Chapter 35
"A young guy that didn't look strikingly handsome," he said in a deep voice, but the guy's fighting skills were pretty decent.
"A guy?"
Patrina remembered that Brittany was already married, but her husband was still under wraps.
"What does the guy look like?"
"I couldn't see clearly."
The man said in a deep voice, "But he was driving a simple car, not worth more than a hundred grand."
Sure enough, it was the man Brittany married!
Patrina made a mocking smile, "I know who it is. Must be her husband."
"Check out that kid. The more details, the better."
This guy was super-efficient and quickly sent over a photo. It was Brittany and a young man walking in the community. It was already late, and the man's face was unclear, but Brittany's face was clearly visible.
It was an old neighborhood, worthless in her eyes. Living in such a place, and driving a car worth less than a hundred grand. Brittany actually agreed to marry this kind of man? This gave her the perfect opportunity to humiliate Brittany.
The next morning.
Brittany received a call from Patrina. "Finn and I are getting engaged soon, are you going to attend our engagement party?"
Brittany's good mood vanished.
An engagement party, how could she possibly miss it? After her shotgun wedding, the Dustin family claimed to have cut ties with her, and Patrina snatched away her wedding dress. The Dustin family even claimed that Brittany betrayed Finn, and that she was dishonorable!
Now everyone in their circle was discussing it. Brittany wasn't a fool, she could hear all the talk.
Now that Patrina was inviting her, clearly it was just an opportunity to humiliate her.
"I'll be there."
Brittany hung up the phone and started making breakfast, Isaac came out in fresh clothes just in time to see her.
"Good morning, Zakky."
Brittany smiled sweetly, as always.
Isaac grunted in response, walked to the dining table, the coffee steaming hot.
Her face was covered in ointment, and it healed quickly overnight.
After breakfast, Isaac handed the living expenses card to Brittany. "The police are still looking for the landlord, the rent will be refunded to your card, and the agency is being handled." "Okay, I got it."
After Isaac left, Brittany cleaned up the dining room and turned on the computer. As she expected, everyone in the industry knew that she had fallen out with VelvetGlow Jewellery. Coupled with her events of the past, her chances of finding a job were almost zero.
She racked her brains and decided to start her own business. The fifty grand was the only startup capital she had.
Brittany rewrote her resume and inquired about Wesley's situation. She needed a strong investor to start her business.
Wesley was profit-oriented, and that was how businessmen were. Her previous meeting with him made her realize that he was someone she could work with.
Hannah sent a message asking how she was doing after moving.
Brittany sent a voice message and told her about last night's events. Hannah was furious. "What kind of agency is this? Renting people problematic houses? It's a good thing you're okay, or the consequences would have been unthinkable."
Hannah quietly left the meeting room. "Isn't this all too coincidental?"
"What?"
"You need to move out, and a house just happens to be available. And on the first day you move in, someone comes to collect a debt."
Hannah's suspicion wasn't unfounded, as there were just too many coincidences.
Hearing this, Brittany began to ponder. She was only scared last night, but thinking back now, there were indeed a lot of coincidences in this matter.
"Bri, I feel like this isn't as simple as it seems."
Hannah bit her lip, "I can help you look into it, to see if it's a coincidence or if someone is doing it on purpose. By the way, what kind of man is your husband? It's a good thing he came last night." Hannah wanted to meet the husband that Brittany spoke of.
"He's actually just a regular guy," Brittany said gently. "Alright." Hannah wasn't satisfied, "I'll meet him one day."
