Chapter 189
Chapter 189
After confirming that Paisley had left safely. Lucy withdrew her team. She had no intention of staying in such a messy place any longer than Unecesar. Despite the chaos, she wasn't worried in the slightest. With Dominick present, the doubted the Sullivan and Jackman families would dare say a word
Before leaving, however, she left a generous sum of money for the hotel to compensate for the damages. The hotel received far more than the actual cost of repairs, so they gladly accepted without complaint. The Sullivan and Jackman families, however, were left in a state of unter turmoil.
Gary, watching the whole debacle play out, was in an excellent mood, Grluning, he walked alongside Lucy and said, "Ms. Green, wait for me. Let's discuss the lead role together on the way
His words were a direct slap to Brittany's face, making it crystal clear that she had no chance of getting the role.
Furious. Brittany wanted to chase after him and demand an explanation. But just as she took a step forward, Gregory shot her a warning look Reluctantly, she returned to Christina's side, seething with resentment. Meanwhile, Grayson tugged on Dominick's hand, his voice trembling with tears. "Dad, let's go find Mom. I don't want to stay here anymore." Shaken out of his daze. Dominick took Grayson's hand and began to leave.
Seeing them go. Gregory tried to salvage the situation. "Mr. Vanderbilt, it's not what you think. Paisley is my biological daughter. How could 1 not care about her? It's just that she was so stubborn before, making serious mistakes and refusing to admit them. That's why I had to discipline her. I didn't think she'd hold a grudge and cut off contact with us for so many years."
Seeing Dominick unmoved, Gregory followed after him desperately. I've always been worried about Paisley. I couldn't find her or get in touch with ber. When I ran into her recently, I thought she wasn't doing well on her own, so I wanted to help her find a match. I chose the
Jackman family because of their good conditions. As for telling them not to be too nice to her, it's because I know her temper. I didn't want her to be spoiled. I was only doing it for her own good."
Dominick stopped in his tracks, his expression complicated as he looked at Gregory. His words sounded hauntingly familiar.
He, too, had said the same thing to Paisley countless times. That he was doing it for her own good. But had he ever truly listened to what Paisley wanted:
Actually, he had. In the beginning, when they were dating, Paisley had said she wanted a home. So he gave her one. But was that truly what she had theant
Later, he became preoccupied with family business, socializing, and strategizing, but he completely neglected her. Thinking he was acting in her best interest, he made decisions on her behalf
When he didn't receive the response he expected, he assumed Paisley was simply being difficult, and step by step, the distance between them grew. "So that's how it is. I can't believe it, he murmured, looking at Gregory with a bitter smile. The irony of it all struck him deep Dominick didn't respond to Gregory's explanation-
he didn't want to align himself with someone like Gregory. Holding Grayson's hand, he continued walking toward the exit.
Worried about Dominick seeking revenge later, the Jackmans rushed after him. "Dominick, this really has nothing to do with our family! The Sullivans were the ones who approached us. If you're upset, blame them, not us!"
Gregory nearly collapsed from the jackmans' words, so enraged he almost triggered a heart attack. Christina, however, didn't
care about her husband's wellbeing at all: Instead, she pulled Brittany along and ran after Dominick. "Mr. Vanderbilt, wait! You can't just leave like this. What about Brittany? What's going to happen to Brittany?" But Dominick didn't even spare them a glance. He simply picked Grayson up and strode out of the hotel. At the hotel entrance, the driver was already waiting with the car door open. Standing at the doorway, Dominick felt the light drizzle landing on his body. It was really raining. The rain felt so cold.
When Paisley returned home, the drizzle had turned into a torrential downpour.
Serena and Maria had just finished dinner and were playing games, Sering Paisley return, Serena put down her toy and happily ran into her arms.. "Mommy, you're back!
Tes Paisley replied, holding Serena tightly. At that moment, all the gloom in her heart disappeared.
The comforting scent of her daughter calmed her restless mind. In this world, there were countless
remedies, but only Serena could truly heal her.
"Mommy, it's raming outside, Serena said, pointing to the rain-splattered window.
"Yes, it's raining really hard" Paisley replied, unsure of the meaning behind Serena's comment.
"When it rains, Max from next door hurts again," Serena said.
Paisley raised an eyebrow. She remembered that? Seeing her daughter's concerned expression, Paisley fondly ruffled her hair. "Are you worried about Max?
"Yes" Serena nodded. I like Max. I don't want him to be in pain. Momuny, can you go help him?"
Maria walked over with an exasperated look. "She hasn't stopped talking about Max since you left. Even while playing games, she kept glancing at the door, waiting for you to come back."
From her observations over the past few days, Maria felt that the men next door didn't seem like bad people.
One day, when the villa garden's water pipe broke, Leo came over to fix it without hesitation. Although she could've called maintenance, Leo had seen the issue and immediately offered to help, saying it was no trouble at all.
As for the man with the injured leg, every time he saw Serena, he would play with her for a while. Despite his tall and imposing figure, he was so gentle when he spoke. Maria couldn't blame Serena for liking him-she found herself liking him too,
Paisley looked at Maria and Serena in confusion. What had happened over the past week that she didn't know about? When did Maria and Serena become so close to the people next door?
Just then, the villa's doorbell rang. Maria opened the video intercom
and saw Leo standing outside with an umbrella, his expression anxious.
"Maria, is Paisley home? Could
you ask her to come over and check on my boss?" Leo's voice was urgent as he spoke directly after seeing Maria on the intercom. "Uh, sure, we'll come right away: Maria replied.
Paisley was speechless. Excuse me? Did anyone ask for my opinion?'
