Chapter 20
No sooner had Brittany spoken than she realized she shouldn't have asked that.
They were just in it for convenience, not as a real married couple.
She paused for a bit and said, "Sorry, I was just being nosy."
Isaac hadn't processed it yet. Hearing her apology, he showed some irritation: "She's just a friend."
Brittany didn't expect her to explain.
"Dinner was great, thanks."
She stood up, tidied up the tableware, and went back to her room.
All night, Brittany kept dreaming about what happened at the Field family's dinner and the pasta Isaac made, waking up not long after falling asleep.
She wiped her face, her hand all sweaty.
She was panting heavily; it took a while for her mood to calm down, then she went into the bathroom.
After a quick rinse, she took out some ingredients from the fridge and started preparing breakfast.
Isaac got up and smelled something delicious. "Are you making soup?"
"I have a friend who's still in the hospital. I'm going to bring it there later, then go to work."
"Is his injury serious?"
"It's okay; it's not life-threatening."
Breakfast was ready.
After they finished breakfast, Brittany went into the bathroom. When she came out, she was in a light-colored long dress with her hair pinned up and falling naturally, looking very casual. She grabbed a new thermos and divided the soup into two parts, one for William and one for Isaac.
"You've been working hard lately; take this soup to the office."
Isaac did not refuse: "Thanks."
He left with the thermos, and Brittany followed closely, driving to the hospital.
When they got to the hospital, William was awake. She walked up to the bedside and put down the thermos: "William, I made some soup; you can have some later." "Okay."
William smiled at her and said "It's getting late; you should go to work."
"Okay, then I'll go first. I'll come and get the thermos tonight." Brittany spoke a few words, then left.
William looked at the thermos. He reached out and opened the lid of the thermos. The aroma of the fresh soup hit his nose.
He had no appetite, but the smell made him hungry.
After arriving at Velvet Glow Jewellery, Sydney sneered: "You put William in the hospital, and you still have the nerve to show up here?" "Some people should watch their mouths, or their plotting to harm others will be exposed."
Brittany put down her bag and coldly looked at Sydney.
Sydney bit her lip and said "Don't get too cocky!"
She failed this time, but next time she will definitely ruin Brittany!
Frank gave her a new project, and she was buried in her design drafts until six in the afternoon.
After work, she got a call from Patrina: "Come to the Royal Elegance Hotel."
Brittany was alert. "Okay, I got it."
She grabbed her bag and left, texting Hannah: "Hannah, I'm meeting Patrina at the Royal Elegance Hotel. If I don't text in an hour, come find me."
Sydney saw her leave and thought her chance had come, so she drove to the hospital.
With William in the hospital, this was a great opportunity for her to get closer to him.
At the Royal Elegance Hotel.
Patrina had been waiting for a while. Although Finn's face was cold, he let Patrina lean on him.
"Sis, come here."
Patrina instructed.
Brittany parked the car, saying, "Let's go."
The three of them arrived at the suite; the room was filled with the scent of aromatherapy, a faint pine fragrance that was very elegant. Brittany didn't think much of it; she sat down next to the sofa.
"Give me the stuff."
Patrina took out a box from her bag and handed it to Brittany. Brittany took it and couldn't wait to open it. Inside was the heirloom left by her mother.
