Chapter 129 – The Alphas’ Porn Star Mate
"I've got to get back to the office, cara mia. I'll come find you later." Mick pushed his plate off to the side as an omega appeared from the kitchen to retrieve the empty plates. He kissed my lips teasingly, biting down on my bottom lip with a playful grin. "Try not to miss me too much." "You're asking for too much," I laughed softly, rubbing my nose on his. I could feel his reluctance to leave me alone. Maybe because it was with the witch sisters. "I'm not leaving the pack house. Go get some work done."
His smile left his eyes, and I detected a bit of nervousness in him now. Maybe some guilt.
"Have fun," he said. He looked at everyone else, his eyes lingering on Lenny for a second longer than the other, then nodded a goodbye before leaving the room.
"What was that? Did you do something?" I asked Lenny. Mick never singles Lenny out in one of his stares. Jamie, maybe, because of the Nonna situation, but Lenny is always on everyone's good side.
"I don't think so," he murmured with an indifferent tone, then pushed up from the table. "I've got something I need to take care of though. I'll see you all later."
"I'm sure you will," Driana muttered, eyeing him from the corner of her eye. Paulina slapped her arm with the back of her hand, wearing a disapproving look. Paulina's eyes went wide, then she smacked her gums together, making clicking noises with her throat. I hadn't witnessed this in so long that it fascinated me to see them communicate. I almost overlooked the strange behavior with Lenny as he left the room.
"Oh, hush," Driana waved away her sister. "The whole thing is silly if you ask me, but no one ever does."
"What's silly?" I asked.
"Probably that you made them wait forever for you while you got your ass spanked in some lunchtime nookie," Jamie smirked, sending a wink to Paulina. "If you're jealous, I can help you out."
"That's not suspicious," Cortina snorted.
"What? Jamie being his usually freakish self?"
"Him being his usual freakish self to someone other than our feisty grandma-in-law. Nonna left a while ago and he didn't follow after her like he usually would."
"Mick was here. He probably just didn't want to provoke him."
Cortina huffed, flipping her tail. "Yeah. That sounds like Jamie."
She has a hint of suspicion about her, and I'm not going to lie, I do too, but for all I know, Paulina and Driana's little exchange could have nothing to do with anything concerning me. And Jamie is just being Jamie. He does what he wants.
"Stop hitting on all the experienced ladies," Cindy groaned, pinching his nose and looking annoyed. He stood up, still shaking his head. "Come on, sis. Since our witchy little Luna is too stubborn to allow her ass to be protected so she can leave the pack house, let's get you set up somewhere I know she's comfortable with." He held his hand out for Paulina. Paulina grabbed hold of his elbow with a glint in her eyes, then violet magic stirred in her irises. Cindy gasped, holding his hand to his chest, then said, "Oh, you're bad." "What? What was that?" Jamie stared at them looking confused.
Cindy smirked. "Miss Paulina would like for you to know that only a less endowed man would need to overcompensate by being as flirty as you."
I chortled, almost snorting my last sip of coffee.
Jamie mocked being offended, then wiggled his brows. "Why do you think I like the experienced ones best? They know how to use what I got."
I rolled my eyes. Jamie is not a small man, in any regard. He's just a pervert and has a fetish for older women. He's confident enough not to be offended by Paulina's teasing remarks.
"Did she use her magic to talk to you?" I asked Cindy in a mind link, curious if that was what I saw stirring in her eyes.
"Well, she can't use her tongue, so she uses what she can. It drains her magic though, so don't expect her to do it much."
I've heard Paulina clicking and smacking her gums to talk to her sister in the past, but never saw her use magic. It made me more and more fascinated. I wanted to know how she was able to call on magic like that so easily. I have been able to feel mine deep inside ever since the attack, but I don't know how to work it again.
Cindy led all of us down to the basement, and I laughed seeing where we were heading. "Somewhere I'm comfortable with, huh?"
Cindy shot me a devious smirk. "You did put on quite the show here. Or so I heard."
"Heard from who?"
"A mouthy Gamma," Jamie draped his arm over my shoulder. "I felt left out."
"Get a mate," I shrugged off his arm."
"Yeah," he sighed. "If only it were that easy.
We went into the interrogation room, where there was still a bed from that night. It was stripped and bare, cleaned from what happened, but Cindy still turned his nose up at it.
"Let's sit somewhere safe." He led Paulina to the table and chairs, pulling one out for her. He pulled the other out and waved at it, offering it to Driana, but she shook her head. "No. Chloe and I will be seated on the bed for this."
"Can I join you?" Jamie hopped in the middle of the mattress, flexing his arms up and behind his head.
"I'd suggest sitting your tom-cat ass in the corner and keeping your lips tight, or I'm going to take it as you're volunteering."
"Volunteering for what?" He looked hopeful.
Driana shrugged. "Whatever strikes my fancy. Right now, I'm thinking about changing you into a frog."
"Ew, no thanks. Nonna won't like that.... Wait. Unless...." A cheesy grin broke out on his face. "Is it the kind of frog she has to kiss to turn back to normal?"
"Sit your ass down!" Driana snapped her fingers, sending a bolt of purple electricity from her hand to zap his ass.
He yelped, shuffling quickly off the bed. "Ouch! Okay!"
My eyes lit up with excitement. "I want to do that too. Can I zap people's asses?"
Driana scoffed. "You'll be able to do a lot more than that."
She signaled for me to join her on the bed, so I crawled up and sat cross-legged across from her. She took her bag from her shoulder, rifling through it as I sat there nervously and watched. "Here, take this," Driana said, handing me a metal flask with gemstones embedded in it.
If I blurted my eyes just right, the stones looked like a picture of a wolf. It was like one of those pictures you have to squint at to see the hidden image within. I stared at the flask in my hands, unsure if she wanted me to drink it or not. The longer I stared, the more the gemstones seemed to come alive. I blurred my eyes again, then the wolf moved.
I gasped loudly, dropping the flask on to the bed.
"What the fluff was that?" Cortina asked in my head.
I looked to Driana for the answer. "What was that?"
"What was what, Chloe?" The serious tone in Driana's voice led me to believe she knew what, but my answer was still important.
"It.... it moved."
"What did?"
