged several decades.
"That drive is merely the tip of the iceberg. He has operatives placed throughout the government and throughout law enforcement. He has the entire government working as goons. The country is corrupt. Marcus felt a headache building behind his eyes. "What do you want?"

"I am a law-abiding citizen, Marcus. I want justice," Ray said simply, and Marcus raised a brow.
"What do you really want?" he asked.
"I want drama. I want a show to capture the entire country, to capture the entire world. I want to make him a star," Ray said.
Silence fell over the office as Marcus weighed his options. If the information is that bad, the country would become a joke. Chapy - the Truth
"I'll need time to verify this information," Marcus said finally.

Ray stood at that moment. "Verify? He has my entire family on lockdown just to capture my granddaughter-in-law. The amount of chaos he is creating right now is evidence enough Ray said, straightening his suit. Marcus thought about it. He could strike while the president was distracted. While he was causing chaos.
Ray's words hung in the air as Shaw made his way to the door. He paused with his hand on the handle and turned back to Marcus.
"Oh, and Mr. Attorney General? I trust I don't need to tell you to keep this conversation between us. It would be a shame if anything were to happen to my plans at this stage."
Before Marcus could respond, Shaw was gone, leaving nothing but the USB drive and the lingering scent of expensive cologne.
Marcus slumped in his chair, his mind reeling. In the span of a few minutes, his entire world, had been turned upside down. He stared at the innocent-looking USB drive on his desk, knowing that its contents could cause chaos in the country. With a shaking hand, he reached for the bottom drawer of his desk, withdrawing a bottle of scotch and a glass.
The late afternoon sun cast long shadows across the manicured lawns of the Rose mansion, its warm light filtering through the floor-to-ceiling windows of the spacious living room.
Anya sat on the edge of a plush white sofa, her dark eyes fixed on Henry, who lay sprawled on the Persian rug, doing his homework with intense concentration.

a restless rhythm against the arm of the sofa. Something felt off today-a tension in the air that she couldn't quite place.
"Aunt," Henry's voice cut through Anya's thoughts. Anya froze when she heard him call her aunt. She could not get used to it. The little boy looked up from his home work. "What does Uncle do for a living?!! Anya raised a brow at this.
Anya knew that Henry barely spoke, so she was excited to answer. "That's... your uncle is a businessman," she answered.
Henry was silent a bit, then nodded and returned to his homework. Anya's gaze drifted to the ornate grandfather clock in the corner. Daniel was late. He'd promised to be home for dinner, but the hands of the clock inched closer to evening with no sign of him. The sudden sound of car tires crunching on gravel outside made Anya stiffen. It wasn't the familiar sound of Daniel's Bentley, but something else-multiple cars, by the sound of it.
"Henry, sweetheart," Anya said, keeping her voice calm despite the alarm bells ringing in her head. "Why don't you go up to your room and pick out a book for us to read later?" Henry looked for him?"
up, his brow frowning slightly. "But Uncle is coming home soon. Can't we wait
Anya forced a smile. "Of course, but it might be a little while. Go on now; I'll call you when he's here."
As Henry reluctantly made his way upstairs, Anya moved swiftly to the window, looking out from behind the heavy curtains.
Her breath caught in her throat at the sight of three black SUVS parked in the circular

driveway, their tinted windows hiding those inside the cars.
The front door opened, and Anya heard the muffled voice of the butler, engaged in what sounded like a heated discussion.
Did something happen? She did not think she was in danger. The rose mansion was covered with guards. The men in the cars made her think something happened to Daniel.
The door swung open, revealing the butler's worried face, making her even more worried.
"Mrs. Shaw," he said, his voice strained. "There are gentlemen here to see you. They are Master Justin's men and say it's urgent.
"Let him in," Anya instructed, and the butler nodded and opened the door for the

"Mrs. Shaw," he said, his tone professional but filled with urgency. "I apologize for the intrusion, but we need you to come with us immediately."
Anya's eyes narrowed. "And who exactly are you?"
The man reached slowly into his jacket, producing a leather wallet. He flipped it open, revealing a gold badge and ID card. "Michael Corvino, attorney at law. I represent your husband's cousin, Justin Shaw." Anya frowned when she heard this. Her guard remained up. Justin was Daniel's most trusted ally within the family, but that didn't mean this wasn't some kind of trick.
"What does Justin want with me?" she asked, her voice cool and controlled.
Corvino glanced at the maids, who were still in the room. "Perhaps we could speak privately,
Mrs. Shaw?"
With a slight nod from Anya, the butler led them out, closing the door behind him. As soon as they were alone, Corvino's behavior shifted, becoming more urgent.
"Mrs. Shaw, I'm here as part of an extraction team. We have reason to believe that you and your daughter are in immediate danger. Justin has ordered us to move you to a secure location.
