Taming The Tiger Man - Genma Series #1

Chapter 14

The atmosphere at half past ten in the training room was not too different from before. Angelina sat near Fonda while Nixon and the other guard stood near the exit.

“So, what is your request?” asked Ms. Galina as she moved all ten fingers over the keyboard. “I suggest we focus on his agility.”

Fonda shoved Ramaik’s file to Angelina without looking at her. She tilted her head and answered, “Let him dive.”

“As you wish.” Ms. Galina typed quickly and pressed enter.

“Mentaya River, Kalimantan, Indonesia.”

Angelina held her breath as she watched the appearance inside the dome that had previously been marble-floored with glass walls change slowly.

Water dominated the view this time. Several wooden boats lined up on the banks of the river with a distance of about one meter in between.

“This time, Inyiak will fight Man Eater Crocodile,” informed Ms. Galina.

Saltwater Crocodile. The largest of crocodiles.

Angelina immediately recognized the animal mentioned by the machine operator. There are five saltwater crocodiles in her former zoo. One of them weighs 800 kilograms and is six meters long.

They have strong jaws, but when closed, they are difficult to open. Their main weakness is the eyes, before the ears and nose.

Angelina avoided worrying too much about the scene that would take place. In the exercise, Ramaik was only fighting a hologram. Tigers also possess greater strength compared to crocodiles.

Ms. Galina pressed a button before a capsule carrying Ramaik rose slowly from the surface. The creature walked out on a red-painted wooden boat that swayed gently with the water waves.

The handcuffs came off as the Caucasian researcher pressed another button. However, Ramaik was the same as always. He looked around carefully without moving at all.

“Doctor Angelina, why does that beast look like a hobo?” questioned Fonda with crossed arms. She observed the appearance of Ramaik with a dissatisfied expression. “I think you have just been negligent in duty.”

“There was a minor accident,” Angelina argued while glancing at Nixon. That man stood with his chest puffed out, ignoring the stifled laugh of his fellow bodyguard.

Angelina must have plastered his forehead after that accident. “Mr. Nixon is injured. I have to treat him.”

Their conservation halted as they heard the gurgling of water. Angelina and Fonda looked into the dome.

Ramaik was still standing on the ship’s roof. He watched the rippling surface of the river without motion. Angelina’s feelings became uneasy.

Is he looking at his reflection? But he was the one who threw the electric shave.

Ramaik’s bangs hung down, covering the sides of his face, while the creature’s body was bathed in sunlight, causing his skin to turn golden brown.

Well, he’s not ugly.

Angelina’s monologue was interrupted when Ramaik suddenly arched his back. The woman let out a loud squeal as a saltwater crocodile leaped vertically and opened its snout.

“Doctor Angelina! Stop screaming like an ape!” lashed out the annoyed Fonda. She cursed at her colleague.

Unfortunately, Angelina was currently deaf because of the rapid beating of her heart. The woman’s breathing quickened as Ramaik changed shape. Sumatran tiger fur grew on his enlarged back and hands.

Inyiak jumped almost four meters high. He then hugged the approximately one-ton weighted crocodile’s body from the front and looked up.

Angelina’s scream erupted when Ramaik opened his mouth and sank all four fangs into his opponent’s neck. A rancid smell wafted up as blood spurted from the neck of the five-meter-long reptile.

“Nice move.” A spontaneous compliment escaped Ms. Galina’s lips.

The two of them slid down the boat. Ramaik was now on top of the upside-down crocodile. The creature did not release his bite.

Fonda rolled her eyes and raised her hands while Angelina felt nauseous and trembled. She surrendered to the quality of her unprofessional replacement.

It’s just a hologram. It’s just a hologram. It’s just a –

Angelina reflexively covered her mouth with her palms while her eyes flashed in horror as the saltwater crocodile suddenly rolled over.

The giant reptile took the tiger man into a free fall, followed by a booming splash as the two hit the river.

“Now, he is diving.”

The view inside the dome transformed into under the river. Ramaik and the saltwater crocodile rolled over each other. However, the Inyiak did not let go of the bite or the hug.

Ramaik wants to cut off the airflow to the crocodile’s lungs. Angelina concluded. His behavior is no different from most tigers.

Red began to color the water in the dome. The freaked-out Angelina couldn’t see clearly. However, the scene now showed the riverbank.

Ramaik was trying to climb the ship with his body drenched in water and blood. The man’s chest inflated and deflated as he breathed and coughed.

“He’s exactly like a caveman that splashed in a pool of piranhas,” Fonda lamented. “I think it has something to do with the incompetence of his doctor to take care of his appearance.”

“Training is over. Please return,” said a robotic female as the capsule re-emerged from the floor and the scenery of Borneo disappeared.

Angelina felt her cheeks heat up at Fonda’s mock. The woman hissed back at her colleague. “Doctor Fonda, I don’t think it’s right to classify Ramaik as an animal. I can’t find him in the Panthera genus.”

“How strange your conclusion is,” Fonda retorted. “I thought he belonged to the Animalia kingdom, class Mammal. Do you think he should be a part of the Plantae kingdom? Perhaps, in the same family as tubers?”

“That’s not what I meant!” Angelina’s face was sour. The woman’s right hand tightly gripped the file in her lap and continued. “He understands what Mr. Nixon said and doesn’t like animal names. I think it would be best to stop mentioning those words to him.”

Fonda did not answer immediately. She swirled her chair to face her future replacement. She watched Angelina’s sullen expression before abruptly changing the subject. “Doctor Angelina, I understand that you might not prioritize your appearance. “I also don’t mind if you wear the same shirt every three days or struggle to tie your hair neatly, even with rubber bands.” I am also not commenting on the dirt on your shoes, which I am sure have not been cleaned for weeks…”

Angelina felt ashamed. She was blatantly insulted in public. However, she decided not to argue. The longer they argued, the longer she would get an insult.

“… but I hope you can take care of your patients professionally. Inyiak’s performance today was pathetic. No one would want to bet on a tramp whose face is not visible due to untidy hair. Are my words understood, Doctor? Is it polite enough for you?”

Angelina did not answer and only gave an annoyed look in return. Today, she will clean her shoes, unpack her untouched suitcase, and stuff the woman’s mouth in front of her with one of the socks she would probably find later.

Fonda stood up. She walked out without waiting for Angelina. However, she turned around and said one last time. “I hope you can use this lunchtime to finish up your unfinished business.”
