The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart novel (Brittany and Isaac)

Chapter 12

"Yeah."

Austin, a butler who had served for many years, said gently, "This is Ms. Dustin, who is now living with Mr. Salter."

Grace was over the moon. "Fantastic." Her grandson had finally tied the knot; of course, she was thrilled.

"Madam, Miss Sydney also reached out to you this morning, hoping to meet."

Sydney?

Grace had a pretty good impression of her. After all, they were family in a way. "Arrange a time then."

"Sure."

When Brittany arrived at Velvet Glow Jewellery, the Deputy Director stopped her and said, "Brittany, come here."

In his office, he poured her a cup of coffee himself. "Have a seat."

Brittany was quite surprised. Ever since she started, she had been treated like a ghost in the department, and the Deputy Director had openly and privately ostracized her. This could be a trap. "Frank, what's up?" Brittany didn't touch the glass.

"Mr. Tueley has signed off." Frank said with a smile, "You did a great job this time. The project bonus will be added to your salary, but."

Brittany had a hunch that something was off.

Sure enough, the next second, Frank shamelessly said, "This project was originally Sydney's responsibility; I think she should get the credit."

"Frank, everyone in the department has worked on this project; why don't we just credit it to the design team of Velvet Glow Jewellery?"

There's no way Brittany was going to hand over the credit to Sydney.

Frank slammed the table; "Brittany, you're the newbie here; don't push me! You have a shady past. If it wasn't for the Director's insistence on hiring you, how could you possibly get into Velvet Glow Jewellery?" The mention of the past made Brittany annoyed.

Frank softened his tone again: "Sydney is a relative of the Salter family, and the whole company now belongs to the Salter family. Why are you picking a fight with her? You won't lose your bonus. But making a fuss now doesn't do you any good."

Brittany knew she couldn't afford to offend Sydney, at least not now. She gritted her teeth and stayed silent for a while. "Let me think about it."

Everyone in the design department knew Brittany had won over Wesley, and they were all talking about it.

"Who would've thought that Brittany's pretty badass: she actually managed to win over Mr. Tueley?"

Someone chuckled, "What other tricks could she have used other than climbing the corporate ladder on a man's back?"

"If Brittany wasn't such a looker, how could she have gotten into Velvet Glow Jewellery?"

Sydney had always thought Brittany was hired because she seduced William, and she disliked her even more now.

Everyone in the office sided with Sydney, so they didn't hold back their nasty comments.

Brittany left the office looking pretty grim.

Sydney approached her and said, "Brittany, congratulations on getting Mr. Tueley's project."

Brittany shot Sydney a cold look and said flatly, "Buzz off!" She didn't believe that Sydney knew anything about what Frank had said.

"Do you know?" Sydney said with a solemn and triumphant tone, "William bringing you in has already upset the group. If you cause more trouble for him now, you might ruin him."

William was taken away by people from Grandeur Capital this morning, and the whole office was buzzing with gossip. They speculated that it was Brittany who had made the higher-ups unhappy, leading them to take him away for questioning.

Hearing this, Brittany felt a heavy weight in her heart.

So, the reason she hadn't seen William in the morning was because he had been taken away by the group.

She clenched her fists. If she was the reason for William's career being jeopardized, she could never live with that.

Seeing her hesitation, Sydney chuckled and said, "Mr. Salter is my cousin. As long as you behave and accept my terms, William will be fine."

Sydney was actually deceiving Brittany. She didn't know why William had been taken away either. But she had discussed with Frank that they had to get the credit!

However, Brittany didn't budge. "Sydney, I can't promise you the credit; I have to go to work now."

Sydney chuckled and said, "Alright then."

Sydney thought: If you don't accept my goodwill, you'll have to face my punishment!

After Sydney left, Brittany texted William, "Mr. Dillion, are you okay?"

Grandeur Capital.

William reported the internal situation of Velvet Glow Jewellery in detail. The man in the main seat, wearing golden-rimmed glasses and with prominent knuckles, pushed his glasses up, looking somewhat tired "According to the current situation, Velvet Glow Jewellery is in debt."

"Yes."

Isaac took off his glasses and said, "In a year, if Velvet Glow Jewellery can't generate revenue, you'll need to seriously reflect on yourself."

William was hired by the group for a lot of money, and Isaac had high hopes for him.

"Mr. Salter, I'll do my best."

Isaac and William were old friends. After discussing work, they dropped the seriousness.

"How have you been these years?"

"All's well."

Suddenly, William's phone made a sound.

He apologized and took out his phone. It was a message from Brittany.

"Mr. Dillion, are you okay?"

His face instantly softened, and there was a hint of joy in his eyes.

Isaac, who was good at reading people, asked him, "Girlfriend?"

William shook his head with a smile, saying, "No. She's a classmate from the same school; we're just friends now."

Just friends for now, which meant he had feelings for her.

Isaac, a bit curious, asked, "Seems like you have a thing for her. Wanna grab a bite together sometime?"

They used to be college roommates and had a tight bond. If William had a crush, having a meal together was no big deal.

William didn't say yes right away, hesitating, "She doesn't know about my feelings yet; let's wait a bit longer."

After discussing work with Isaac, William took his leave. Isaac saw him out personally.

Hannah walked into the building with a contract and spotted Isaac immediately.

Tall, handsome, and sophisticated, his gold-rimmed glasses added a touch of classiness to him.

His gray shirt accentuated his perfect figure, definitely screaming executive vibes.

"That's Mr. Salter."

A colleague cautiously reminded her, "Despite his good looks, he's super shrewd. He's decisive and not someone we want to cross!"

So, he's the big boss? With a face like that, he could be a top-tier celebrity!

Hannah swallowed hard, a bit flustered. Even after stepping into the elevator, she couldn't take her eyes off him.

She pulled out her phone, sharing with Brittany, "Bri, I just saw the big boss; he's super hot!"

If it weren't for keeping her job, she would have snapped a photo to send to Brittany.

Brittany was not in the mood to appreciate hunks, simply replying, "Oh."

Hannah was still basking in the joy of spotting a hunk, chatting with her colleagues about Isaac.

Meanwhile, William didn't return to Velvet Glow Jewellery until late, looking pretty beat.

Turning a profit within a year was no easy task.

Sydney immediately warned Brittany, "Look at what you've done. Because of you, Mr. Dillion got reprimanded. If I were you, I'd bail on Velvet Glow Jewellery ASAP!" Brittany bit her lip, contemplating talking to William.

But William was swamped with no spare time, and she didn't get to say what she wanted.

After work, Brittany returned to her apartment.

Knowing Isaac was bringing his grandma over, she hit the supermarket and bought a ton of groceries.

Back at the apartment, Isaac was not back yet.

She thought for a bit and called him, "Zakky, is Grandma there yet?"

Isaac glanced at Grace in his office and whispered, "She's here."

"I'll start cooking; come home early."

With Grandma visiting, they should have had a nice meal out. But she hadn't received her pay yet, and Isaac had just started working and was tight on cash, so they decided to cook a nice meal at home.

"Sure."

Isaac hung up and said to his grandma, "Grandma, let's go."

As Isaac was helping his Grandma out of the building and about to get into the car, they heard a woman's voice.

"Grace."

Sydney had been waiting for a while and finally got her chance. She hurried over to greet them.

Grace recognized Sydney and smiled. "Sydney, what brings you here?"

"I heard Auntie say you're visiting Zac, so I thought I'd come and say hi," Sydney replied.

Grace didn't mind her popping up uninvited because Sydney was always a good girl. At least in her presence.

"Where are you and Zac off to?"

"Zac got married. He's taking me to meet his wife." Grace was clueless about the fake marriage and assumed it was for real, her face full of joy.

Sydney was stunned. "Married?"

Isaac got married. How could she have no clue about such a big event?

"Zac, how come you didn't tell us about your marriage? Who's the lucky girl?"
