Chapter 910
Chapter 910
After all, Brittany was the daughter he’d only just found, and their bond was not yet deep. He feared overwhelming her.
“How about this,” he said gently, “you stay over tonight. The Lynette family is eagerly awaiting your return.”
Yuri took her hand reassuringly. “After tonight, I’ll take you back myself, and we can meet your husband.”
Brittany thought for a few minutes before nodding. “Okay.”
Yuri signaled the staff to prepare a room on the third floor and personally escorted Brittany to her quarters.
“Mr. Lynette,” she said hesitantly, “you mentioned earlier that you would share the story between you and my mother.”
“Come with me,” he replied.
Yuri led Brittany to the study and made a cup of coffee before beginning his tale.
“Your mother once came to Craneville to study. That’s how we met by chance.”
When Yuri met Julie,, he was a carefree playboy, living off his family’s wealth.
He fell for Julie at first sight.
Unfortunately, Julie was indifferent to him. It took nearly half a year of relentless pursuit, learning her likes and dislikes, and charming his way into her life before she began to show any fondness for him.
Julie was exceptional-strikingly beautiful, academically brilliant, and they shared
countless interests.
After a year together, he saw her as his life partner.
On their first anniversary, he brought Julie home to the Lynette family.
Julie had always been discreet, claiming to be a mere student. When the Lynette family learned of her, they disapproved of her humble origins.
Despite family pressure, Yuri insisted on being with her, even to the point of breaking away and moving out of the Lynette family.
Cut off from his family’s funds, accustomed to a life of luxury, he found himself in dire straits for those six months.
To save money, they shared a basement apartment while Julie was still in school.
The Lynette family issued an ultimatum, and he couldn’t find a decent job. To make ends

meet, he worked on a construction site, earning a meager daily wage.
He worked for nearly half a year to support Julie through her graduation.
Julie landed a great job at a major corporation in Craneville, and life began to improve.
They moved out of the basement, and they planned to marry by the end of the year.
A month before the wedding, Julie received word that her mother was gravely ill, prompting her to return to her home country.
Unexpectedly, she never came back.
Yuri’s resources were limited, forcing him to seek help from the Lynette family. However, he couldn’t find any trace of her until he heard, three months later, that Julie had gotten married.
The Lynette family had confiscated Yuri’s passport, leaving him unable to leave Craneville. Trapped for nearly a year, Yuri’s health deteriorated. It was only then that the Lynette family realized the severity of the situation and sent him to the hospital.
Yuri preferred not to speak of the events that followed.
After being discharged, he found himself already married. His bride was none other than Leila.
Brittany had been silent all this time.
Finally, she spoke. “I’ve never heard my mother mention anything about her time in Craneville.”
Julie rarely talked about the past. She always seemed calm and restrained, perfect like a robot, as if emotions were trivial in her presence.
“And your current wife, how do you feel about her?”
“We were strangers before we married,” Yuri said, shaking his head. “I thought about divorce, but I lacked the means…”
In the following years, he fought to strengthen his position, hoping to escape the marriage. However, when he brought up divorce, his father threatened him with death and suppressed the issue.
Brittany hadn’t expected such a turn of events,
Julie wasn’t the biological daughter of the Russell family. The Russells had been in sparse contact with her over the years. To find out why Julie had married Robert Dustin was no simple matter.
Yuri, too, struggled with these revelations.

“Bri,” he said warmly, “now that I know you exist, I promise to take good care of you.”
Brittany mét Yuri’s eyes and felt an unexpected warmth. It was the unique connection of blood relatives.
