Taming Mr. Walker: Chapter 30

Danny

“Mr. Walker, Charlotte Kane is here to see you. It’s an unscheduled meeting. I said not to disturb you.”

The disapproval of Michelle, my PA, is apparent over the intercom. Why is this girl expecting to see the CEO unannounced?

Michelle’s right. I have the board of directors meeting in fifteen minutes.

But my curiosity is piqued.

She’s never been brave enough to arrive at my office uninvited before. In fact, when I see her in the office, she turns in the opposite direction, afraid people will smell the sex hormones fuming from both of us if we stand too close.

And of course, it’s her birthday today.

“Send her through,” I confirm.

There’s hesitation on the other end. “The board meeting, sir.”

“Yes, I know,” I reply sharply, irritated at being challenged.

“Yes, sir.”

There’s a soft knock. “Come in.”

She enters, and I stop typing, leaning back in my chair.

“So you knock now?”

Her hair is messily bundled in a bun on top of her head, hair escaping everywhere, and she’s wearing her reading glasses. A fitted white shirt that needs an iron run over it is rolled into figure-hugging jeans showing her long legs.

She’s beautiful. Without fail, I feel a pulse of desire between my legs.

Will I get used to this? It’s becoming embarrassing.

“Charlie?” I question. “As much as I want to see you, and believe me, I’d prefer to spend the next hour with you rather than old men in suits; I have a director’s meeting in ten minutes.”

“Hey,” she says, and my expression softens. “I wanted to thank you for the nice flowers.”

“You’re welcome, beautiful. Happy birthday.”

Her lips part, and she looks unsure of herself.

My intercom buzzes, and I press to talk.

“Mr. McMillon is in reception. Shall I get him escorted to the boardroom, sir?”

“Yes, please,” I confirm to Michelle as Charlie walks around my desk.

I push my chair back, thinking she’s going to kiss me. Instead, she sinks to her knees in front of me, pushing my legs apart.

An involuntary rush of breath escapes my lips.

What the fuck?

Here?

Now?

“What the fuck are you doing, Charlie?”

She puts her hands on my knees, looking up at me with fake innocence knowing exactly what she’s doing.

My dick betrays me, and the blood pumps through it, anticipating what might happen.

Pulling down my zipper, she takes the base of my shaft in her fist and wraps her mouth around my cock.

I close my eyes, gripping the desk.

I should push her away.

I can’t.

I don’t.

She moves her mouth around my cock like she’s sucking a piece of candy.

“Baby,” I say in a strangled voice watching the swallowing action in her throat.

My intercom phone buzzes, and I jab it on mute.

Her bright green eyes stare up, equally wanting to please me and own me.

My hips buck up to sink deeper into her mouth, and she uses the excuse to wrap her hands around my buttocks.

Fuck, now she has me in a hold.

I grasp her hair harder than I mean to, and she yelps a little, the humming around my cock only bringing me closer.

My teeth bite down hard on my bottom lip to stop my groaning from reaching my PA’s ears. I’m not going to last.

“I’m close,” I groan, my breath so ragged it’s embarrassing.

She picks up pace, thrusting my length in and out of her mouth, staring up at me with those earnest eyes.

“I’m coming … I’m coming in your mouth.”

Both my hands grip the desk as she sucks harder, faster.

Moaning loudly, I spurt into her mouth and watch her swallow every drop, never breaking her gaze with me, before releasing me from her mouth.

“That was unexpected but amazing,” I rasp out, adjusting myself back in my underwear, willing my cock to calm down.

She looks proud of herself, and so she should. “You’re welcome.”

I pull her up to standing and kiss her softly on the neck. “Tomorrow,” I whisper in a daze. “We finish this tomorrow.”

“Do you have the board meeting now?”

We both look down at the tent in my trousers, and I curse.

Never mind Tristan. HR and the board will break my nuts.

How is it that I own the company and can still get into trouble with HR?

Charlie

“So don’t mention anything?”

“No, Suze,” I repeat for the twentieth time. “Keep your mouth shut. Tristan doesn’t know yet.”

“If I keep my mouth shut, will you buy dinner?”

I glare at her. “It’s my birthday, but yes, if that is the only way I will have an easy life. Keep your gob shut, and I’ll fill it with food.”

“This is ridiculous.” Julie snorts. “It’s been two weeks since you went away for your dirty weekend. You’ll have to tell Tristan sometime.”

“We’re planning to, just not tonight,” I explain. “We’re going to his house for dinner at the weekend and will tell him then. We want to get him alone.”

We are drinking cocktails in a sexy bar nestled in a basement in Soho. It’s Tuesday but looking around the heaving bar, you would be forgiven for mistaking it for a Friday. Every night is Friday night in London.

“I’m going to freshen up,” I say, standing up. Danny, Tristan, and Jack will be here any minute. “I’ll go to the bar on my way back.”

“Ladies first.”

I look into an extremely attractive face as I queue at the bar. The smirk on his face says he knows I think he’s gorgeous.

“Thanks,” I say, flustered, giving my order to the bartender. If I wasn’t with Danny, I would be delighted at being in the presence of this godlike creature.

“What’s your name?” There’s a slight American twang to his deep raspy voice.

“Charlie.” I smile. “Short for Charlotte.” “It’s your birthday today?”

I do a double-take. “How did you know that?”

He nods in the direction of the table, and I glance over to find Suze, Cat, Julie, and Stevie watching me like hawks. “The presents on the table. I saw you unwrapping them.”

I whip round to face him, lifting a brow. “Someone’s observant.”

“You caught my eye, Charlie.” He says my name like he’s trying it on for size. He’s confident; I’ll give him that.

“Need a hand with the drinks?” a steely voice says behind me.

I turn around to see an annoyed Danny watching my exchange with Sexy Stranger.

He leans over to reach the bar, strategically placing himself between the guy and me, taking two of the cocktails.

I take the others.

“I have to get back,” I say to Sexy Stranger in a strained voice as we walk away.

This is awkward.

“I’d like to take you out, Charlie,” he calls loudly after me.

“I don’t fucking think so,” Danny growls back.

“Who the fuck is that?” he fumes, his eyes firmly locked on me.

“Just some guy that started talking to me at the bar.”

“Fuck’s sake.”

“Tristan will hear,” I say in a loud whisper. “Behave yourself.”

“You behave,” he snaps when we are within earshot of the table.

“Hi Tristan, Jack,” I say loudly.

Tristan and Jack turn to greet me.

“Happy birthday, sis.” Tristan sweeps me up for a hug, and Jack reaches in for a kiss on my cheek.

The waitresses circle, shark-like. Before, we had to wait ten minutes for someone to approach us, now, they are giving us more attention than any other table in the bar.

Typical. The Tristan, Danny, Jack effect.

I sit down on the barstool, and Danny takes a stool opposite me, sitting beside Cat.

“Thanks for dropping by.” I turn to Tristan and Jack.

“I’m sorry we can’t stay,” Tristan says. “I can’t get out of this law dinner. I had to stop by and give you your present.”

“Although you probably don’t want three old blokes cramping your style.” Jack raises a brow. “Who’s Mr. handsome at the bar? Is he your date?”

I dart a glance at Danny. A frown creases his brow as he processes Jack’s words.

“No!” I say quickly as the waitress brings three scotches for the men.

She looks at Danny and does a double-take, recognising him, then her eyes light up like she’s won the jackpot. “Here’s your drink.” She puts a hand unnecessarily on Danny’s shoulder, making me want to scrab her.

“Mr. Walker,” she purrs, giving him sex eyes as Jack chuckles beside me, muttering ‘every time’ under his breath.

Annoyed, I divert my attention from the flirty waitress.

“Where is your law dinner?”

Tristan brings the scotch to his lips, smelling it before knocking it back. “Mayfair. It’s the annual dinner for the law society. I’m speaking at it.”

“Are you two going?” I ask Jack and Danny.

“To listen to Tristan talk?” Jack lets out a laugh. “God, no. I’m meeting a lady for dinner, and workaholic Walker is working tonight.”

I look at Danny, slightly disappointed. I wanted him to stay for my birthday and go to sleep with me tonight. That’s the only gift I wanted. But Danny staying behind when Tristan and Jack left would look suspicious.

“It doesn’t beat having a song written for you.” Tristan smiles, handing me an envelope.

“You can’t sing.” I roll my eyes. “That would have been the worst gift ever.”

“Tristan, this is too much,” I scold, scanning the paper. It’s a weekend in the South of Italy for me and three others.

Julie whoops beside me. “Yes! Holiday!”

“Nonsense,” Tristan scoffs. “Right, I really need to go now. I’m already late.”

He knocks back the rest of the scotch and slams down the empty glass as Jack and Danny follow suit. “Ladies and Stevie, it’s been a pleasure. Charlie, enjoy the rest of your birthday.”

“I will,” I smile, hiding my disappointment as Danny puts on his jacket and leather gloves.

He turns when Tristan steps away from the table. “Before I forget.” He hands me an envelope, and our hands touch. “Happy birthday, Charlie. It’s just a card. Open it when we are gone.”

Confused, I feel something lumpy in it.

His eyes have a glimmer of reluctance, but he nods his goodbye and follows Tristan and Jack out the door.

I rip open the envelope, and something sparkles up at me.

“Oh my God,” Julie shrieks as we all stare open-mouthed at the exquisite diamond pendant necklace.

“Is it real?” I gasp.

“Of course, it’s real!” she hisses. “And clearly wasted on you. It’s from Tiffany’s. That necklace costs about five grand.”

“That’s more than six months’ rent!” I choke. “I can’t accept this.”

“Wow,” Suze says. “This thing between you two is clearly more than sex.”

I swallow the lump in my throat. Yes, this isn’t just sex. This is in a different league to anything I’ve ever experienced.

I am hopelessly, utterly irrevocably in love with this man, but I can’t admit it out loud.

I want this man from my very core. I’ve never wanted anything more, and that thought terrifies me because to love this deep means I have so, so much to lose.
