Chapter 12 – The Alphas’ Porn Star Mate
"You're a Luna on the run, huh?" Rodger chuckled, shaking his head in disbelief. "Wow. The future Luna of Red Moon Pack, no less. No wonder Driana chose to hide you with me the way she did." "What do you mean by that?"
I told Cindy and Rodger my story of how I came to be here. I didn't see any reason not to. Not with Rodger being the brother of the witches that sent me here. They seemed more than aware of my situation and would likely fill him in if I didn't. Plus, I felt a sense of peace with Rodger. He had a very calming presence and trusting demeanor. I have felt at ease here completely since I walked in, despite it being a strip club. They were completely empathetic when I went over every detail of my relationship with Cameron and what I woke up to. Rodger even got pissed, gripping his armchair angrily when I told him how I woke up. "What I mean is that my sisters and I have a bitter history with the Red Moon Pack."
"What kind of bitter history?" I was an orphaned warrior before becoming Cameron's mate. We weren't told much in the way of pack problems and feuds. The witches' apothecary was on my guard route into town before I turned eighteen, but my commander just said to make sure that they weren't causing any problems. She didn't give any of us a reason why we were checking in on that little village.
The witches had the best smelling lotions and soaps, and I enjoyed looking through their different potions for so many different things when I stopped by. They were less wary of me than the other guards and warriors, which is how I became aware they had the scent-blocking methods. Driana mentioned it to me once in passing.
Come to think of it, that was right before my eighteenth birthday. I didn't get to see them or anyone outside of the packhouse after that. I wasn't allowed to go past the training grounds.
"Your current Alpha, or should I say, your former Alpha, Alpha Carlton, is a vile cretin. I won't go into more tonight, but just know Driana and Paulina will go to great lengths to keep you hidden now. You will be safe here. Driana has likely already erased any trace of your scent where she is at all. I can smell the sweet tinge of vervain in your hair. Was she smoking one of her cigars?"
I nodded slowly.
"Thought so," he grinned. "I can get you a room, but be aware that this was a sanctuary intended for men. None will harm you, but after what you went through I want you to be forewarned, Chloe Mills."
"We don't bite," Cindy winked. "Not too hard, anyway. Unless you ask for it."
I laughed when Cindy snapped his teeth together, grinning like I was his prey. I didn't find him, Rodger, or the other men I saw downstairs threatening at all.
"I have no reason to be threatened by gay men."
"Oh, honey. We're not all gay. You just stumbled in like a gypsy in distress on twink night. We are primarily a gay bar, but we have women's nights once a week and our, uh, more macho merchandise comes out to play then. It's our busiest night of the week."
"I established this place for men who, like I once did, needed a safe place to remain hidden for whatever reasons. Many witches over the centuries have created places for safety for women, but I saw a need for the men of this world who were outcast and, or, fleeing for no fault of their own. Many taking refuge here are in fact gay, but definitely not all. Everyone has a story." Rodger smiled warmly, looking every bit like a kind-hearted leader.
"I like him," Cortina said. She hasn't offered many options since coming here, but I could feel her fondness for Rodger.
"I like him too."
Cindy had to get back to the club. He was supposed to be collecting entry fees and acting as a bouncer. He gave me a handshake and told me, "Welcome to the family," before heading off to work.
Rodger took me up to the top floor of the building by elevator. There were two apartments up there, both taking up half of the floor. The one to the left of the elevator was taken, Rodger said, but the man staying there traveled a lot for work and wasn't home often. I got the other apartment to myself. Rodger had the place fully furnished, though it wasn't decorated at all. It just had the necessities. It was a nice place, and I felt almost guilty for taking such a big space for myself, especially since Rodger told me that most of the others share apartments. "I'll leave you to get settled for now. If you come to the third floor at around nine, you can meet most of the family. We make dinner together and eat at that time. It's sloppy joes tonight," he smiled, like he was sorry about the menu.
"I haven't had a sloppy joe in years," I grinned. "Sounds great to me. Thank you."
"Don't thank me yet," he laughed. "Oh, also, we will see about getting you everything you might need tomorrow too."
"I, uh, I don't have any money," I said sheepishly. "I left with nothing. Not even clothes. Your sisters were the ones to dress me before I left."
"Don't worry about money for now. We will find something for you to do to provide for yourself. You could bartend or even find a job outside of the club. Did you say my sisters gave you a large supply of the scent blocking potion?" I nodded, holding open my bag so he could see inside.
He whistled low under his breath. "That will hold you over for a while. Plenty of time for me to get another batch made. Keep taking it to hide your scent. I think it would be best for now if we kept your identity as a Luna a secret outside of these walls. You never know who could be lurking in the city. I'm not entirely sure how far Fire Moon's reach is either."
"You think they can track me here?"
"Track you? No. My sisters will prevent it by any means necessary. But.... Packs communicate with each other, and there is a pack not far from here that makes the two hour drive to visit the beach at times. I'd rather you were safe than something happen to you when you're trying to enjoy your new life."
Made sense. I rather go rogue when I decide to finally reject the ass wipe I just left.
