Chapter Swept Into a Fairytale Marriage 93
Chapter 93 Germaine Doesn’t Take Farrah Seriously
In the elegantly minimalist CEO’s office on the 22nd floor, Corey was organizing documents and verifying data.
“Germaine, Mr. Locke is going on a business trip tomorrow. It’s my mom’s birthday, so you should
accompany him,” he said while working, glancing at her. “You’ll be in charge of the project. I’ll sort out the relevant materials and send them to you.”
“You’ve talked to Mr. Locke about this?” Germaine was surprised and pleased.
Corey answered, “Not yet.”
Germaine’s heart sank a little. She thought that Adrian probably wouldn’t agree to it.
In reality, she had always been the one with doubts and burdens; Adrian’s thoughts weren’t nearly as complicated.
Just then, Adrian walked in, and Germaine quickly averted her gaze as she returned to her desk.
“Mr. Locke, I was thinking Germaine could accompany you on the business trip tomorrow,” Corey said. My mother has been looking forward to her birthday, and she’s already called me three times today. I promised her I’d be home for dinner.”
Adrian felt a twinge of envy for their mother–son bond, a sense of longing filling him. He might never receive a call from his mother in his lifetime. Forget a call; he couldn’t even recall a single smile from her.
Germaine subtly observed Adrian’s expression, worried that he might refuse.
To her surprise, Adrian responded to Corey, “Alright, wish your mother a happy birthday for me.”
“Thank you!” Corey beamed and then turned to Germaine. “Ms. Keller, I’ll share the relevant materials with you. I hope you have a pleasant trip!”
Although Adrian hadn’t explicitly agreed to let Germaine go, he also hadn’t outright refused, which brought a flicker of joy to Germaine’s heart.
Soon after, Corey left with some work materials.
Germaine rose and approached Adrian, holding out the ring she found. “Mr. Locke, your wedding ring.” But when her gaze fell, she noticed he was already wearing one.
Adrian looked at the ring in her hand, momentarily stunned, and so was Germaine.
His expression darkened. Farrah had lost it?
Germaine was equally puzzled, unsure of what was happening. How could there be two identical rings?
Just as she was about to pull her hand back, he extended his hand toward her. “Give it to me. It’s my wife’s ring that she accidentally lost.”
As she returned the ring, Germaine gathered a crucial piece of information–his wife worked at Prestige Group.
Was it Farrah? After all, she had found the ring on the 11th floor.
After returning it, Germaine didn’t leave immediately but asked, “Is it Farrah?”
A persistent curiosity bubbled within her. She wanted to know who that fortunate yet detestable woman
was.
Adrian frowned slightly, looking at her. “Whether it is or isn’t, what does it have to do with you? Does it
affect your work?”
It was probably her….
“I’m sorry.” Germaine struggled to suppress her sadness as she turned back to her desk. But she genuinely couldn’t understand what made Farrah so special.
Even if they were legally married, weren’t they still distant? After all, on the first day of his appointment, she had exclaimed Adrian’s name in shock. She lost her composure in front of so many people. It showed she was unaware of his status.
Germaine was astonished.
This wasn’t a typical romantic relationship. There had to be some kind of agreement in place–there was no love between them.
Yes, there definitely wasn’t any love!
One had to admit that Germaine was astute. With careful observation and calm analysis, she could arrive at conclusions.
So, did it mean that she still stood the opportunity to be Mrs. Locke?
How could Adrian tie himself to someone he didn’t love and who wasn’t worthy of him?
Germaine felt that as long as she worked hard enough, was excellent enough, and remained patient, she could still have that opportunity.
If it were someone else, Germaine might have felt a bit of anxiety, but facing Farrah, she didn’t take her seriously at all!
