Chapter 2: Shopping
Chapter 2
Lilith Point of View
I woke up from the loud knocks and groaned, “What? It's Sunday, James.” I yelled in a raspy voice. “It's noon, Lilith. We need to go and buy clothes for you or else you would not have anything to wear tomorrow that fits in the description they sent you.” James replied from the other side of the door.
As my mind comprehended his words, my sleep was long forgotten and I was rushing to the door. “You should have woken me earlier, James. I need to buy a lot of stuff.” I huffed while opening my door for him to enter.
He shook his head and ran his eyes over me before pointing his thumb behind his back and spoke, "Get ready in thirty minutes. I'm not waiting any longer.”
My eyes widened at his words and I rushed inside while mumbling, “How can you be so cruel at times? Thirty minutes to get done with everything.”
“I had told you before too to sleep early but you don't want to. Not my fault, now get ready, kiddo.” James' voice faded as he went back to whatever he was doing.
I sighed and took a look at my room which had everything all over. The books that I was studying were laying on my dark wood nightstand while my light blue bed sheet was ruffled. The window located just above my bed was open, letting the slight warm breeze in my room.
I had thought to clean my room and organize it today but seems like I'm postponing it to next weekend. With these thoughts, I rushed into the shower and quickly washed my light caramel hair before scrubbing my pale skin.
I soon exited the shower and shuffled through the few pair of clothes that I owned to find something suitable to wear. After looking at every piece of cloth, I finally settled on a pair of white boyfriend jeans with an oversized olive-green sweatshirt. I knew it won't look the most pleasing but I had barely any clothes to wear out since I was not fond of going out and I haven't shopped for as long as I can remember.
I shook my head as I remembered that I was running late and blow-dried my mid-back length hair before pulling them in a sleek ponytail. I was just putting on my sneakers when I heard James' voice from the dining room, “We are getting late, Lilith.”
“Just a minute,” I yelled back and searched for my cell phone in my messy room.
Once I found my cell, I hurried towards the dining hall and saw James waiting for me patiently. He was dressed casually in blue denim and a fitted white T-shirt that showed his workout results very well.
“Let's go.” He uttered as soon as he saw me and made his way outside towards his truck.
I followed him and as we settled inside his truck, I asked the question I have been dying to ask since yesterday. “Can I take your truck to college, James?”
His hand paused while he turned to me before shaking his head. “No, you can't. You still can’t drive that well and I would hate it if you got in any sort of accident. It's best that you take public transport to college or else, I can drop you before going to work and pick you up. But I doubt you would want that.” He concluded.
I nodded my head in disappointment while he ignited the engine and we took off for the shopping. Since I hadn't had breakfast, we made a stop at one of the cafés and had something to eat before we headed to the mall.
My eyes lifted to check the digital clock placed on the dashboard of the truck and I noticed it's almost seven in the evening. We were heading back to James's cottage that was located at the edge of the city.
I turned my head and stared outside from the window while the whole day flashed in front of my eyes. We had shopped for hours while searching for the perfect clothes. I had mostly gotten fitted types of denim, crop tops, summer dresses, and some pair of footwears.
I'm glad that James had been putting money for me every month or else I doubt we would have been able to buy so many things. Since there are no tuition fees in Wulfric College for any student, my only worry was my necessities.
I snapped out of my thoughts when James parked the truck in front of his cottage. The cottage is surrounded by woods and is completely made of dark wood. I got out of the truck and helped James in putting all the stuff inside before heading to my room for changing my clothes.
Once done taking a shower, I made my way to the dining room and sat on my chair for dinner. James was already waiting for me with his Chinese served and we both dug in our food as soon as mine was served too.
“You will get your schedule from the administration office and it's mentioned in the small steps guide provided, that you meet the president of the college. He can be of help whenever you face any issue concerning professors.” James said while eating the last bits of his dinner.
“President? I thought they didn't follow that norm of the college council.” I voiced out after swallowing my food.
"Yea, they didn't use to but they changed it last year; so that students have more convenience.” James clarified and I nodded in understanding.
"So, Who's the president that I'm supposed to meet?” I queried while placing my fork down. "Carson Woods, he is a senior. You can also meet the college secretary if you can't meet him. Briana Wesley, she's a senior too.” James replied while checking the names on his phone.
I nodded and went back to my room while my mind reminded me of the name of the president, Carson Woods. Hopefully, he won't be an ass but I highly doubt that. After all, with position comes power, and with power comes arrogance.
I shook my head; I should not be judging the person without even meeting him. With the president's thoughts swirling in my head, I fell asleep.
